Leave a CommentThis is MRS****ociates, a debt collection agency. In 2005 - YES, 2005!! - our daughter drove one of my cars to Los Angeles. In December of 2005, the night before she was s****ing home, she parked her car on the street near a friend's apartment where she spent the night. In the morning, the car was gone - stolen - with all her earthly possessions. She and her friend spent the day in the rigamarole of reporting a stolen car. Two weeks after that, the car was ticketed for being parked on the wrong side of the street. A month after being stolen, it got ticketed for the same thing. Five weeks after being stolen, a nice policeman called me from his cellphone, standing beside the car, which he had found. Most of the stuff was still in it, plus a bonus - a bag of nifty burglary tools!Only 3 days before the officer called about finding the car, State Farm had "bought the car", so to speak, although we had not yet filed under home insurance for the stuff in the car. (State Farm requested we wait 30 days before filing claims, and we did the car first.)Then began several months of back-and-forth with the LAPD, ending with the strange notion that it made absolutely no difference that the car was ticketed after being stolen because it was still registered in my name, making me legally responsible. Furthermore, the LAPD told me that the fines had been doubled for non-payment, and that a warrant had been issued for my arrest in LA County. Two years ago, I began receiving collection calls concerning these two tickets from 2005. It is now October of 2010, and MRS****ociates is simply the latest collection agency to "give it a try".Is this really how our government works? No wonder I hear people, even in our little town, and even people in their 70s and 80s, talking about ****ing up the government. We seem to have reached some sort of tipping point, similar to 1776, when we got so disgusted with King George, we went to war.
Not sure what they wanted, but wouldn't identify themselves and wanted me to confirm my iden***y. Obviously, talking to strangers and persons unknown is not a safe practice. When I wouldn't comply with the female person, she became beligerent. I asked she not call me a***n and disconnected.
