I have paid off my debts and they still call, its been two months, ive contacted a legal rep and am on the phone with check n go, they have taken more money than i owed and  didn't pay it to check n go

Yup, go take a loan, go on default and then when legit collectors call you, conveniently forgoet about your loan and call them scammers. The real scammers are you guys here.

I keep getting a phone call with no answer on the other side from a 7777 number. That is all that comes up on the caller ID. 7777. What kind of **** is that?

Thank GOD for the internet!!!  I've been receiving calls from "Joseph" at 866-443-6985 about a check I wrote and he wanted to verify some information. I don't call back strange people wanting to verify personal information and I don't write checks so I KNEW this was some type of SCAM.  Know your rights under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act!  Know your states laws on debt collection, after so many years your debt isn't even collectable, in Texas it's 3 years.  IF you can't pay someone, you can't pay, you write them tell them to stop calling you and put everything in writing.  IF they continue to call report them to your State Attorney General's Office.  TRUST ME the calls will stop immediately OR they will find themselves in court with your state's attorney general.  IF they say or do things not allowed in the FDCPA find a lawyer and YOU SUE THEM!!!  Just do a google search on how many people are getting paid suing people they owe.  If they sue you all they can get is a judgement through the courts, it may mess up your credit for 7 years but that's ALL they can do.  The ONLY people that can garnish your wages are the IRS and Student Loan people, those people you'd better make an agreement with and make payments or in the case of student loans ask for a deferment.  KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!!!

They called with my maiden name - to my cell phone no less - and told me I was going to be sued in King County court.  I've paid everything off from my earlier days and know FOR A FACT that I owe nothing to anyone.  So, I'm not calling back.  Thanks to the other posters for a heads up on these guys!

received a call from this number stating his name is Matthew and calling from FSG and****ociates regarding a PDL Adventures contract.  This guy by the name of Michael Burnette keeps calling from a 7042474048 number and I was ****** enough to fall for the scheme.  I had made two payments because he had me scared that their was legal litagation a***nst me and I could go to jail.  After resear****g the phone numbers I contacted my bank and stopped payment and cancelled my debit card.  I sure hope someone catches these guys.  They sound so authentic

this is a scam to get people to send money to cover a bad check or late loan payments. they call me all the time and i not only dont have a loan i dont even have a bank account.  if they continue to call they will get violent and say they will place an arrest warrant on you.  tell them you are recording them...they will be the ones to **** up.

Need information on a check I wrote

i just got a phone call from this number asking for me and they said it was regarding a bad check i had written in 2008. when i told the dumb guy i havent written a bad check he then asked me to verify the address was correct which it was not the correct one. Then he told me the "last 4 of my social" which was also wrong. He then told me that he had the wrong Jessica and ***g up. He claims that he was from a law ferm and im not sure why he would have my home number to reach me.

Number called.  Answered but no one was on the other line!
