Leave a Commentsame as above, I knew it was a scam when it showed up, get **** like this all the time.
And another thing... despite my unwillingness to waste time, I did try looking up the legalese referred to in the faxed doc. and it doesn't seem to be even related to the ***le it purports to refer to: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/search/disp ... 25----000-.html
Same as above, got a fax saying a domain similar to the one I have registered will expire in 24 hrs. Call toll free: 800-253-6859. Says to call same number, ext. 2677 if "fax received in error." I'm not going to waste my time doing that because I'm sure it's just another way to gather info. Found a consumer alert at http://www.nic.us/ that roughly matches the fax I got.
Got fax on march 10 saying that the .us version of my domain is now available and that I had until March 11 to notify them of my intent to register the .us version of addresses I own.A deadline of at ****mum 2 days seemed a bit rushed, to say the least. What did strike me is that while there was no URL on the notification fax, the recorded message (they close at 6 pm EST) gave a web site and an e-mail address to send a "detailed message."If in fact the most dire hypotheses of other contributers to this comment sheet prove true, it's possible the goal of the fax sender is to elicit information. With roughly three hours left until my right of first refusal expires, I'm going online to see if I can register this domain where my other domains are registered
The I called back, spoke with "Dave Sawyer". He sent me an invoice for $140.00. to retain my internet domain name. He siad the $140.00 would be good for five years. The fax came from 888-232-3985.
I keep getting unsolicited faxes from these people. I argued with the validity of this behavior with some **** who answered their 1-800-253-6859 phone number. I told them I would sue them for $500 per junk fax, which is perfectly legal for me to do. Someone forgot the FCC rules regarding junk faxes, and their intent to confuse the recipients of their faxes is quite obvious.

I looked up the address that they had on their fax and the info I received wasAddress 3537 NW 82nd Ave, D****, 33122Nearest intersection 33rd St Nw & 82nd Ave NwTel (305) 463-8665I called this number and someone picked up and then ***g up the phone. I do not know if this is a good address for this scammer, but I would like to find out.
I tried looking up the owner information and got S****ec as their 1-800 number service provider, feel free to call them at 888-411-1175 or 301-610-4422
Received a fax from a Domain Support Service saying my domain that I never registered has expired and that I need to renew it right away.
i've been receiving their faxes too - on domains that are variations of mine. can someone verify that THEIR fax number in the post above is correct? i'd like to send them a few faxes of my own.
I looked up the website for "http://www.domainsupportservice.com/faq.html" and the registrant is based in Costa Rica. Got the same fax. It is a rip-off organization from, big surprise here, Florida.I fight back with these ****s. I program my computer to send the fax BACK to their voice line... 500 times. Try it, I am sure that it annoys the***** out of them and clogs their phone lines. 800-253-6859
I got the same fax - have about eight years left on my domain registration. This is some sort of bogus scam. Wish someone knew how to put a stop to these clowns.
I received the the same notice. Another waist of my "TIME". You can file a complaint with the FCC but the form takes "TIME".One thing to note: The notice will sometimes say .US or .BIZ instead of .COM so if you don't mind if someone else uses your name with these endings let it go.Let the buyer beware.http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/unwantedfaxes.html
Received a fax from "Domain Support Services" saying that my domain was about to expire. At the bottom, there was a number to call (1-800-253-6859) to let them know you'd received the fax in error. Called the number, told them what happened (that I received the fax, but do not have that domain name), they said they would remove my fax number from the account and to please disregard the notice.
Receiving a fax almost daily now saying some domain that we dont even own is about to expire. Was going to call the number and tell them to F**K OFF but its almost Friday so I will just throw it away a***n.
Same as above, received a Fax claiming that my domain was about to expire. I still have years before it expires. It's a big scam. If someone in Florida receives this contact the State Fraud Dept. Since I'm outside of the state it's hard for me to follow it.
Received a fax of a very official looking do***ent ***led "Urgent Notice of Domain Extension." We have a domain name that is similar (instead of .com which the company owns, we were informed that our site with a .us is "about to expire").
Recieve a message telling me my domain name has expired and I need to re register it, I checked and I still have 4 years before it expires.
