Just like one of the posts here I answered after days of seeing this number come up. They asked for my wife by name and when I asked why they said the credit bureau sent her name to them. I said that's a***nst the law and she went into a s***ch about trying to help us. When I asked which agency sent the info she got an at***ude saying "We're just trying to help you and you question our motives". I told her it was a scam and she s****ed screaming at me. I ***g up. They're crooked. None of the credit reporting agencies give out any info like that. If you find out they did SUE them.
They have called us many time over the last few weeks (according to our missed call log). Today I was home and picked up. They asked for my husband (used his name). When I told them he was not here, could I take a message, she said she could talk to me. Asked "do you have over 7K in debt". I said "yes" (shoudl have realized then that had they actually had our info they would have known how much debt we have). Eventually I asked how they got our information and she said TransUnion gave them our info. Which, I believe, woudl be illegal for TransUnion to do, but I didn't think about it at the time. She asked how much our payments were and I said I wasn't sure since hubby pays the bills. She said "well I can't help you right now if you can't tell me". I said "OK, why don't you tell my about this program?". "Well I can't tell you much unless I know how much you are paying" was her response. So I s****ed asking questions. Eventually I asked "Will this affect our credit" and she said "you're credit is already messed up, that's why we are calling you." We actually have very good credit, so I knew then this wasn't quite legit. I told her our credit was good and she tried arguing with me. I said "We're not interested and please don't call a***n" and ***g up. I have a feeling they will call a***n at which point I will be sure to get a name and report it to BBB. On top of that we are on the "do not call list" but when she said they got our info from someone else I thought perhaps we had a "relationship" and so they could call. (I'm pregnant so it takes me awhile to figure thigns out sometimes lol). I did try calling back to find out some more info to report the company and all I got was a busy signal.
Just went to the websight that stoppingharrassment listed and it is the correct one for this number. I called the 800 number on the websight and had my number removed. It is not a debt collection agency but a debt consolidation agency.
Just recieved a call from them asking for my husband-when I told them he was not available and asked if I could take a message, I was immediatly ***g up on-no name was ever given and no company was ever identified. Got the number from caller ID and tried to call back to complain about the rudeness and only get a busy signal each time.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This company is a debt settlement company. They are trying to call you because you may have debt. This company can get you out of debt in as little as 6 months.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is Debt Settlement?Debt settlement is the process in which one works with creditors to pay only a percentage of the total debt owed as the final settlement amount. Debt settlement offers can vary dependent on the company and how badly it want to be paid. However, in most cir***stances debt settlement is a real option to help relieve some of the debt load from a person. The NumbersWhen looking into getting a debt settlement, it's important to understand how much money you may be able to negotiate off your debt. The standard percentage to settle a debt for is 40 percent to 60 percent of the original debt amount. The actual percentage that the company will be able to settle for depends on how long the debt has been in collections, how eager the creditor is willing to be paid, and how big of a risk the creditor feels you are for bankruptcy. Why Creditors SettleIt may seem strange for a debt collector to settle for substantially less than what is owed to him. However. debt collectors realize that many people who are behind in their bills will eventually file for bankruptcy. If this happens, the debt collector in most cases will get nothing. How it worksTo s**** a debt settlement, contact your creditor. Many creditors will send out settlement offers periodically, but others will require that you contact them to negotiate a settlement. Once the creditor has agreed to settle, you'll be sent a bill for a final settlement amount. That amount must be paid in full upon billing unless another arrangement has been made. Once paid off, the creditor will do***ent this and note it on your credit report.Advantages/DisadvantagesThe obvious advantage to a debt settlement is paying less money for a debt. It also opens up more monthly funds to put toward other bills on your way to being debt free. There are some disadvantages to a settlement. First, the full settlement amount is usually due soon after the settlement has been made. If you do not have the cash available, the debt settlement may not be a good option. Another disadvantage is that the creditor may report it in your credit report as paid/settled. This shows other companies pulling your credit report that the debt was not paid in full, which may look bad for you until the debt has been removed completely from your file.Read more: How Does Debt Settlement Work? | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4727789_debt-settlement-work.html#ixzz1GrtAJB5f
I received a phone call from Pat Donahue of Select Financial on February 28th. These guys are REALLY smooth. They try to convince you to stop paying your credit card bills once you have signed with them. You then put a payment each month into a savings account that after six months, is used by them to lower your interest rate and consolidate your payments into one low monthly payment.Remember that this "company" has only been in existence since last summer. No high pressure, no pushing. As subtle as you can possibly be. I was****ured that I would be the ONLY one with access to this "savings, bar***ning account". They almost had me. Almost. Be forewarned, they are REALLY good. Their number is 888-321-2311.
I answered and they said nothing, so I know it was a recorded message or a telemarketer.
Just giving you a heads up that I posted the company information so that you may contact them to have your number removed. Best of luck! I hope we can both get them to stop calling us!
Information from the BBB. I looked this up after getting numerous harassing and very rude phone calls from this company. Contact them and tell them to remove your number or you will file a lawsuit for harassment. (Yes, it is legal to sue for this if a company continues to call once you ask them not to, as long as they are not trying to collect an unpaid debt from you.)Select Financial Services Inc.(888) 231-231114020 Roosevelt Blvd. Ste 805Clearwater, FL. 33762-3851www.goselectfinancial.comOriginal Business S**** Date: March 2010Prin****l: Mr. James Myers, General ManagerCustomer Contact: Mr. James Myers, General Manager - (888)231-2311 or [email protected]***y: CorporationIncorporated: March 2010, FL.Type of Business: Debt Negotiation/Settlement Companies, Loan ServicesThis business is NOT BBB accredited. I received a call from this number at 10:05AM Eastern on 17 February 2011. The gentleman on the other end did not introduce himself and immediately went into his sales pitch about receiving my information from "the credit reporting agencies" and that he was able to help me out of credit card debt. "Are your credit card balances at least $10,000.00?" As soon as I said no, and said that I didn't like this phone call, he ***g up. Calling the number back gets you a recorded message that I have contacted them "outside their normal business hours."
ignored it
