Leave a CommentGot a call on office line. These guys are awful.
Harassing calls
Collection agency for unknown nonexistent debt
18004800937. They claim to be ELCCA 700 Long Water Drive Norwell MA.Keep calling for months with a message for a person I never heard of before. In the recorded message they do not tell who they are, nor what they want. However, what make me believe they are a fraud is the fact that they say in the message: "If you keep listening you confirm that you are ...".
A recorded message caller keeps annoying me by asking for a party whom I don't know and does not reside at this address. The number is:
Your information is incorrect. I am sure you are also a bar certified lawyer or a federal lawyer correct, or admitted by the courts as an officer of the court? If your not, you can not comment on law, like what is or is not in a law. But then you just proved debt collectors are just scam artists doing things a***nst the law.Next, since I am an officer of the court, 9th US District Court. I can say, that there are several laws that define what harassment is, and how business is to be conducted. Several things are redundant and are covered under several acts, and several sections of USFT/UC/USPC. The Fair Debt Collection Act, ( I noted you said Collections "Practice" and not "Act") states that a debt collector can not contact anybody but the person owing the debt. They can not call work numbers, The hours of contact are not before 8 am and not after 8 pm for the location of the number being called. They can not call more than once a week. They must state who they are as a person and who they represent and what the call is regarding. Under the Electronic Communications Act, All companies must list their caller ID, they can not s**** or block their caller ID. Companies are allowed only a 12 hour window to make calls, are prohibited from calling before 8 am and after 8 pm for the time zone of the area code being called. They must identify themselves as a person, and the company they represent. They must provide a direct call back number including extension if needed. Under the Financial Information Portability and Privacy Act, all ins***utions and companies in the financial market, including debt collection agencies, can only contact the consumer directly, and only the consumer. contacting anybody else regarding the consumer is prohibited. Callers have to identify who they are as a person, , what company they represent, who and what they are calling about. And once a***n, callers are restricted to the calling hours of 8 am and 8 pm for the time zone of the area code being called. The Telecommunications Consumer Protection Act, states that any company, organization, group, individual that calls and is not a person known to the party being called, more than once a day is harassment. It also states that debt collection agencies and telemarketers using automatic dialing ma****es or computer telephony systems, must instantly disconnect when they get an answering ma****e or voice mail. The Do Not Call Act Do Not Disturb Act states that all calls to a cellular or mobile or ship to s**** phone, by any company not personally known to the party being called, and for any other reason other than work related business, are prohibited. That telemarketers and debt collection agencies are allowed to call only during the hours of 8 am and 8 pm, for the time zone of the area code being called. That if requested, not to call a***n, they must not call a***n. There are also other acts and sections of the USFT/UC/USPC that covers how a debt collector and debt collection agency must act. Most of them also provide the provision that of a debt collector breaks these rules and is found guilty of doing so, the debt is automatically wiped away, the collection agency and the originating creditor are also fines, and the item is expunged off the credit reports.Know your laws. If you have a problem, get a good lawyer and go after these people, because debt collectors rely on the fact you do not know the law and they can intimidate you....
I got a lot of automated collection calls from them, but never live person. Apparently the calls were not intended for me. I was not able to understand the computer generated voice recorded by my answering ma****e, so I called wrong numbers to stop these collection calls. They never sent mail to my address. Today I stayed home for a phone job interview and EOS CCA computer called me, when I was expecting the interview call. Since it was not recording, I was able to understand the EOS CCA phone number correctly , called back and complained about the annoying collection calls.I wounder if what they do is legal? They program their computers to disrupt other people lives and provide no written communication.
I just received a call from this EOCCA and the person wanted the last 4 digits of my social security...I asked her who she was and she said that as soon as I gave her the numbers she would tell me..so I got rude to and asked a***n who this EOCCA was and she got rude-er and ***g up. This time she used Unavailable or this other number 877-489-1148.
If you want to talk about harassment, you need only call this number. It is a phone number for a Debt Collector (supposedly.) I received a phone call from family members saying they answered a harassing telephone call looking for me. I have not lived at that residence in nearly fifteen years! When I called the telephone number, I was asked to verify my address. When they read it to me, it was an address from ten years ago, and it was an address never****ociated with the "account" they were attempting to collect upon. When she dove into the "this is why I'm calling spiel," I knew it was for a situation in which I had already filed a dispute (someone obtained a cell phone account using my SS#, and I had a formal complaint filed with AT&T......who I also called today after receiving the recorded message from this company and verified the dispute was still open.) The woman kept interrupting me and saying, "so how come you haven't paid?" and "your dispute has been denied. That's why you have to pay us," etc. I knew that "your dispute has been denied" was a lie since I had spoken with an AT&T representative today. When I attempted to tell this person this information, she became rude and said, "no ma'am...you haven't spoken to ANYONE here today!" Well....considering "here" isn't AT&T....I proceeded to s**** a***n, and a***n, I was interrupted. It got to the point that I had to say, "excuse me. You are being rude, and you are interrupting me. I am showing you nothing but respect, and I expect the same in return." She became even more nasty. I told her that I would gladly contact AT&T and have them fax her over any paperwork she required showing my still very much open dispute with them (a dispute I was****ured would be rectified.) When I began speaking to her about correcting my contact information, she said, "I'll make a note of that in the account," and ***g up on me.What did I do that most people don't?I called them back.I reached another person, and I told her I just wanted to update my contact information. She took it all down, and then she said, "so when are you going to pay us?" I told her I would have AT&T fax over paperwork to them, thanked her for her time, and I ***g up the telephone.** This debt collection company is ruthless and rude. Heaven forbid someone have a legitimate billing error in which their iden***y was compromised. When you attempt to intelligently explain to them what's going on, they will interrupt you and **** up on you.
These people keep calling my home phone number asking for a "sara coleman"They are probably trying to collect a debt, but they have the wrong number, and they refuse to stop calling me even when I tell them they have the wrong number.Does anybody know how I can take legal action a***nst this company?I sent e-mail to all the directors of the company this morning, because one of the employees threatened to call me "every 5 minutes"
These people are a**holes and they dont give a ripe of what you have to say!!! They are just plain flat out a**holes!!!!!
Received a call on my business phone regarding my ATT cell phone. I called the number back and spoke with Cynthia who was able to set up a payment plan for me. Everything was fine until she asked me to hold for a second so she could get a confirmation...a man suddenly got on the phone and kept saying "uhh*****o?*****o?*****o?" I said*****ooo and he told me the payment was fine and if I had any questions then call back and ask for Cynthia. I don't understand why he had to get on the phone but whatever. Then I remembered that I forgot to update my contact information so I called back and this guy answered who had no idea what he was doing. There was so much background noise and I had to repeat myself at least 30 times before he did anything. I think I am going to call back and make sure he did what he was supposed to.
Another call to my home in search for someone not listed at my home phone. The caller, using a recorded message, that is incomplete. How can I stop these calls???
the caller(s) are continually calling for someone not listed at my home phone. they are using a recorded message and I am unable to respond that they have the wrong number. this is the 4th call in less than one week. how can I stop these calls?
I've received 3 calls from the above number in as many days. The caller is attempting to contact someone that is not listed at my home phone number. These calls have been recorded messages. Short of c****ing my phone number, what else can I do to stop them?????
this is the 2nd call received from the above number. the caller is trying to reach some one not listed on my home phone number. what can I do to stop these annoying calls?
Some one is calling from the above number trying to contact someone not listed at my home phone. That same someone leaves a recorded message. I am unable to respond since it is recorded. What must ai do to get them to stop calling?
I had a voice ma****e stating my full first and last name. I dont even have ATT like you guys but they did say they were E0CCA or so****ing. There's a voice messge saying if you are him stay on the phone and this will comfirm you're him. I ***g up thinking its some bull s**t adverti*****t. I was stumped because how did they get my full first and last name. So i decided to call them back with a privated number 1 hour later. It's weird because when i called they said they were a collection agency. They asked if i was "my full first and last name". I said no and ***g up. It's very weird because when i called them back i blocked my number but they still asked if i was "my full name". I'm wondering if it really is a collection agency looking for me but all my bills are up to date.
I got a bil from them saying they wanted $921.33 to pay off At&T Mobility. I have never had At&t so i called them to see whats going on they didnt even know me or the account # that is on the letter i got. Sounds like a scam to me
I got the phone call to request to call 800-434-8681. The call was generated from ma****e. How can we report for government to stop this annoying call?
Get this call in cycles, saying "if you are ________, please call this number". There have been 6+ different names, a couple people I knew but don't even live (and never have) lived in this state much less my phone number.
Jane - you should report them to the FCC regardless. I have FDCPA certification, and they are definitely violating it, at least with me. I sent this company a certified cease and desist letter a number last February and thought it was done, but just got an automated call yes****ay, and I'm not even the person they are looking for. I called the 800 number and tried to get the rep to give me business ID #, physical address of corporate office, what "EOSCCA" stands for. Apparantly, the CCA is Collections Company of America, but the EOS doesn't mean anything.Usually, these are old debts sold to bottom-feeding companies like CCA and they will use whatever tactics they can to collect. Maybe if enough complaints are filed, so****ing will be done. One can only hope. :)
I do not have any delinquent debts, yet this caller phones daily. Yes****ay they gave my daughter reference numbers, etc. but with no name of any specific company that we supposedly owe money to.
I'd like to tell you. I am a collector. I have been for six years. There is no where in the Fair debt collections practices act that "defines harassment" The way most agency's go is that it is 4 calls per day or once an hour. That may seem like a lot, but they honestly do not know when you will pick up. The "agreement" the collection company came together with the owner of the debt states they will do everything within their power to collect this money. Cally your neighbors, friends and relatives are all perfectly fine if they are unable to reach you at home for a "period of time". Also if you did not provide the collection company with your employment information or said "i have none or not working" they could****ume that you are lying and "skip trace those who know you best to find out otherwise" Be careful on whom you pass off threats of garnishment or tax seizures. I know At&t may not be doing it on the 1st of the month, but i work with student loans and those require no legal action. IF you refuse to pay or your information has been in the office over 30 days they can submit the garnishment. They may have the wrong address for you so you may not get notified. And 45 to 60 days later you have 15% being taken from your net pay. I hope this was helpful information. Also collectors are not able to be used via recordings in the court of law. Do not ask me why, I do not know. So if you are seriously having an issue with the collector i would call the "fair trade commission not the fcc" and the better business bureau. Good luck.
Automated call. Got picked up by my ma****e several times. They are looking for a gentleman who does not live at this number. I was given 800-434-8681 to call back in order to remove myself from their list. I called during non-business hours and the recording said that they were an AT&T company. I also believe they are a collections company. When I called back during business hours, they told me that they are "EOCCA, a personal business" company. They are rude and annoying. They wanted to make sure I didn't know the gentleman they were trying to reach. I asked them to take me off their list.If they continue to call me, can I report them to the FCC?

My wife finally got through to them, they really don't have their act together: difficult to get them, difficult to understand them, but in our case it appears legit. They didn't ask for info but already had it. It's in regards to an AT&T DEBT that we SETTLED MONTHS AGO. They claim they just got a letter from AT&T about it. The people were polite and professional. But I think the name is different from the company one's above have been dealing with, maybe they finally got sued too many times and decided to become more legal in their tactics. I've seen other's report that this agency is calling about an old AT&T account that was already settled. So it's s****ing to appear this is an ISSUE WITH AT&T NOT THIS AGENCY. Personally for this reason and many others, including bad single and an awful time with drop calls, I don't plan to ever use AT&T a***n.
They've s****ed harrassing my wife at work. However, it appears that this is one of many collection agencies that have trained their people in illegal tactics to cause debtors to react emotionally. The thought is if we can get them mad or afraid enough they'll pay to be left alone. However, most of these tactics are illegal. Collectors have a right to ask for their money back but it must be done politely, considerately and not using harrassing tactics.According to the FEDERAL FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES, a consumer law passed by Congress in 1977, a collector can only call between the hours of 8am and 9pm your time (not theirs). They can only call about once every one to two weeks. More than that and you don't have to take their call. Also you can demand that they stop calling you at work. This should be done by certified mail with return receipt requested. Also, a collector cannot call and discuss your situation with anyone other than you, this includes family members and friends. If they threaten to take your bank account or garnish your wages its a bluff. They can only do this after proper and lengthy court actions. If you're being harrassed and have followed the proper procedures and are working on paying them back, let the collector know you are recording their conversation. If you catch them breaking one of these, ask to speak to their legal department. At which point they may ask you what you want to not sue them. For more info check out Financial Peace University at:www.daveramsey.com/fpu/home/

Scam - called stating that they are a collections agency from my cell phone company. I know for a fact that I have no bad debt there. They had my Social Security Number. I don't know what is going on.
I too am getting this phone call. The weird thing is that i do not provide my cell # to many people and I am on the do not call list. When they are calling me it comes up private. When I did answer the girl said she was looking for me and I of course not knowing who she was said I wasn't availabe. She told me that it is very important to call back about a personal business matter. I have gotten a call before and gotten into an argument because she would not tell me who they were but they wanted my social security number. I would not give to them. I told them if they want my information, they have to give me theirs. They too ***g up on me.
called and said it was urgent that i call back the 800 number. Important message re: someone from my family. Went online and looked up the 800 number... as i thought a SCAM... Identified themselves as CCA - Female caller
Received at least four calls. They left a message on my ma****e. They asked for a John Galveston (or so****ing that sounded like that last name, saying they were trying to reach him, that if I weren't him to **** up -- which this time I did
I keep getting a call from this number as well. Very annoying.
Very rude, intimidating and says it is from CCA. I don't know what CCA even is.
several times per week I get a message that is a recording saying "This is William Knox with CCA and I've made several attempts to call you" blah blah blah. (I kow that the message left is a recorded message because it's always the same exact wording.)I don't deal with a company called CCA and I don't know who William Knox is, but if he REALLY needed me to call him back he would use a human voice and leave a message with actual detail about the call.
I received a message on my answering ma****e. The tone of the man was rude and indicated that they'd been trying to get a hold of me and that I should call back as soon as possible. When I returned the call, the first thing the woman asked me for was my phone number which I though was weird as they had called me. She refused to give me any information about CCA and I refused to give her my #. We went around and around and she ended up ****ing up on me. I know we don't have any outstanding bills so I'm not too worried but it sure was strange.
I was called at home and was in an answering que for over 35 minutes listening to a repeated message telling me 'it is important that we speak with you, we'll be with you shortly' I wanted to see who the company was so I used a hands free device and did other things while waiting. Is there any way to BLOCK THESE CALLS???
recorded message for someone i've never heard of. calling on cell number
Very rude young lady answered phone. They are a collection agency collecting fraudulent funds. She said she was collection on past debt from a cell phone bill. A call to cell phone company didn't have any info about that debt. This is a dangerous SCAM company.
left message to call back with a account number? for my ex husband of over 5 years???
Rec'd call on Jan 14, 2009 @ 10:59 AM MST, Jan 19, 2009 @ 11:38 AM MST, Jan 22, 2009 @ 9:59 AM MST, Jan 27, 2009 @ 2:19 PM MST, Jan 30, 2009 @ 11:13 AM MST, and Feb 13, 2009 @ 9:41 AM MST, & Feb 23, 2009 @ 5:05 PM MSTThey are a collections company calling to collect a debt for AT&T.I understand that and know they are not covered by the DNC.I don't mind when they call me, however, if I'm not home to answer the phone or I can't answer the phone because I'm giving my son a bath or c****ing his d***er, they automatically put it down as if they don't know where I am (though my name is clearly on my answering ma****e and I've spoken to them several times in the past) and then they s**** skip tracing and calling all my old roommates and my family members who live in CA, NV, and CO.That ****es me off. They are flat out harrassing my parents and old roommates who don't even live in the same state as me.I guess their policy is: Pay us or We'll harass everyone you know!
I think they're a collection agency. Beware of being scammed by them trying to collect on so****ing you don't owe!!!
I got a call from 1-800-434-8681 and they didn't say who they were and they said it was very important that I call them back and they also mentioned that they are not selling anything. I didn't call them back. Red flags popped up in my mind that this is some type of scam and I'm afraid that once I call them back, I will s**** receiving calls from all kinds of sellers, because I made the call to this scam #. If you know who this caller is, let me know or post it. Thanks
I have received several calls from this number all of which are a recording that has a man's voice with lots of noise in the background. The recording says I should call back regarding important business information. I called back before to get my name off the list however I was automatically put on hold. Mad, I ***g up. Once a***n I have received a call, this time I called them back. Apparently they are a company called CCA that provides business information. Only after calling back did I find out that they were trying to contact someone else. I tried to tell them they are a pain in the a** but she ***g up on me.
recorder message telling me to call back?
I got several calls from them.
