Leave a CommentI was so excited when I got hired to get my first real job. Well before weeks end I realized this was not a company I wanted to work for. I quit over email the Sunday before the next week s****ed. Terrible way to quit I know but I just couldn't give 2 weeks notice because I did not want to be part of ripping people off and I just didn't want to face all of those scammers! Well then I didn't paid my full amount! And I didn't receive my check until over a month and a half after I quit! And it bounced at first! And they at first wouldn't answer me regarding my check until I threatened to report them but then they answered with how dare I****ume that they wouldn't pay me. He did not answer a***n until I appoligized for acting childi*** Ridiculous! But I just observed them lying and lying and lying and laughing at upset customers. They only cared about themselves and I am so happy I got out when I did!
Just received a call from them a few minutes before I happened upon this story from our local newspaper:AG: Calif. company duped Minn. homeownersBy PAUL WALSH, Star TribuneAn out-of-state mortgage company is being accused of cheating Minnesota homeowners out of thousands of dollars by masquerading as their current lender.A lawsuit filed Monday in Hennepin County District Court by Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson alleges that Meredian Financial Corp. of Costa, Mesa., Calif., pretended to be homeowners' current mortgage company in order to ***n their trust, then collected fees for refinancing services not delivered."Meredian targeted homeowners struggling in the troubled economy who were looking to get out of an adjustable-rate mortgage or lower their interest rate by refinancing," Swanson said in a statement announcing the suit. The company's tactics, she said, "left homeowners with the short end of the stick."Numerous online consumer blogs indicate that Mededian has been carrying out this alleged scheme for the past few years. Also, regulators in Georgia last year ordered Meredian to stop doing business in their state.A telephone message was left with Meredian seeking reaction to the suit. Here's how the attorney general's office says the scheme worked:Meredian presented itself as a homeowner's current mortgage lender, sometimes mentioning the consumer's lender by name, other times not. Meredian then made numerous false representations including low fixed rates, no out-of-pocket expenses, no appraisal requirement, and that the refinance had already been approved by an underwriter, in order to get them to pay up-front "rate-lock" fees.Meredian said that these fees -- typically from $1,000 to $4,000 -- would be refunded at closing, which it contended would occur within 30-45 days.Once Meredian obtained the fees, it would cease work on the loan, creating excuses such as asking for do***ents the homeowner had already provided or that were irrelevant to the refinance, or c****ing the terms of the refinance with higher rates and fees.Homeowners who attempted to cancel and requested that Meredian return their up-front fees were denied refunds.
I got the same exact message as stated above on previous posts. I am on the do not call list as well and will file a complaint.Thank you for the heads up.
Have received two calls from them even though I have no accounts with this company. I am on Do Not Call List.
I got the same call and I'm on the do not call list. So much for the do not call list the Gov has another thing the Gov has that does not work. Can't anyone stop them1-800-470-2791. when I said I was on the don not call list the said it was a business call and I said no I did not ask you to call me so it is tela marketing
I got the exact same message (we have caller ID and didn't answer it because it said "no data" or "incoming call" on our phones) in voice mail. I am sooooo glad I Googled the phone number to find all the info you wonderful people have posted! What's crazy is, we are modifying our loan with our mortgage co., so why would we want to deal with this "underwriting department"???
got the same messages as listed above. i lol as they offered me a higher rate than i am paying....like ya i want to pay more sign me up........ NOT! i am on the NO CAll List also .....i am getting more and more calls like this.....beginning to think that no call list doesnt even work and how do they get unlisted numbers to begin with thats what i would like to know
I called to tell them NOT to call me a***n but all I got was recorded messages and then was asked to leave my name and return phone number. The automated message said it was from "Meridian Financial Corporation" but they are clearly nothing more than a scam.
Someone named Nicole called from this number to our house. We had apparently been pre-approved for a lower mortgage rate. Trouble is...our house has been paid off for 27 years! Good luck, Nicole....
i work there (well not anymore, last week was my last week there and THANK GOD FOR THE EYE OPENER) and let me tell you...DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SALES PITCHES. this company is all about scams. their telemarketers answer their phones by saying "Underwriting Department" when there IS NO UNDERWRITING department at that company. PLEASE people,, do NOT do NOT do NOT do business with these people. the company doesn't know this but last week was my last week! i can not be a part of their fraud scams ripping people. they make me sick! i don't know how the FEDS haven't shut this place down, given that the owner already has a prior rap sheet for INSURANCE FRAUD.
Basically same message indicated in other reports. Caller did not identify their company. We're on the national DO NOT CALL registry. I wish they would get fined the ****mum amount for violating the regulations.
I just called in the Do Not Call Registry and registered my complaint about 714-991-5420 and also added the 1-800-470-2791 number stated in their recorded message. I am still bothered about the slick part of the message where the woman says push 2 'to refuse government help'. This might really fool some poor folks.
I got the same message, offering a mortgage interest rate HIGHER than what I pay now. There is no way my current lender would be cooperating with the group. On my caller ID the # displayed was 714-991-5420. To add to the ******ity of the call, the message went on to say push #9 to get on their 'do not call list' and push another number 'to refuse government help'. They sure have a lot of gall. BTW, I, also am on the 'Do Not Call List'. How can we ever stop these calls??!!
Got a voice message from 714-991-5420, caller ID of Anaheim, CA. The message was the same as the one given by DontLikeTelemarketing.I, too, encourage everyone to file a complaint with www.donotcall.gov for both the caller ID number and the 1-800-470-2791 number.
Received a taped call from 714-881-7450, claiming to be from "the underwriting department" offering a reduced rate, and urging me to call 800-470-2791. I called that 800 number and was told it was Meridian Financial, claiming they had an agreement with my lender to offer a lower rate. Sounds like a scam to me.
The phone message did not say who it was from. "Based on your current payment activity, our department has been authorized to improve your interest rate and reduce your monthly payments with no out of pocket costs. The interest rate you have been preaprroved for is 5.375%, and in most cases, we are able to improve that rate. Blah blah blah... Please call our underwriting department at 18004702791 ... blah blah blah... This is the only notice that you will receive, and this interest rate and preapproval are only good for 3 BUSINESS DAYS!!... blah blah blah...They feel free to call numbers that are on the Do Not Call list. Why would I bother to believe anything they say? They should not be calling anyone that has registered their number on the do not call list. Please join me in reporting this number every time they call.
Offer to lower my mortgage to 4.75%. (Only trouble is that my mortgage is already lower). Identified themselves as Meridian Financial Co. out of Costa Mesa, CA.
