Leave a CommentJust found this video on the Windows Service Station Scam:http://www.talktalk.co.uk/video/31322/technol ... tre-scam/#31322 It shows exactly what happens when they call.
Watch out!! Same issue happened to a friend, but unfortunately she gave him information. She turned the computer on, he verified her ip address by reading it to her, then he got control of her computer and installed so****ing when she said her computer logged errors (which are common and normal). None of the virus programs have been able to spot anything yet, but he was very upset that she didn't want to purchase so****ing from him. I suppose this is a credit card/iden***y scamming, but they use fear and misinformation to ***n control of the computer. We're calling the police just to log it in case her iden***y is stolen.
Same scam. Said he was in California, worked for "All Windows Operating System". Microsoft would never call customers (not to mention, I have never purchased Windows).
I got the same call. The connection on the line was very bad. He said he was calling from "the technical department of Windows Operating System" - when I asked if that means he works for Microsoft, he just kept repeating the same thing. When I said I didn't believe him and it sounded fishy, and asked how he could possibly have a phone number****ociated with my computer, he ***g up. The name he gave me was Lee Rogers. Sounds like a scam to me.
Got a call saying he was from Windows operating systems. Wanted me to turn on my computer to see if it was virused.
