Leave a CommentTHIS ^^Who answers unsolicited calls at 6:00 PM from 1-800 numbers that don't leave voicemails? It's criminal that they expect you to, then punish you if you don't. Does the phrase, "if it's important they'll leave a message" not apply anymore? (To 1-800 numbers, no less?!) Even the "misinformists" (if that's not a word, it should be) have a point: The problem is that the solicitation and collections numbers look so similar (both 1-800-), both leaving no voicemails, both often the ONLY 1-800 calls one receives that behave this way. It's not hard to miss the differences and think them both the same number, then ignore them accordingly instead of spending 20 minutes on hold to ask to be put on a do-not-call list. What makes this especially bad is CIBC's mysterious unwillingness to add "pay the minimum amount"/"pay the full balance" options to their online automatic monthly transactions, evidently the purview of only the best of Silicon Valley programmers. They allow only fixed monthly amounts, which you must c****e manually. So, if you're drawing from a credit line to pay off your Visa and you forget to c****e the fixed autobills to match the new monthly payments, you suddenly (and obliviously) s**** defaulting on your credit line payments WHILE piling a positive balance onto your Visa card WHILE your checking account sits there ready and willing to pay off everything. It's ridiculous.
This number is verified as CIBC National Collections on their website https://www.cibc.com/ca/inside-cibc/dept-contacts.html but what irks me is that they refuse to leave a message on the answering ma****e. I answered once to request that we be taken off their list and they insisted it was a "personal banking matter" of my wife's (who does bank with CIBC but has no account arrears) and "not a solicitation". The problem is likely the autodialers they use being unable to leave messages. If this is the case, the matter can't be urgent, can it?
Spreading Misinformation is not wise, this is a collection department # within CIBC, not a survey, if they are calling you then either deal with it or do not. Probably not so****ing that will just go away and you cannot have the # put on a call block list.
CIBC Visa Called me on Nov 16/09 @ 3:26 pm
It is CIBC - they want to know how the service was at the bank TD does the same. When you do a transaction at either bank they often call for a survey. Irritating I know, scary too!! Someone is keeping close track of our banking. For our American friends, that is Ca***ian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and Toronto Dominion Bank. Try giving the number to your local ***nch and demanding that THEY take you off the list!
I do not have an account with CIBC.Never did NEVER will!
Selling credit card services, insurance on same.
