I picked up the phone to hear an automatic voice saying "You've won $2600 travel dollars, press 1 to claim you're prize." I just booked a vacation with Marlin Travel, I don't know if was them or a scam of some sort because no company name was identified! - On call back it was the same recording that was played.

Calling me on my cell by computer - "hello you have won.....". Incredible that there is not a law a***nst companies who concuct this kind of telemarketting. It is imm**** and disrepectfull to someones privacy.I don't know how they got my phone number but it my business number and that really ****es me off, because now they are tou****g my bread, esp. if my number gets sold by them to another telemarketeer.
received a call on my cellphone from this number during class. YES...+778 a BC Cellphone area code. I was about to call it back good thing I checked here first. I can't believe our cell numbers are now public.
I just got a call from this number. When I answered I just heard the Rogers tone twice and then the call disconnected.
got call too .. message said 'you have won travel points or discount or so****ing of $2600 or $2601, press 1 to claim'i just ***g up778 is cell prefix for BC someone is using cell phone, probably pre-paid, to do automated dialing. but from people's reports above, nothing happens when you press 1.i suspect it is some scheme to test phone numbers for viability. perhaps they get our numbers from some harvesting ****od, then test them to see if answered, if press 1 or not, and if answerer was male/female voice, detect accent if any, and to record what people say eg do they swear, or ask who is it etc.its a kind of intelligence gathering scheme. prob can get some interesting demographic, marketing data doing this.it is borderline illegal though as it is calling 'do not call' numbers, and if the users could get their heads together, we might discover that the harvesting ****od is illegal or unethical too.
They have called both my cell and work phone which are unlisted #s at similar times on the same day. Caller is likely to be good candidate for iden***y theft ring.

got a call from the same number on october 1st at 2:24 pm, and it rang once.i didn't answer it anyway, coz i didn't recognize the number, but i believe it's a scam too...if you don't recognize it, don't answer it.
yep, same number called me this afternoon; did not answer though. I'm actually from british columbia so i'm used to the 778 area codes, but this number came up all whack on my phone... i think it's a v.o.i.p line of some sort because usually when a 778 number comes up on my phone it comes up normally since i live in the area and have a 778 area code myself. I have had myself on the do-not-call list for a few months and have had no problems with any telemarketers until today. by the claims made by other posters regarding free vacations, my guess is that this company is making illegal calls since i'm not the only one who has recieved them while on the list, according to this forum. i'm finding out how to report this number..... i can't f***ing stand telemarkets, bunch of straight-up do***ebags. i always hate hearing them say "well i'm just doing my job, sir," because there's always the option of getting a job where you don't f***ing **** people off for a living. f*** 'em... - end of rant. -

Call says I won 2600 travel dollars. Please press 1 to get it. Called into a private corporate cell number.
I'm on Do Not Call list - I'm Ontario - "Unknown" came up and this number was on my mail, but no message left.
I got the same message as Troy. I just ***g up once I'd heard the message, so never spoke to anyone directly.
The automated voice dialler said "Hello, you have just won 2672" travel dollars. Press 1 to claim." It seems like a scam. There isn't any indication of who the company is, unless I press 1 and wait to see who answers.
They called, but didn't leave any voicemail. I tried to cal it back and it was said to be an invalid number format.
Called. Went to voicemail, but left no message.
got a call from 778-785-4596 telling me in a recorded message that I'd just won 2600 travel dollars and that I should push 1 to claim them. I ***g up but checked for this message on the web and found that other callers have had this same call only from an Alberta source. I too have added my cell phone number to the Ca***ian Do Not Call list but they've obviously found a way to cir***vent this.
