I just got a call from this #. Sunday, 2-7-2010. Her name is Susan, she was rentless in pressuring me to make a payment TODAY or I would be turned over to debt collectors. She asked why would I not pay her bill by charging the balance to another credit card, she asked why I have not asked a friend or relatinve for money to pay her. I have received the same calls at work, the calls are high pressure for me to committ a date &  time & amount to pay.

NEVER give your credit card number when you did not solicit the initial contac***his is a phishing scam and is NOT from American Express. This phone number seems to be from a cell phone or landlines with disguised caller-ID info, even saying "American Express" on your ID screen. These scammers are relentless and will call 2 to 3 times a week, and usually 3 times during the day & evening, for months at a time. The prerecorded message is always the same: "THIS IS AMERICAN EXPRESS CALLING ABOUT A VERY IMPORTANT BUSINESS MATTER, YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER IS URGENTLY NEEDED BY THE END OF THE DAY, PLEASE CALL US AT 1-800-678-0738, AND PLEASE HAVE YOUR AMERICAN EXPRESS ACCOUNT AVAILABLE WHEN YOU CALL, WE CAN BE REACHED 24 HOURS A DAY, THANK YOU."There are many people reporting this scam on various consumer complaint websites. American Express has verified that it is NOT them. This number called me asking for my AMEX account number and my social security number.  I told the guy i dont give out that information to people that call me.  He asked a***n and a***n.  He finally got frustrated and ***g up.

Got a call from this number today, the guy left a VM in which he was almost shouting that I had an "urgent business matter" to discuss with Amex.  Two hours later I got the call a***n on my office line and would you believe it, it came up with the same number but my work system classified it as a "cellular call".  Sounds like Amex is outsourcing collections to anyone, even if you only have a cell phone to make collections calls.  What a joke...
