Have had several calls since Sept. 1, 2009, Caller ID showed "Public Safty" and I answered since I'd just called the local police here. Caller said he was working for a cancer research firm... my mother had died a few days earlier and we're being swamped with scam phone calls. Looked number up, it was shown as belonging to city government in Nashville, TN. Today, 10-3, for the first time Caller ID is showing Unknown Number.I am sending copy of this complaint to City of Nashville, let them look into it.

further, I know I can block the number or find out more and report the name and address of the person on that number, but it will cost me money and I don't see why I should have to pay anything to stop the nuisance.

I have had four calls to my unlisted home number from 615 349 1426 in the last two days.  The reason my number is unlisted is so that I am not inundated with this kind of calls but get all the important business calls.Twice the phone either stopped ringing before I answered.  Twice I picked it up quickly and there was only silence on the line.On two separate occasions, I called back.  The last time, a woman answered.  She replied that the call was in connection with some kind of cancer research. She knew me by name, so I believe that the phone number has been sold (by AT&T?).I requested that she stop calling my number and add it to her organization's do not call list, otherwise I would report it as a nuisance call.This is a number in Davidson county (Nashville) TN and because it is in the same state as me, and purports to be a charity, I guess my number being listed at donotcall.gov makes no difference.But based on what I have read elsewhere about calls from this number, her claim to be a charity is suspect.Reverse lookup says nothing except that this number is an unpublished land line in Davidson county.  If it was a charity or similar, why would the number be unlisted?Regardless, my request that she stop calling and add my number to her own DNC list should work.  Otherwise the organization can be fined about $500 each time they call my number.Time will tell, I will wait and see.

(615) 349-1426 "Private Call" came up on caller ID. A female asked "Is this Ms. ____" using my husband's first name. I told her no and asked who was calling. She ***g up.

615-349-1426 number showed on ID.  Caller  was a female.  Asked to speak to me by first and last name.  I asked, "Who  is calling".  She asked me if I was Sue I said, If this is a solication call, I do not want to talk to you".  She said so****ing about community so****ing and then she said "I will call back later" and ***g up.  How rude for anyone to  ask me if I am Sue Smith without identifying who they are and the reason for their call.

Asked for "Al Rogers".  When I informed them he didn't live here, they ***g up.
