As per a suggestion I read on another site, I called the main phone number of this organization and asked on whose behalf they were calling.  I was asked for my phone number and then told the names of the groups they were working for, in my case Planned Parenthood, Human Rights Campaign and the World Wildlife Fund.  The woman said she was removing my phone number.  A short and quite pleasant conversation!
