Leave a Commenta man called my mom in wisconsin & explained that he was D.A for Ohio, Michael Folis. He told her i owed money for a pay day loan and that he has me videotaped writing this place a bad check in 2007. He said that he could get me out of the matter if i paid him 537.00 within two hours ( i owed this money for res***ution & the bad check), but if i didnt make the payment in that time a warrant would be issued for my arrest. He identified i was being taped then asked me a series of questions about my personal iden***y & i became a bit worried so i ***g up. He began calling my work, explaining that he needed to talk to the owner asap reguarding a matter with myself and the authorities & that i am a criminal & should be fired. What he didnt know is that i was having my name ran for warrants in Ohio as he was calling and i came back with a clean record. So when he called back i told him he was full of s**t, & to leave me alone and ***g up. This man called my work several times after that, the caller id said Weinburg, ****ran & listed the phone number. (330-777-4387) The last call i answered he demanded i give him the address to my work & when i denied him the info he told me to "shut the F*** up, ***** little white girl" At that point he is no longer any type of offical in my mind, but yet he still called my cell phone back leavin a nasty message about how i am going to jail and getting fired cuz he is sending my criminal report to my work, ending it with "i will show u u are not above the law, Jaeger, good luck." This happened to me all day yes****ay, today the owner got word of the ordeal and called the number back ready to get to the bottom of this, it was disconnected. How convienent. Beware, these people are a scam & unfortunately they arent going to stop.

I had the same people calling my house... and I live in NC. weird. Anyways, the Attorney General was such great help with me. Best of luck with resolving your problem :)
I had these people calling my house and cell phone. They said that they were with the FBI and if I didn't pay I would have the FBI at my door. I played along just to get information from them (as much as I could) and then called my attorney general, fbi, and homeland security. This guy, Todd, called a***n claimed to be with the FBI said that the local sheriffs office would be coming by to 'get me' and I said, Oh, so you are with the FBI?! What is your agent/badge number... what area do you work in. He told me that I didn't need to worry about it because the matter was about me and not him, so I said, well my husband works at the FBI so I was just going to give him a call and see if you know him. He ***g up on me and has NEVER called back. lol. Sometimes you just have to give them a dose of their own medicine. Ya know. I am sorry to hear that other fell for this scam.. they are convincing though. Just remember, if you ever get a call and you have any questions about whethere or not you actually owe the money, ask them to call back, then call the name of the company. If they are legit, then they should be able to give you at least the city and state of the company and possibly a number. ALWAYS CHECK before you agree or sign to anything. It ****s because once they think that they have you where they want you, they won't stop. So just notify the right officials and let the 'scammer' believe that you or your husband/wife work for the FBI or Homeland Security. Bet they leave you alone. LOL. It worked for me!!! Good luck to all of you!!!
I've received several phone calls from these people regarding a debt I have for a payday loan. As others have noted, they like to use very official-sounding terms but don't always use them correctly. They threaten that their "white collar crimes division" "has a felony case a***nst you" for "[n] counts of fraud". They say they have to make a decision ASAP and if you don't pay them "the state of [your state]" will make a decision for you. They give you the full amount they will "seek in court", the "out-of-court settlement" and a "res***ution fee" - the res***ution fee is the lowest amount they will take, and that will "stop the court action". I specifically asked if they were a debt collector and was told "no, there is no debt to even collect since it's been written off". They said they are an attorney's office and gave me the name of Weinberg, Cochran and****ociates - unfortunately they refused to spell the names or give me an address and when pushed they would only say "you need to get an attorney within 24 hours, have them contact us and we'll fax them the information" and then **** up. The people I've spoken to have given me the names of Mr. Finch, Investigator Stigall and Michelle Littleton - Finch and Stigall sound su****iously similar and Ms. Littleton evidently contacts people "abruptly". All signs point to this outfit being completely bogus, and I have notified them via voicemail that unless they give me real contact information I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office and forward all of the contact information (including Moneygram payment information) that I have to facilitate the identification of these clowns.
I WISH I CAME ON THIS WEBSITE BEFORE GIVING SEAVERS MY CHECKING ACCT & BANK INFORMATION BECAUSE INSTEAD OF TAKING OUT WHAT HE SAID I OWED THEY WITHDREW EVERYTHING OUT BUT 18 CENTS! EVERYTIME I CALL TO SPEAK TO SOMEBODY ABOUT IT, THEY PUT ME ON HOLD FOR A LONG TIME WITH LOUD MUSIC BLASTING IN MY EAR THEN I'M DISCONNECTED.
These are your typical s*** of the earth type characters. Caller called my office asking for a fellow coworker, s****ing in with the same spill about being an investigator. Before she could finish, I interrupted asking did she realize she had just called the police dept. She ***g up abruptly. Now, they're the ones being "investigated". So far, from what we've found, this is not a legitimate agency.
DON'T FALL FOR IT! Just got a call from "Michelle" today. I recorded the entire converstation and will be forwarding the recording to my attorney general's fraud dept. Hopefully, she'll be faxing me her "proof" along with the "res***ution" she claims I owe. The more info you have on these losers, the better. These people are scam artist. Another name to look out for is: "Amanda Graham", that's the name she left a few months ago (actually sounded like she was reading) on my voice mail. Her enunciation of just basic words made the entire message laughable. They'll refuse to tell you the name of their company. They only want you to wire them money via moneygram by using bogus scare tactics. They'll use the following words: INVESTIGATORS, INSPECTOR, URGENT, OFFICIAL, FRAUD- ONGOING INVESTIGATION. I think you get the picture. These losers are trying to collect on old accounts that have either been paid, written off or the SOL has expired. They'll tell you they won't mail/fax proof of debt. A cease and desist letter is worthless because they won't honor it because they're crooks! They'll violate FDCPA constantly harrasing you on your job or by calling your relatives. They'll say there are "pending charges" in your local County a***nst you. ALL UNTRUE! Please don't ever send these vultures a dime of your hard earned money. Let them know you understand the game of junk debt collectors and you're recording the call. Do not trust the number that's on your caller id because every month, it c****es. They're using call s**** by using a fake caller ID number to ensure the call isn't traced and to prevent websites such as this to prevent disclosure by allowing victims to see they're not the only ones being targeted by these ruthless ****s and ****ettes. Two Numbers they've used in the last few months are: (***) 889-4668 and (512) 807-7752-- Luckily I have recorded every call and I've saved every message they've left me and I'm currently working with NC Attorney General Roy Cooper's office regarding this particular group.
I work for a hospital and I recived a call from an "investigator STigall" wanting information about an employee working with our Florida office (I am in Indiana)..we don't have a Florida office. When I told him that he seemed very disappointed. I gave him the main hospital number and ***g up. Beware...he is fishing for information.
The caller states that he is Investigator Stigall and he is working in connection with my local police department. He named the payday loan company that I owe, saying he has proof of (3) counts of fraud. He claims to be able to do a "stop action" on an arrest warrant if I send the payment via Money Gram or credit card. he continuously calls my home and wotk place. I am seeking legal action at this very moment a***nst him (in preparation for his next phone call).
The person calls every day for the past year and a half trying to collect money for a debt that doesn't exist. I checked them out and they are fronting to be calling from a pay day loan company. The name they use ties them to your number. Like if their bogus file has your phone number and your name they use certain names so if you call back and reference their name they know what number they called. It's lets them know it's a viable number and they continue the scam on your number.
What business has this number?
"Mr. Freed" is calling my work # and leaving the same kind of messages. Always ending with "good luck"! Is that a threat or so****ing?
All he said on the message was "This is Investigator Freed (?) for my name here. Please call about an important business matter. ###, good luck
Please DO NOT PAY anything to these people on the other end of these numbers I fell victim to it and have wisened up!! Seriously these people prey on the weak AND strong and I certainly have wisened up! Dont be a victim like me!
Did he have a middle eastern accent and give you an americanized name? Is he threatening to have you arrested as well as people you may have used as a reference? If so, then yes this is a scam. I fell victim to it and have wisened up, but it was an exspensive lesson. First, contact the companies tha you had loans with to see if they ahve been paid off. If he gave you the name of a loan company he probably also said so****ing like "they own 50 different companies so he cannot pinpoint the exact lender" (that is false) If he gave you the name of a cmpany call them to verify. This scam has been running a long time they prey on people who have applied for online loans. Your informaiotn has been bought or stolen, that how they know so much. They use the threats of calling your employer or people you used as references to try to get you to pay. I bet he said you had to fax him an apology letter, but the fax number had a code than the number he was calling from. You need to tell him you are aware this is a scam and that you have reported it to your state attorney general, the FBI and Homeland Security ( and you need to do just that) Do a google search of the name andnumber he gave you and you will find countless others, like me, who have been a victim of this. I check this site, 800notes.com, scamwarners and fraud watch daily. These people constantly switch name and phone numbers and you will probably get more calls over the next months, I have. One did acutally call my emploiyer, I had already informed him that this may happen and he told the guy off. These people are leeches and the best way to stop them is for all of us to keep posting about them.
This guy called and said I owe money for a payday loan and if I don't pay by Monday the police will be at my door to arrest me. He seemed to know a lot of personal information about me. He would not give the company name saying it's about you not me. Said he's calling from the capital and he's the attorney bishop. WHAT does that mean?
