Leave a Commentget calls from this number on my business phone several times a weekno message is ever leftto me, that definitely spells donation!
I keep getting these calls and it is always young woman's voice (id is always VA). She always cheerfully asks for my husband by his first name only (red flag!) and insists to talk to him. Upon probing she would ***ualy identify Fairfax Fire Dept. and that it is a thank you call. Just last night she called a***n and asked a***n for my husband. I said he is unavailable, and she pressed more; I said he is napping, and she said "are you sure he is asleep?" After I paused and said "excuse me" she ***g up. I ran the phone trace and the owner is unlisted. The location is Centreville.

Just moved to Northern VA. Rec'd a call from 703-653-0538. Caller ID read "VA" nothing else. Since I know no one in ******ia. I did not answer. They did not leave a message. My home number is registered on the national do not call list.
Got a call from this number November 12, 2010 at 8:30 pm. No caller ID, just "******ia." No one on line so it was coming through a computer dialer. I get solicitations for police and firefighters all the time, so it is reasonable that it is a legit solicitation. HOWEVER, I never donate anything over the phone. You are NOT talking to some firefighter or cop, you are talking to a telephone marketer who is soliciting for the organization. I have checked these operations out and the public sponsoring group (cops' or firefighters' benefit funds) only get 25% or less of what you donate. The rest goes to the marketer. Therefore, quite apart from giving anyone a credit card number over the phone, there is ample reason to tell them to take your number off their list. The right thing to do, if you want to donate to one of these benefit groups is to contact your local police station or fire department and find out who represents them. Get on their mail out list and respond to that.
11-5-2010I, too, have received calls on my Caller ID saying it is from VA COP, but no messages left. I understand the Fraternal Order of Police does make phone calls for donations, however, how can we know for sure that w***ver is calling is actually legit, and they do warn us about fraudulent calls, and to be careful. As for those who have received calls from those who said they are calling from the Fairfax County Fire Department - no matter which precinct - these calls are fraudulent - unless the FFCFD has c****ed their way of obtaining donations - and I don't think they have. A few years back they sent out notices to FFX Cnty residents to disregard those calls, as they do not solicit for donations over the phone. They still, during certain times of the year, go out a**** the traffic, near their own Firehouse, to seek donations from passersby. I'm not sure how else they do this. I lived in FFX Cnty nearly all my life, and this has remained the case, but they do not solicit by phone. They have not, and probably still do not, due to the fact that anyone can call you and say they are who they are not, without giving proof. As for VA COP, or others who call saying they are from the Fraternal Order of Police - it would be better to work more like the Fire Department does in seeking donations. People do not always donate to strangers who call over the phone 1) because we do not know if you are legit, and 2) many times we just cannot stretch our budgets muich further, as it is getting harder and harder to make ends meet, yet at times, would like to donate to someone who is legit, when it is possible to do so.Thank you!
I want to lock this number.
They are calling during the weekends at 8am. caller ID just says VA. Talks about Fire department. We told them stop calling and now they are calling more. I just blocked their number.

they called me and asked for my parents. when i said they were unavailable they kept saying they needed to speak to them and that it would only take a moment. i told them they werent home and the lady said it was just to say thank you and could she please talk to them. i the screamed THEY AREN'T HOME. and ***g up.
I my case it was the Fraternal Order of Police on their Annual fund raising drive. Course the FOP seems to think that annual means every month.
My caller ID said "Vienna, VA" - they didn't leave a message and we didn't pick up
I received the phone call during a weekday evening around 7 PM. The caller claimed he is a member of Fairfax County Fire Fighter and Paramedic Station #65. The caller's tone was intimidating and commanding. I simply told him that I would more happy to write a check if they can send a written request for donation. He told me that they have fraud detection protection and they never leave the credit card numbers. I told him that my caller ID did not show it was from a Fairfax County Fire Department, and repeated that I will send out donation under written request. I still don't know how do they get my number. The fire fighter team near our house is not #65.
06-03-2010 Received call from female who claimed she was seeking financial contributions for the Fairfax County Fire Department. Sounds like it was another scam, similar to another individual who called last year regarding contributions for the Fraternal Order of Police. If you are asked "are you the man of the house," obtain as much information as possible from the individual and report the call to your local police department .... yes, caller ID showed the caller as VA COP.
I keep getting calls from this number too. I suspect its some bogus (?)charity calling to request "donations" for local law enforcement. Even though we are on a do not call list, "charity" organizations can still make such calls. Seeing VA COP could intimidate some into answering or returning the call....
yeah just got a call from the same number. . showed VA COP on the phone. Told him parents weren't home, he wanted someone who can "make decisions about the household". At leasts its a LEGIT call.
i wish they wouid stop calling me i already told them to stop calling but they just wont stop every day for weeks now ....i mean i just got out of federal prison the last thing i want calling me is cops...lol an i sure the - - - - dont want to donate them any money...
caller ***g up with no message
A person called me very early this morning from this number. It was from the VA Police trying to get donations.
Who keeps calling my office # with this #? Why is it showing as VA COP? Last call came about 20 mins ago and no messages are left.
