I am retired from a large phone company and I held the best tracing record in their corporation, I get these calls all the time too and I am sorry to tell you that there is no way to stop0 them except to ignore them, under no cir***stances ever talk to them without getting their full name and company name and most of all why they are calling you and never ever for any reason tell them any information about yourself, do not even acknowledge your name. You will know it is a call you don't want if......... 1) they do not want to give you their information (name, company, and reason for the call) 2) if they never leave any message. 3) if they give you any indication they want money (in this caller case "your warranty is expiring") 4) never get mad at them just **** up and keep a record of the number and ignore it in the future. very important!..... All companies who are interpretable will never ask for money over the p0hone without letting you know exactly who they are and the company name, but always make sure it is a company or person you have worked with and you do indeed owe money to and even then tell them you will send it threw the USPS and you want their address and return phone number. NEVER EVER let them mussel you into giving them money over the phone. FACT: 1 out of 100 calls about money you do owe are real and 99 of them are cons. per study in 2011. Today it is likely more like 1 in 250 that is real. Rules for protecting yourself........ Never ever volunteer information. Never ever give your credit card number over the internet or telephone if you did not contact them first. But never ever when they contact you first. Con men are very good at what they do and it is up to you to hold your ground, a real company wi8ll understand your apprehension about your money over the inte3rnet or phone and if they are not then you need to c****e that company to a new one who doesn't. The best rule is if the caller cannot give you at least four 100% accurate information about you, like birth day, full name, address, when you first contacted their company, your account number(s), the current amount on the last bill they sent you, etc. No mater how much they will try to tell you different, (and so you are sure I am not pulling your leg, you need to call the social security administration and ask them directly) your social security number is only for Social Security and tax purposes only, and is not for identification! This means if you do business with any company that wants your Social Security number, ask them if it is for tax or social security use, if they cannot tell you how it is use for one of those reasons you should not give it to them. IMPORTANT, IF THEY REFUSE TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU WITHOUT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, YOU NEED TO TELL THEM TO TAKE A FLYING LEAP AND YOU NEED TO USE A COMPANY WHO CAN FOLLOW FEDERAL LAWS ON THE USAGE OF YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. This means unless they plan to file a tax form using your social security number they DO NOT NEED IT, and unless they accept your business without having your Social Security number, they are in FACT breaking the law and can be prosecuted. Many businesses insist they need your SS# to do a credit check and this is simply not true, they only need it because they are unwilling to give you credit without the information in your credit report. NOTE: Did you know the credit reporting companies are not regulated by the government but rather they are independent companies who simply keep records for other businesses. Of course your trapped into letting nearly all credit companies use your SS# but by law they cannot refuse you because of the contents of those reporting companies, but we all know they will say didn't use the report for your denial but we all know they do in fact use it as the sole means to grant you credit. You need to send letters and Emails to your political offices and insist this is c****ed or make the reporting companies follow rules placed on them by the government. As to this phone number: This is a scam artist because the numbers from which it comes from is registered to someone who has never existed by birth records or by referencing other information (company is not registered either INC, or LLC) used to get the phone number so if it is a company it can disappear over night. I did this sort of thing for years as part of my job and I am totally sure you are going to lose money if you accept anything coming from this phone source. THIS NUMBER IS A CON AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED!
