Leave a Commentreceived text from [email protected] saying there were problems with my account at WinSouth Bank...this is bogus because I know my bank does not send text messages...the return # was 765-269-4169 and a separate text message with return # 561-744-8826 both extension #435702...they will attempt to get your account number and steal your money...trying to find out how to block these on verizon, since vtext.com is being used...do not attempt to call the number, they really don't know who they are sending these messages to...it is a phishing scam...just delete the messages...
And this from the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office: Tazewell County Sheriff's Office March 18 Safety Tip: Well this is more of a reminder, it would appear that our scammers are at it a***n in full force. Once a***n they are sending out text messages saying your debit card has been deactivated and then they ask for your debit card number. Here is what you might receive: [email protected] (This is the number the text message is coming from) Your debit card has been deactivated please call First National Bank 888-540-9225 They will ask for your debit card number and then advise you they will send you another card. All the while they are burning through your hard earned money, please don't fall for this! If the bank has deactivated your debit card then they know your debit card number and they don't need you to give it to them. Please pass this on, please check on your friends and family, these scam artists seem to love to prey on our elders so make sure you check on them and warn them as well. Caller: 210608@vtext
