This may or may not be a legitimate charity -- that's up to you to decide -- and I cannot find anything on-line right now to verify this group's legitimacy. Here's their information:Veterans Services of Illinois for Veterans of Foreign WarsDepartment of Illinois2334 W. Lawrence Ave.Chicago, IL 60625773-728-0121**** TaylorThey also call me every year, but I have no money to give out to anyone. (I have now told them to remove me from their call list.) In the past I was told that 100% of every donation goes to "help veterans." I don't know how they can do this especially given the fact that they have a physical location (rent, etc.) and phone bills. He claimed they also have volunteers who supposedly (on their own dime) go around and collect the donations (in the form of a check) from people's homes. Given the price of gas no***ays, I don't know how they can afford to do that either. One time I called the VFW people in Springfield, Illinois, and one person there said they didn't know anything about this outfit, which also made me su****ious as to their legitimacy.Perhaps the wise thing to do is to support your local VFW organizations directly.
I got a few calls from this number looking for me, but I don't say it's me. It's the same guy, I recognize his voice, he won't leave a message or anything, He'll say he'll call back.
