Leave a CommentJust got a call from 866-866-2153 ("toll free caller") saying they were w/ BOA asking me to enter the last two digits of my zip or the last 4 digits of my SSN. Since I am in the process of refinancing my mortgage w/ BOA I first thought it might be in reference to that, but after I punched in the last two numbers of my zip code a man came on and said they were calling about my BOA credit card with the last four digits of ****. He said a payment is due tomorrow and he was just calling "as a courtesy" to ask if arrangements had been made to make a payment. Immediately smelling a rat I told him I've never been late on paying my bills and that it was none of his business and that if BOA had anything to discuss with me that he could give me a phone number and I'd call them. He gave me the number 800-487-0396 and ***g up. I Googled it and found this site. I called the number on the back of my BOA credit card and told a rep about this. She said BOA does NOT call to remind people they have an upcoming payment due and that my account is in perfect standing. She took the information and said she'd report it. I did find the 800 number linked to FIA Credit Services, but whenever I've had any question about my BOA credit card, I've called BOA directly, not FIACS.Do NOT give out any personal information to anyone who calls you! Always get a phone number, then check out the phone number, then call what you know to be a legitimate phone number (in this case BOA, not some random 800 number), and call them back. Also, do NOT confirm ANY personal information to anyone who calls like this. A scammer could already have all your personal information before they call. ALWAYS ask for a number to call them back. Google the number and if you don't recognize it, if they claimed to be from BOA or wherever, call a legitimate number for that company yourself. Do NOT automatically call any number back without verifying it's legit.

Look, just call them back with number they leave, NOT the Caller ID #. First it IS Bank of America, they also bill as FIA Card Services which handles credit cards for SEVERAL financial ins***utions. Second: They are calling because you're late on your payment...or your check bounced and now it's late...or one of several reasons your account has become past due. If you don't call and your account gets to be more than 30days past due, gues what? They report it to Credit...THEY HAVE TO, its FEDERAL LAW! Third, OF COURSE THEY ASK YOU TO VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT! You don't want some hacker stealing your financial info .... or do you????Fourth, Bank of America IS A BIG BANK!! They have calling centers that do OUTGOING calls and Call centers that do INCOMMING calling...they don't crossover and usually are in completely different states! it's normal business practices.Look what they are doing is trying to HELP YOU KEEP YOUR ACCOUNTS IN GOOD STANDING!~Call them, make your payment and keep your accounts and credit in GOOD STANDING!It's for your own good...(kinda like your mother used to tell you about taking your medicine!)
Called my place of employment - had no idea why. Called and asked them to NEVER bother me a***n - have no cc's - want no cc's.
Identifyed themselves as card services and would give no info. probably a phising scam
Received the call today from this same number. Claiming to be Bank of America "Card Services" just did not sound right at all. I didn't give them anything and looked up the number. Thanks for the heads up!
Called my work and left a cryptic message. When I called back the number, the message said "We cannot determine your card number. Please give us your social security number so we may better****ist you."Um, no, I won't.
I know **** well BoA hasn't bought the CC business of AmEx or CitiBank or Chase; and theirs are the only CCs I have and I owe nothing on them. There is no way I can give them a BoA CC number since I don't have one. And I'm certainly not giving a stranger on the phone my SS number.
They are constantly calling my cell and it comes up but now they are calling my work. i HAVE GOTTEN ONLINE AND EMAILED THEM ASKING FOR THE CALLS TO STOP. i NOW JUST GIVE THEM MY ATTORNEY'S PHONE NUMBER.
In 2006 Bank of America bought out MBNA. At the same time, MBNA c****ed its name to FIA Card Services. Card Services now controls most credit cards, lines of credit, and consumer finance loans issued in the United States except for Discover cards. Some financial Ins***utions Card Services is partnered with include SunTrust Bank, M&T Bank, PNC Bank, Wachovia Bank, and obviously Bank of America. They are not a scam at all. Also, it is not illegal for them to call you at work unless you specifically send a Cease and Desist letter requesting they stop calling you at work. However, FIA Card Services policy claims they will honor "verbal Cease and Desist requests," meaning that if you request they stop calling you at work, they're supposed to stop.
Had a message left for me from "debt services" regarding account information that neede updated from KCF Federal Savings Bank. No freakin' clue what they were talking about. So checked it out and glad I did.
They are a company working for B of A to collect on past due payments. IT IS ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO CALL YOU AT WORK.
It is actually Bank of America, but their customer service is horrendous. I've asked them a number of times to stop calling me, but they still call daily for two weeks out of every month. I wish I knew a way to make them stop.
I received same call...message on my ma****e to call 800-487-0396 from 'card services' no indication which credit card company, just a message to call about my account. Decided to Google the number and found this site, as well as other sites on which negative comments about phone number were found. THANKS!!!!
I also got the same call. It's not Bank of America. They ask u for the card number and the SSN, buch of ****.DOn;t fall for it.
I had a voicemail on my home phone. The caller said they might have a solution for me. She identified herself as calling from "card services". Glad I checked before returning the call.
They have called me 7 times, both at work and on my cell phone, one right after the other from the 800-487-0396 number. Every time it's a different person, each saying "card services" and I have a few cards, so realistically it could be any one of them. I called back to see what it was all about and if you don't know your card number, because why would you, you don't know where they're calling from, the next question is your social security number, and then I ***g up.....SCAM!
