Leave a Comment****s! couldn't write the # down since I was driving but after reading this I checked my online account... they lowered my credit limit from over $18,000 to $4,810! thanks a lot, I'm now suddenly $100 from my limit and my debt-to-available-credit ratio is TRASH. canceling this POS account as soon as I can!!
Received a similar call. Just ***g up the phone. There are a lot of scams out there today taking advantage of people. Why can't our government get on these people???
It's from ****IBANK... I had checked my Citi account on Wednesday, before this call, and then checked the account this morning after the call. These****holes reduced my credit line by $11,000 overnight! Been with the company since 1999 and this is how they treat loyal customers. Citi took $45 BILLION in bailout money - our tax dollars, and this is how they treat the American consumer! (source: http://bailout.propublica.org/main/list/index). The Federal Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure, or Credit CARD, Act of 2009 takes effect on Feb 22, 2010, and this is what Citi does on the eve of that law taking effect.Your best recourse is to contact your Congressman and COMPLAIN:http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfmhttps://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml
It left a message that was cut off at the beginning urging me to call back with a PIN number and claiming to be from Citi. I have a Citi card, but did not recognize the number and I did not call back. Checked my Citi account online today, and noticed that my credit line was decreased by $500. I've been with a customer with these****holes since 1999, have never made a late payment, but they advised me several months ago that they were planning to increase everyone's APR to 24.99% unless you agreed to have your account closed at the end of your card expiration date. My card is set to expire by the end of the month, so I'm guessing that's why they've decided to max out my credit limit. It would have been more *****nt of them to notify me in writing rather than leaving a sketchy voicemail message on my cell phone.

They left me a message with aPIN number to provide.
Same here, called back and they had reduced my credit limit, due to delinquent from this account or another account... ***? I have $0 balance on this account is always up to date with all my other ones... ridiculous excuse. ****ibank indeed.
help
They call twice some days and never leave a message. If it is "Citibank" as other comments suggest it is not good business ethics.
yes. its ****IBANK, i have a ****icard for 22 Years paying on time to keep my exelent credit standing , now they call to reduce my credit on half. i dont even own any money to ****icard because i always paid in full every bills/ it may be a reason 'cause they never could get a penny on interest
Yep, same here... decreased limit. I also opted out of their new terms of service last month. I wonder if that's a coincidence. It's fine cause come January, I'm living as a hermit to get rid of all credit debt.
Got a call from this number and they left a message to call back with a pin. I called back and they told me that my credit line is decreased...
They left me a message with a PIN number to provide. I went online and confirmed that they had lowered my credit line. No need to call. Thank you ****ibank.
I've had 2 calls from this number today. I do not have a Citi account. I've ***g up both times. I don't know who they are trying to reach, but it can't be me.
They call and give a pin number that they say you must have when you return the call. They imply that it has so****ing to do with your account. I don't want to call them back because it is not a legitimate call.
called 2 times and asked if my name was same to press 1. then asked for verification to put in zip code. said they were calling from Citibank.
This call is a real call from citi telling you about c****es to your credit card. The call wants you to call back and they give you a PIN number to use. I didn't call back but I checked my account on line and the same day I got the call it also had a message on my account that they had lowered my credit limit in half. They had already upped the interest rate on the account. I was in the process of paying them off. Credit cards are in a hurry to c****e everything before the new law c****es. I have always paid the credit card on time and always more than what was due. They are *****ing the good credit people. Soon as I finish paying them off they won't be getting anymore of my money.
told me to call back re: a card i don't have anymore. glad i came to this site. i don't have time for automated **** like this.
I called the number on the back of my Citi Mastercard the Citibank representative verified that 800-503-1969 is in fact a department within Citibank. They even transferred me to them, and I didn't have to give them my account information, they pulled it up within the call transfer. The reason they are calling is to say that "there has been a c****e in account status." In my case it meant that they were lowering my credit line, which I think is pretty normal with all of the financial turmoil that's happening in the system.
The number returns to Citibank Card Services. You'll have to enter the "PIN Code" they left for you. The "additional verification" needed (in my case, anyway) was the ZIP code of the billing address. I never had to enter the account number or any other info. At the end of the call, the system recited the accurate account balance.I think they're using this system to avoid having to deal with ****ed-off customers, as they close or reduce credit lines. Almost every card I have has either been closed or reduced in the past six months, and I'm always current on my balances or have paid in full. Now the card companies are citing my increased debt-to-limit ratio, which they themselves have caused by closing or limiting my lines... crazy.I'm better off without the cards anyway... they'll all be paid off soon and I won't have to deal with them a***n.
They are claiming to be Citibank and want me to call them to give them personal info.
Got a voicemail from this number, stating that it's Citi Cards and that I needed to call back with a six-digit code or my card would have difficulty being used. Very odd, because I'm up to date with payments and no payment is due. When I called, they couldn't find my records by name, address, or phone number, so they kept asking for my account number. I wouldn't give it to them - I've had this card for eight years! The whole thing just seemed strange.
Left message requesting a call back with PIN number. Message indicated that my visa would be interrupted. According to Citibank this was not a valid number of theirs.
Left message on answering ma****e to call 1-800-503-1969. I search engine checked the number and it took me to this site. Not certain but this sounds like phone phone phish to me.
told me they were with Citibank didn'i give any information to them not citibank!
Didn't call them back since I read what was on here. Said to call immediately or I'll experience difficulty with my card. Told me to call with a pin code #862227.***** no I won't.
calls and ****s up. no message.
This is a legitimate call from CITI to inform you of c****es in the terms of your CITI credit card agreement... CITI is in financial trouble and they are in the process of c****ing revolving credit accounts in their favor... just like Chase and the rest of them... consumer credit scores be ****ed...
I got an automated call that said that I had a "c****e to my status" on my CITI card and that I needed to call back 800-503-1969 to provide code "506560". This is NOT the number for my card's customer service. When I called back, it was an automated system a***n asking for the code above and indicated that "additional verification was needed". That's when I got su****ious and called CITI directly to see if this was legitimate or not.Per CITI, this is a legitimate attempt to reach their customer. The person I talked to didn't understand why it seemed like a phishing scam.
Left message stating it was CitiCards with a c****e to my account. Included "message ID#" for call back. When I called back, it still asked for more verification information, so I ***g up. Sounds like a total phishing scam.
Caller is a phishing scam...not CitiCards like the message says.
Same MO - call with personal code to enter, I tried to call them back to record the call. They ***g up If you call the REAL CitiBank number listed on the back of your credit card, they will take down the email or text message and follow up on it. They are well aware of this scam. The REAL CitiBank number is 800-967-8500
Called saying Citi bank and not a sales call leaving an this number to return a call with a personal number to then enter for a recorded message about the status of my card. SCAM
This is a scam. When they called, and had the last 4 digits of a card I do not use, I called the number on the back of the card and spoke a Citi representative. They were experiencing a lot of calls just like mine. They are not the generators of the call. BE VERY CAREFUL. The caller message said they wanted to talk to me about some c****es to my account. Always call the CC 800 number instead of pushing #9 to be connected with a representative.
Called and said they had an important message about the account to push a ****on. I ***g up. I don't respond to automated calls. I'm tired of all the calls we've been getting lately. I think the 800 numbers need to respect the no call rule also !!!!
got a call from this number and left no message
They keep calling and leave a strange message with confirmation number. Apparently from citibank.
Left message
This is Chiti Bank's number
Called with an automated message saying they were citibank, left a "personal message code" to enter on returning call to find out about a c****e in credit status. Citibank? Spam?
calling too many times..
