Leave a CommentI have been getting calls from this number everyday since the new year s****ed. If this is a legimate foundation they should be leaving a message, not call 500 times a DAY. They leave no message for you to call back and when you do the number is always busy. Reading these blogs, I noticed that a few stated that they were police officers.....Ok if this is true what is your badge number, name, and pretinct, I would love to discuss these calls in more detailed. If your stating this is truly a foundation raising money for the fallen heros, they there should be no reason why your people cannot leave a message. This is not only a SCAM, but this is harrassment. There is a reason why people pay extra to be unlisted.
I received a call from someone identifying himself as from the FOP, Miami,786-358-5573. I identified myself as a law enforcement officer (cop), yet he contined to go through his spiel. Very little of the funds they raise go for good causes. What the solicitor doesn't take, goes largely to the officers of the FOP in the form of salaries, bonuses and perks. Don't get me wrong. They do good things, with what little is left of the**** after they get their share. My suggestion, like many, many others have said, is to NOT give them anything. They are white collar beggars, givig you the guilt trip.
Calls but never leaves a message.
Calls from this number show up frequently on my caller ID. What a great service caller ID is! I never answer because I****ume it's some kind of fund raising scam. From the comments I see here I believe my decision to ignore these calls is the right one.
786-522-5607 Male voice identified himself as from the FOP, then chuckled and said, "Don't worry, you're not in trouble." Then said so****ing about raising money for sea turtles(?). I said I was too busy to talk to him, He said he'd call back at another time. I told him NOT to call me. This is the second call in a week, but the first one didn't say anything about sea turtles, just that he was raising money for the FOP.
My comment is that is is nothing more then a SCAM
I'm getting tired of these phony phone calls pretending to be cops. Cops don't try and scam people like these SCAM ARTISTS who keep calling our numbers. It's a shame the phone company won't step up and do so****ing about this. Why do people bother paying for having private number and no-call numbers if the useless phone company wont step up and do their jobs.
They're calling to help the Florida Fraternal Order of Police with their fundraising efforts. I called the number back and was directed to their customer service department. They can answer your questions, help with donating, etc. You can also go to floridastatefop.org for more information or to contact them. The FOP are doing great things to help police officers and their families.
I have received calls several times from this FL FOP FOUND. (789-522-5607). I simply DO NOT answer the call.
Yet another in the endless string of calls, allegedly from "FL FOP FNDN", that has more offices in more FL cities than one can shake a stick at:786-522-5607 (This one, Miami)561-807-0497 (Palm Beach Co.)954-692-2262 (Broward Co.)***-866-7923 (South Central coast)Yet a***n, there are an awful lot of "support the charity" posts, oftentimes the first one in the thread. That, combined with the "three rings and **** up, tell me that these are professional, hired-gun telemarketers as opposed to a legit charity (****inks Mike et al. doth protest too much). Be guided accordingly.
I have received calls from this organization DAILY for the last 3 weeks. Anytime my answering ma****e gets the call, they **** up. Today I answered in person, and they asked for a person who has never had my number, then refused to talk to me when I told them I was not them. Now, I am a sensible and intelligent person, but ultimately, I have had it with this organization. If they are legitimate, which I doubt more and more, then they need to abide by the same rules as anyone else, which is to respect our privacy in matters of solicitation. If we tell them to stop bothering us, then they need to. Failure to stop such actions, REGARDLESS of the nature of their cause, could only be construed as malicious mischief, or given the nature of their calls to get money from folks, could even be construed as a criminal conspi**** to commit acts of fraud or extortion. For a group of folks who 'claim' to be working to help the police, that would be....embarrassing to say the least, eh?
I have many relatives who are in different agencies of police, such as sheriff, state police.......any time someone calls u and says they are from a police agency, be it a FOP or anything else is a scam. If they are true, they will send u a letter in the mail..... ( and for you mike dated oct 8th) THEY DO NOT SOLICIT BY PHONE, CALL YOUR LOCAL POLICE AND THEY WILL TELL U THE SAME THING. ! ! ! !
Some guy ***g up on me when I asked "who's calling?" after he asked for "the lady of the house" ... I traced it back to the fraternal order of police! Great marketing, huh?
