Legal matter, call before it goes to court

Caller stated they had legal information for me. Wanted to speak before it reached clerk of courts. But caller didn't call me, they called my mother looking for me. Though they didn't fully know my legal name.

Where are they calling from?

They said they were looking for someone named William in regards to a legal matter, I believe it was to verify that person’s location. It was odd because I didn’t know anyone with that name.
