Leave a CommentFor good info on what to do about collection calls go to www.collection-calls.ca or google Mark Silverthorn. He used to be a lawyer for collections, then took up the rights of the people a***nst collection agencies
Get call display so u know not to answer. To know your rights inCa***a - a great book is "The Wolf at the Door: What to do when collection agencies come calling" by Mark Silverthorn" .
Had the same call. Right surname wrong name, but initials were correct. When I asked what was all this about, a girl said it's a small business matter, apologized, and ***g up.The number displayed was 780-441-4000
This is NCO Financial in Edmonton - note they do not even call themselves a collection agency! Good advice above - do not speak to them, return their calls, etc. Especially do NOT make payment arrangements - there is a statue of limitations in most provinces of two years, even although they may TRY to collect after that period, or even try to get you to simply ADMIT to the debt. Never do any of the above, especially making a payment, for if you do, that two year period s****s all over a***n. NEVER, ever send a debt collector of any sort a cheque, or provide banking information over the phone..If you are settling a debt, send a money order from the post office so they do not know where you ban**** Otherwise you may see your bank account drained!!! Incidentally, a review of NCO Financial's Better Business Bureau Report as of today's date (Feb 8/11)is RATED A BIG ***......."F"....... the provincial government should not be allowed to license a collection agency with such a terrible tract record. With a disgusting record like that they should not be allowed to call anyone to collect money - talk about outrageous - this is the**** calling the kettle black LOL - really, check it out at "Southern Alberta Better Business Bureau, click on check out business, type in NCO Financial, Edmonton, Alberta, and you can read this for yourself.
debt collector for Citi/Bank Financial, NCO Financial
see messages left under 800 notes. Do not even answer the phone, return all mail unopened, and forget about them. Don't let them ruin your day, but don't let them trap you. In Alberta, they cannot sue you on a debt over 2 years old UNLESS you acknowledge the debt &/or make even one cent of a payment --- no payments, no comments, do not answer the phone, have nothing to do with them.
This call centre called me and left a voice matter about "some urgent matters" for (individual with same first initial J but male - I am female) and the correct surname. Nice try. When I demanded who was called the ****** girl with a Ca***ian or American accent got nervous and ***g up on me!
This phone number belongs to Pamela Hayes of NCO Financial in Edmonton. NCO Financial is a collection agency. They are not exactly the most reputable firm on the planet. A Google search of NCO Financial will bring up more of their unethical and/or illegal garbage than I can possibly post here.Pamela and NCO Financial also use the toll-free number 1 877 237 2215. Note that any time you dial a toll-free number, the company you called sees your phone number. Even if you block your Caller ID.The best way to contact NCO Financial is to call the main number (780 441 4000) collect from a pay phone. That way your real number does not appear on their phone bill and NCO Financial has the added hassle of paying for collect call.I advise to NEVER give ANY collector your banking information. ALWAYS pay with a money order. Money orders are traceable, can be used as a receipt, and most important they do not contain any of your banking information.

At 2:10 pm I received a call from this number. When asked to identify himself and his organization, he would only give his first name. He became quite aggressive, almost threatening, telling me I 'must' provide personal information. He refused to provide a reason for calling. It was only by using google, not 411, that I was able to identify this company.I've reported this to the local police and Phone Busters.
Harassing parents is a tactic typical of NCO Financial. You are not obligated to give them information and you are by no means obligated for the debt of any child.I would be consistent with the message, "I am afraid I cannot help you."If they persist, contact Alberta Consumer Affairs (an Alberta Government Department) if you live in Alberta. Other provinces have similar agencies that look after this kind of garbage.
This number belongs to NCO Financial. They are a collection agency and not the most honest company on the block. When they call I tell them I have no outstanding business with NCO and that if they feel I owe money to please contact me in writing. If they ask me for an address I tell them that if their concern is legitimate they already have my address. :)It is more difficult for collectors to lie when they contact you in writing. This is exactly why I insist and why they don't like to.
Who called?
These "people" are idiot`s & only want to hear one answer .... "Please take what little i have left" !!! ..They will not listen to reason ..Fax them & Tell them to stop calling you...They have to legally oblige...Do it !! NCO`s FAX # IN ALBERTA IS .. 1-877-279-2178
yeah they are a nasty breed of collections dont give in to them and do not give them any information the second you make a payment they drain your account. best advise go to your bank ask to see all your debt and go that route.. never make payments over the phone.

simple solution, don't spend money you don't have!
purchase a recording device so that it will tape your telephone conversation.have them give you as much information as possible. keep them on the phone to record as much of the conversation as you can.who the prin****l is, when was the loan date, what was the limit, when was the default, how much was the default for, how much is it now, what was the interest rate, what is the interest rate now, etc. etc. etc.then have them hold. rewind the recording and tell them to liste****** their know they're recorded they will probably **** up and you may not hear from another collection agency until they sell the debt to someone else.check your credit report to find out the contact information for any outstanding debts.contact the creditors and either cut a deal with them or bring them into a contractual arrangement.write a letter to the credit reporting agency(s) and let them know you have dealt with the situation. the creditor has 30 days to appeal or the credit agency removes their reporting record of your debt.good luck
search the number in 411.ca. the number belongs to NCO finacial
