Leave a CommentThe number I received was 646-360-1693 they said they were Career Network as well.
I got a call from 646 360 1692. A recorded message came on when I answered and said that they were from Career Network calling for verify my application. I'm not working so of course I have been applying like crazy. When a live person finally came on the phone, he ID himself and said that he was verifying my application for a job that I actually applied for. He read back my name, number, home address and email address then asked if I was at a PC with Internet access. I said yes and that the information was correct. He said I was being passed to the next verification person and to have a good day. I don't know what to think because I did apply for the job he was verifying for. No company was mentioned. I feel a little leary and at this point, will not accept anymore calls. I called back the number and the same recording was playing that I initially heard. It is unfortunate the companies would SCAM and create a false hope for the many people who are out of work. Shame on them!
UPDATE: THE NUMBER IS OWNED BY XO COMMUNICATIONS: 1-800-421-3872
The reason why they contact your cell number is because the carrier wont collect the ANI from the SPID. So the only way to catch these people is to be live about this and Terminate their DID or find out the Carrier holding the DID and gather information on the customer. Also they are using and Open Source Telephone Box known as Asterisk. Which allows them to call through a trunk. Allow multiple calls going out at once. All providers require each DID to have an E911 Call setup. And the carrier is to confirm such address exist with the local PSAP...
