This #****ociated with a bitcoin/paypal scam where victims are told that there is a charge for bitcoin that will soon post to their paypal accts. The bogus paypal tech person then arranges for a reimbur*****t of funds that will be charged. There is a bogus mistake made when the victim types in am amount for the reimbur*****t. (in my case 5000.00 was entered instead of 500.00. The tech person says he will lose his job and instructs the victim to go to a local business (there is a choice between Walmart, BestBuy, Target, etc) and rectify the mistake via credit or debit card. The scam pivots on the bogus PayPal tech person downloading software to view your desktop and ***ning access to a bank account that will allegedly be debited for the bitcoin. When the victim is reimbursed for too much money, the scammers are able to credit the bank account by the amount of the mistake. 5000.00 additional dollars showed up in my bank account-- and then scammer froze my acct. When I called bank in the interim, no activity had been recorded-- no record of the transaction. Luckily I did not lose $4500.00 but had I not called my bank, I would have gone to Walmart to correct the bogus mistake.
