There really isn't much you can do to get them to actually stop calling you. No matter what you say they keep calling. With that in mind, arm yourself with knowledge. In most cases they are way beyond the statute of limitations for the debt they are trying to collect on. Their "Pre-Legal" gambit is an attempt to scare you into paying on a debt you no longer legally have to pay. If you are beyond the statute of limitations for your debt, they can file all they want but the courts will NOT give them a victory. All you would have to do is show in court with your credit report showing the last date of activity and you win. If you are past the deadline for them to collect under the FDCPA, they are supposed to stop calling if you tell them to do so. However, they do not listen to that. So what I do is mess with them when they call me. Don't threaten them or do anything unlawful. Just mess with their heads. Talk about your hobby of collecting toasters. Ask them if they have ever collected dryer lint. If they wont stop calling, you have 2 choices... Get angry or Have fun with it. I choose the second option.

This is a company who claims that the county I live in is taking civil suit action a***nst me for a credit card .. a master card at speigel's, which is untrue. they've contacted my remaining parent, who does not share y last name nor do *I* even have her number, so its odd. They had my name and the last 4 of my social, but wanted me to fill in the rest for 'verification" Spam/Scam. 7-10 calls a DAY

These people are calling my ***her telling him that I owe them money. Scam alert.

Online number search reports going back to 2009 with similar complaints, robocalls, recorded messages threatening legal action, two most common contact names given. Research company. Possbly contact FTC or Attorney General

This is in Fact a 3rd party "collection" They have access to the old files having belonged to SRS. They called my husband on a debt that had been paid in 2008 and settled in full to SRS and****. When I requested a hard copy mailed to me, she said it was up to me to provide her with all the info i had on the case then ***g up. I called back and confirmed as stated here already it is Credit Smart, he attempted to tell me that was incorrect that it was CS but did confirm ***tington Sta. as the address.

They called saying my husbands brother used him as a reference on a bill. Umm my husband has no brother.

They need to get the message. No answer stop calling.answer

Amazing This guy called 4 times in a row--breaking federal law. Old OLD paper..which was resolved.Refused to give company name. He said it was on behalf of the Sarah and John Stevenson- no clue who they are.The state of the economy has brought schuckster kingpins buying firy old paper and poziing the unknowing into  joining him in easy out of statute collections. The guy I 'spoke with was an utter IDIOT.

This number is so annoying and called me a lot of times looking for Emma Lopez, when I'm not even Emma.

The caller is a woman who claims that they have my phone number as a contact number. The phone is not even mine. She then tells me I have a debt to AT&T. Her name is Heather Davis.....I am really concerned because she even had my SSN #!!!!! It might be an ID theft of some sort which concerns me because how did they even have my ssn !!! The phone number they called was unknown to me up until recently....really scary!

RECEIVED CALL THIS MORNING.  WHEN I SPOKE THERE WAS NO REPLY.  I DISCONNECTED   NO ADDITIONAL CALL ....YET.   I WILL PLACE A  "DO NOT ANSWER" ON MY PHONE.
