Leave a CommentSame story they sent an email wanting me to fill out forms for the IRS, said it was in****ociation with my discover card. It's a scam. I guess discover got hacked and now our info is out there.
Hi daddy yes
Left an official sounding voicemail about an email I'll be receiving soon with information on how to confirm my info for the irs. They actually said my card was frozen until I call them.
Call Discover Card direct off of their website, will confirm this is a ligit call - to validate customer information you provided, to help cut down on iden***y theft - (I don't ever call back the number left on my phone, ALWAYS call the number from the Credit Card company website to protect yourself)
Requesting IRS confirmation of income for Discover card.
I got an email saying it was discover and they needed information verified

These guys (1 800 203 4969) are SCAMMERS and are attempting Iden***y Theft. STAY AWAY! DON'T DISCLOSE ANY INFORMATION! (general rule.. do not give any information to anyone calling you! only give personal information if YOU call! This way you know exactly who you calling. Here's my story that I relayed to the Federal Trade Commission (telemarketing fraud/iden***y theft complain) : http://www.ftc.gov/1-800-203-4969 : A Telemarketing scammer (attempting iden***y theft)."Around 2pm on Sa****ay, 6 Nov 2010, I received a call from a (1-800-203-4969) claiming to be a Discover Card representative calling with regard to a card offer from Discover. I have received in the past a lot of card offers from Discover via mail, and I was planning to respond and follow up with an application, but never got the chance to do it. So, whenever I received the call form the 1-800-203-4969, being told that I qualify for full line of credit of $15,000, based on my "excellent credit", I bent my rules of ****ing up immediately. The person (a man) spoke with no apparent accent and by all accounts seemed to be a legit person with legit information about the card and also about me. The fact that he already knew a lot of information about me made me lower my guard in thinking that he may not represent the Discover Card company (Discover Card indeed makes outbound calls). I went ahead a little cautious, and (unfortunately) gave away some personal information that he did not know already (except for my full SSN; I only gave him my last 4 digits of my SSN). Once I was at the point of agreeing to accept the card offer I was given a lot of legal information (that obviously has to be read to the applicant, and asked for confirmation etc). This of course made it appear more legit. At the end I was told that I was going to be put in contact with a third person to continue with my application. A third person joined the conversation (this time a woman with an indian accent) who walked me through more steps requesting additional information. Eventually, once they "processed" my application i was told that only a credit line of $3,000 was accepted, at which point I felt very disappointed and I made it a strong statement that I am NOT interested in their offer. That was the end of our conversation. I had a feeling that so****ing was not quite right, and I honestly did not feel %100 sure that I should be giving any info to someone calling me (instead of me calling them) so I went online and checked the number (1-800-203-4969) to make sure that indeed it belongs to Discover card, and it turned out that it doesn't and that other people had complained about this number as being scammer related (if you google the number you can find many sites referring to iden***y theft regarding this number). At this point I immediately called Discover card directly (1-800-DISCOVER) and told them about the situation and they were able to verify that they do not recognize the number as being affiliated with Discover, and that an application for a credit card on my name was never placed with them. This clearly indicated with no doubt that the 1-800-203-4969 never processed any credit card application for me.. therefore I was a victim of iden***y theft. I immediately reported this incident as well with Equifax and requested a fraud alert to be placed on my credit report, and also requested my free annual credit reports from all three bureaus. So****ing has to be done to stop these scammers from calling and doing what they do."I recommend you immediately call the bureaus and report the incident and place fraud alert on your credit report. Also make sure you call you credit card companies and c****e your "mother's maiden name" to some other password since you may have disclosed this info to the scammers. Also, make sure you request an iden***y theft protection plan (for at least 3 months). The credit cards may offer that for you, or may recommend you some company that offers that for some minimal cost
These fools have been calling my home number up to 5 times a day. I can confirm that a Mary Lopez works there. I shall make 'sensual' conversations with them for as long as they keep harassing me.
These people are incorrigible, they call five times a day minimum, They won't stop calling no matter how many ways you ask or tell then to. One operator then another calls from this same numer it rings in a***n, a***n and a***n. 1-800-302-4969
We get calls from this number numerous times daily. I picked it up initially, and the person identified herself as being with Discover card. As we do not have one or want one, I asked her to stop calling us. The calls continue, though I do not pick them up, and have been going on for weeks.
Same as above...claims to be rep for Discover card. Wants DOB. Won't mail info to house. Says they have 0% apr, no annual fee, for up to a yr.
Same report: claims it is Discover card, wants your DOB & other info.
We keep receiving atleast 3 phone calls a day. They seem to request for all the personal identification details including SSN. This is definitely a scam and not sure how to put a stop to this scam.
