Leave a CommentYeah I also received a phone call from this number 631-918-1966 on November 23, 2010 at 9:40 a.m. pacific time. I did not answer. Then at 7:08 pm pacific time I got a call from this number 240-432-5789, I answered and they were asking for me by my name I asked what it was about they said so****ing about a dream come true sweepstakes and that they would need my personal information. I said no thanks and ***g up.
What you say is true. I sell legal protection for consumers across the US and I use the Do Not COntact Letter and the Restrict the Use of My Information forms. My attorneys write to these companies and do exactly what you so correctly outlined. The legal plan in $17 in my state. Coolest thing ever. If you want to get inof on the plan go to www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/mcallisterg
I've been getting calls from various numbers on my cell phone for the last few days. Other numbers are 828-414-4845 and 989-634-1220 and 701-369-4003. They are all land lines in various states. My coworker said it happened because of so****ing I may have signed up for on fb. It's impossible to ask them to list you on the "do not call" list because every time they **** up within seconds of the call being answered. I also received three text messages before the calls s****ed from a "sweepstakes" type of offer. I'm not answering any more unidentified number calls.
http://www.moneytalksnews.com/2008/08/28/205-ways-to-save-money/Turn the tables on telemarketers. One of the most popular TV news stories I’ve ever done involves c****ing from victim to predator in the cold-calling jungle. Here’s how it works. Federal law requires that almost anyone who solicits you by phone give you their name and either address or phone number (which they virtually never do.) The law also requires that they call between the hours of 8 am and 9 pm. And if you ask to be put on their “do-not-call” list, ***ody from that company is allowed to call you for ten years. Finally, they’re required to furnish you with their written “do-not-call” policy upon request. Now, here’s the cool part. Companies are allowed one mistake per year, then they are subject to a $500 fine per violation. So here’s what you do: keep a pad and pencil by the phone. When you’re cold-called, ask to be put on the “do-not-call” list, and ask for a copy of their written policy. Make a note of the date, time and person you talked to. If that company contacts you a***n, let them know you’re supposed to be on their “do-not-call” list. That was their one allowable mistake. If they call you a***n, get their address, because you’re about to make some money. Send a letter to the company threatening to sue them in your local small claims court for $500 per offense because the company is in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. More than likely the company will offer you a check ($250 to $300) to avoid the hassle of a court hearing that they’re going to lose. Believe it or not, informed Americans have already collected ***dreds of thousands of dollars with this strategy (and no doubt had fun doing it!) That’s just the gist of what you need to know, however: to learn more, go to www.junkbusters.com. Sites like this can also help you reduce your junk mail.
This number just called me and I answered... They said they are with a sweepstakes (Make Dreams Happen Sweepstakes, I think he said?), and asked me if I use a Visa, MasterCard, or Express card... ***g up after they asked me that. They knew my name.
I got two calls from this number today as well! The first call was around 10:00 AM and the second was just a few minutes ago 2:45PM. I did not answer it either. After reading this post I decided to call the number back. It didn't ring it just was quiet for a few seconds and they a recording said "the number or code you dialed is incorrect, please check the number or code and dial a***n." Next time I am going to answer.
