Leave a CommentTrying to sell a car, IGNORE THESE PEOPLE
Called to list my boat hich was advertised. I'm just looking for****ential buyers not a listing agency. They left an extension, #269
The reason we place ads are to "sell" so****ing, not to "buy" so****ing. I place ads on racingjunk.com nd these people know nothing regarding racing or the market to expose it to. They are a pain in the****. What ****es me off is their tactics. They come on to you like they are a buyer and then after getting you somewhat "AMPED" up then they solicit, plain and simple. It is an unwanted call, period!! Anyone that supports them sounds to me to be connected wth this company. I got an idea, if they want to help out, let them run the ad for no charge and if we sell a car through their efforts then we can give them a finder's fee. Racingjunk.com has this honor system, I am sure they can. Otherwise call someone who gives a ****....
Thanks for this site! I became su****ious. Just trying to sell a truck I don't need and **** through the frauds that call. This information helps!
They called in reference to my ad post on Craiglist and of course not to but the car.
Had 2 calls on my answering ma****e about my 66 Biscayne from these people, wasn't sure if it was the real thing or not, they got my contact number from Kijiji which is the only place my car has ever been listed and only listed it very recently. In an effort to find who they were I stumbled across this information. There was nothing misleading about the calls, but it sounded as though they might be buyers. Thanks for the insite.
Had the same guys call me about selling an RV in Calgary.Seem to be hitting all the auto sites. Did a check on their ebay account and they haven't really sold too much in the last 6 months off it. The pitch to me was my price was amazing and I'd have it sold by Friday and they do this all the time for people off ebay...well after looking at the 5-6 sales in the past 6 months on their ebay store I've decided a***nst it. Hope this helps.

Well, I'm just stumped. I'm no idiot, I'm 35 and have a mustang listed in the autotrader in alberta, ca***a. Classyauto has called me twice now and I'm seriously thinking of listing my car with them. I have done my homework and research and I haven't found anything bad, besides the woman asking 20k more than her car was worth and she decided to file a complaint. I've read about SEVERAL celebrities using them. Who knows? Their job is to find buyers and if they can get me more action than I've seen from idiots with no money from the autotrader, then it might not be so bad. I'll keep ***ting for negative stuff on them and if nothing else turns up, I'm gonna fall for it! haha. And, regardless of the results, I'll write back on this site to let you know how it turned out.
Who in their right mind would pay these people $200-300 to help sell their car when they just paid Autotrader's listing price.
I sold my car through the eBay auction they placed, and they were great to work with. Everyone claiming they are a scam should REALLY do there homework. 1.) If they were a "SCAM", why would they be in good standing with the BBB? Yes they have complaints, but so does EVERY company that does any business. Try looking up a BBB report on ANY major company. 2.) They carry a great feedback rating with eBay. 3.) When they leave a message for you, just because they ask if the car is still for sale, means NOTHING. Stop reading into it, not like they are SAYING "Hey, I am calling to buy your car". Fact remains, I bet everyone on this site, has never done there OWN homework, and should maybe open their eyes and make a SMART choice and look at CREDITABLE(not some person who is crying because they can't sell an overpriced car) sources for the info on ANY company.....
yup its al BS dont waste your time
It's definitely a scam, and anyone who says otherwise is probably employed by them. I tell them that I will pay them DOUBLE their fee, when they bring me a buyer who will buy my car. They won't so they don't have anyone in mind. They typically call after your listing has expired on Autotrader, poa****g.Scammers.
Thanks for posting that it is a scam. Almost fell for it. At least there are some honest people out there to say don't do it. God Bless.
They pose as if they were a customer for your vehicle that you have forsale while never really identifying themselves. Once you phone them...of course they try to talk you into an expensive ad with their fly by night company.
These poachers or scam artists....are even trying to ***** us Ca***ians now....just got a call for them. The worst part about them....is they pose as a****ential customer for your vehicle when they leave a message otherwise they know they won't get a call back.If your company wants to be a legit company....tell us who you are in your message. Until then people are going to call it as they see it.
Anyway... back to people who don't work for classy auto...
They keep calling me and in the middle of the conversation disconnects the call when I try to ask more about their company. This has happened quite a few times now. I suspect it involves fraud.
its honestly just bothersome..he keeps calling bout a car that I DONT EVEN HAVE! an i even told himn wrong number but he called back..TWICE!
here is press release I found on google.http://www.bttf.com/index.php?/weblog/more/zz ... _classyautocom/
Do a little research before you call a legitimate company a scam too. That is not smart. Look them up with the BBB, look them up on Ebay, look them up on their website. If you then still think it is a scam... obviously you cannot read. They are a member of the BBB with an excellent report and carry a great feedack record on Ebay, or I would never have listed my cars with them. I have seen numerous cars on classyauto that are being sold by professional athletes, celebrities, etc. Do you think a pro athlete is going to advertise their cars with a scam? I also saw a press report about classy auto listing and selling a $250,000 classic Ferrari for the drummer from the band ZZ Top!It amazes me how skeptical some people are and making judgements without any facts at all... how comical.
Actually the company calling you is one of Ebays top auto sellers and they actually do a brilliant job selling cars and trucks and helping people sell on Ebay(the #1 auto selling site). I am pretty sure they did not earn a 2007 Ebay Top Seller award by "NOT" selling vehicles... Did you actually think to listen to what they offer? They are only offering to help you out.I have listed several cars with them and they do a much better job in my oppinion than any other website to include the ones mentioned above... It costs more because you GET MORE. If you want to sell a cheap car...go with autotrader , cars or craigslist because that is your demographic. If you want to sell a higher end vehicle and find people with money... pay a little more and get results with classyauto and ebay. Bottom line: You get what you pay for.
Almost fell for the scam unitl I read everyone's notes. Thanks to all of you men and women out there.
How do you get these guys to stop calling? You tell them no, then when it comes time to renew your ad in Auto Trader, they call all over a***n like i just posted it for the first time? I need to sell my truck, but I did not pay all this money for them to call and harass me, ugh....what a scam!!
got a call first thing this morning from this #. just listed car on autotrader.com late last night. they didn't leave a message.
I got one of these calls too. It's Isaac (x 214). Looks like they are poa****g listings from AutoTrader. They offer two "packages" for either $250 or $319. I spent about $40 at AutoTrader, another $40 at Cars.com, and another $0 (yes, zero) at craigslist. It's the lead from craigslist that actually bought my car. If you are selling your car, list it on craigslist at a compe***ive price. It's free, and you'll be amazed at how well it does. FYI - I got *ZERO* calls through Cars.com and only 1 call from AutoTrader (not counting the spam). It's *OK* to list higher than "Kelly Blue Book Excellent" cause their prices tends to be low.
Yeah, I had the same thing happen, its really not worth the hassle, it is all scam.
They just called and left a message. The guy (Rich, ext 239) sounded like he was really interested by saying that he was 'calling to see if it was still available.' This is the second commercial caller I've received since posting my car on Auto Trader.
