Leave a CommentSomeone with a strong accent called my son to verify his debit card account number. They also had his address. They told him they work for a marketing company and represented several large corporations. Because of his card usage, he won a $100 gas card and a $25 WalMart gift card and they needed to charge him $4.96 for postage. He foolishly gave him the 3-digit security code from the back of his debit card. He was aware enough to call me immediately after this call. He is in the Marine Corps and I am a signatory on his accounts. I called his credit union to block and re-issue the card and someone had already made a $.01 debit purchase on his card. 800-303-3259 was the phone number of the merchant who charged on his account. They had enough information to drain all the money from his account. I'm glad we stopped it in time.
I got the same call as below but did give them my credit card information...wonder what to do next?
I received a call from a company that said they were Direct Business A**. The man I was on the phone continually repeated himself and told me that I would receive a package at my doorstep in 3-5 days for $1000 shopping spree & $300 food gift card. He said I was randomly chosen but he also had my full name and address & said that I had to pay for the USPS shipping of $9.90 with a credit card. I went to my parents with him on the phone & asked them what I should do & the guy on the phone got upset at me when I told him no.
Wanted me to pay for package to be delivered claiming to be "free" gift cards from Walmart, Target and JCPenney. Also a Grocery card. Only Pay 7.90 for the package and sign. Cut them off when they wanted personal info, and actually got their name and address and reported it to police in address area they "said" they were in. I doubt they are however. All the web shows is "unlimited Talk Long Distance" with this phone number.
Telemarketer misrepresented offering. The "packet of information" arrived in envelope with return address of "Unlimited Talk Long Distance" I almost threw it out - if I had I would have been charged $38.95 per month for a service I did not agree to. What I agreed to was a transferable travel service so my son could add-on extra days to a future business trip. The telemarketer did not say there was a limit of 14 destinations, including 3 I've never heard of.
i don't know who this is but they charged me on that appeared on my bank statement and i have no clue who this is...
They didn't call me but I have a charge on my bank statement from them, and I don't even know who they are or why I'm being charged for so****ing I didn't request.
