Leave a CommentWe thought it was complete SPAM, so we called the number on our credit card...sure enough, there were fraudulent charges made! ALWAYS call the number in the back of your CC, NEVER the number from whatever schmuck calls you!
I just received a message to call this number for my wife's credit card. I did not call the 800 379-8461 number, but did call the number on the back of my wife's card. The call was legitimate and there were two fraudulent charges on her card. There may be spammers using the number as well. Who knows what motivates spammers. If in doubt, call the number on the back of your credit card. Do not ignore the message.
Received a text from this number indicating that the are the Fraud department for my CC. They included the name of the bank that services the CC. Being paranoid about such things, I called the number on the back of my card. I was automatically redirected to the fraud department and they had a number of transactions I had just made on hold waiting for my verification. Since they were legit transactions, I approved them. As always, call your CC company directly at the phone number from the statement or from the back of the card anytime you need to contact them. That's the only safe way to handle communications about your card.
That's a lie

call from 800-379-8461.. I do not answer calls with no name.. but oddly today is Sunday just before 5pm.. Did the rules c****e??
BOTTOM LINE: Always ALWAYS call the number on your statement or on the back of the card. Always. Do not give information about your credit card to anyone calling from this number. And those people who are telling you it's okay to do so are more than likely involved in the scam and simply trying to keep it alive.
FRAUD! Do not give any information!I received a call that was routed through privacy director. Message left on the ma****e from mush mouth saying her name was asdpodf calling from "fraud prevention" about recent activity on my garble, garble, garble card with the last four digits of ****. Then gave this number to call back 24-7 to go through their automated system to prevent any problems using my card. Checked online and there is absolutely no activity at all on my card, and I know when my bank calls, they show up on the caller ID.
This is a scam company. Do not call them back or give them your information.Based on my phone number, he said that there were two charges on the card there were 'pending' and that I would need to accept them or decline them. When the guy asked for my card information, I did not get a good feeling and told them that I would call the number on the back of my credit card and asked for fraud department. My credit card company said that there have been no charges on the account in the last 4 days!!!!This is a SCAM.DONT GIVE THEM ANYTHING!**** up and call you credit card company to verify directly!

Said that they were a marketing company and that a debit charge had been declined the day before. Press 1 to accept, Press 2 to hear a***n, Press 3 to decline. No name of marketing company no name of bank. Keep calling! Have refused to answer the phone when seeing this number!
I took the call and they wanted my husband. She said that he should return the call as it was regarding fraud with his credit card. We will see when he calls. She gave me this number to have him return the call to, as it only showed up as OUT OF AREA on my phone with no number.
