If it is a collection agency, they have to be polite and notify you that all info obtained will be used as information to collect a debt. They are not to be rude or all the above is considered HARRASSMENT. Use donotcalllist.gov and report them if necessary.
They have been calling quite frequently adn when I finally answered and said the person they were looking for was not available and asked if they would like to leave a message Mrs. Chaucer replied No, so I informed her that since she did not wish to leave a message she was not to call this number again, she quickly said Oh well i didn't know if you ahd a pen and paper available. First off, you said no, you didn't ask if I ahd one available you declined to leave a message. Then she asked if i would take the number adn I said no and hung up. She calls back immediately and begins to argue with me and when I asked for her manager, surprise surprise, there were none available. How convenient for them. Number is now blocked adn will not be answered again. She was rude and argumentative.
Reputedly...and I say this because they get some buzz on RipoffReport...they ara a collections agency: http://cms-collect.com/ However, the website looks suspect and they do not ACT like a collections agency, so they are generally considered a scam outfit from what I have researched. Do not answer, do not respond. My lawyer friend makes this suggestion: If ever contacted by a reputed collection agency or law firm, and you have answered the call or letter...immediately tell them you DISPUTE the entire affair and they must provide you with Proof and documentation.
They will try to claim they do not, but by law...this is any US consumer's right. If they deny it, ask to speak to a supervisor.
Keep receiving phonecalls from this #, they do not leave a message and the one time I answered and inquired about who keeps calling me at 8AM....they disconnected the call w/o a word spoken.
