Leave a Commentyep, has happened to me also. It's BMI trying to figure out if you have entertainment so that they can charge you fees, minimum I think is around $335.00. It's all legal. They are excessively aggressive. I would bet they have search engine*****ting facebook and other types of social media to jumps**** their barrage.
Today I received a call from a woman asking if musical groups played in our Bakery. I answered that on occasion a town local will drop by and ask if he or she can play for a bit or use the ****e for practice. She asked if they schedule a session ahead of time. I asked if the caller was a musician. She replied, "I'll call you another time then," and ***g up.
Someone from that number keeps calling my cell#. I do not answer calls from unknown #'s. They have left 4 messages.
Today I received a very aggressive call from a man repersenting this Broadcast Music Company and wanting to know why The Cultural Council, a non-profit charitable organization, had not returned the information to apply for a license. He claimed that, regardless of the fact that our annual event benefits students, he claimed that we had to pay $100 for a license per performing school and that the music directors from each school had to submit a list of the music they would play and pay a fee. I told him I was going to report this to various en***ies, which I did, and he ***g up. This kind of scam and abuse needs to stop.
Call often asking about the live music at our venue. BUT THERE IS NO VENUE. And every time they say they made a mistake and promise not to call a***n...but of course they do.
