Leave a CommentCalling relatives and leaving this number as a call back number. Really getting annoying.
I've received a few phone calls from this number with identical results. I do however believe it is a legit collection services company for defaulted student loans. I've received these calls in regards to my sister. She went belly up-lost eveything and skipped the country so-to-speak. I wish people who default on their finances would own up to them, because us other people are picking up their slack. This really isn't a complaint, I wanted to air my thoughts regarding this organization.
This is one possiblity:ACS services many different types of loan programs on behalf of the financial ins***utions and colleges/universities who own the loans. The two major loan programs are the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program and the Campus-Based Student Loan (CPS) Program. There is a disclaimer on their site that they will not contact / accept information from anyone under the age of 13.
A woman called my house this morning (09/17/2009.) The caller identified herself as being with "Education Services." The caller requested to speak to my husband (who was not at home). She said the call regarded a "reference" regarding my husband's best friend. The woman named by husband's friend by using the friend's nickname and last name. She left the number 800-***-1543. I asked the caller's name and she replied "Jessica."Interesting that my husband's friend is an elderly man who is suffering from ill health. Could this be a debt collection service?
My sister got a voice mail on her house phone from this number. They said they were calling from Educational Services and it was in regards to a reference for me. I have no idea why they called my sister when I'm not even going to school, let alone put her down as a reference for anything.
So this morning someone from this number calls my parents' house. They ask for my best friend. My best friend has never lived at my parents' house, which my parents told them. I haven't even lived at my parents' house in over 5 years. They asked my parents if they knew my best friend. My mom said yes. So they asked for her phone number, which my parents don't have, and told her so. My mom asked why they were calling and how they got this number to reach my friend. They wouldn't tell her why they were calling or where from but said that this phone number was listed as a reference number for my best friend. They asked if they could leave a message for my best friend. My mom told her that they never see or speak to my friend, which is true. The woman still gave my mom her 800 number, 800-***-1543, and told my mom that if she ever runs into my friend to pass the number along. My mom immediately called me and told me the story. I immediately called my friend and told her the story. My friend has no idea why anyone would call my parents house or what it is about. It's all really really weird and sketchy. I told my mom that if they call back to a***n tell them that my friend does not live there and that they don't know how to reach her and to please stop calling.
called my parents house asking for my best friend. my parents told them that she doesn't live there and never has. they asked if they knew her and they said yes so they asked for a phone number which of course my parents don't have so they left this phone number for my best friend to call back in case my parents ever see her. it was really weird and they wouldn't say where they were calling from. i told my friend about it and she has no idea why they would call my parents.
Person (named Al) called and said they wanted to update their student records and wanted to know the number for a friend of mine. They requested we have my friend call them. After some sear****g on the number it appears to be bogus so I round filed the request.
Someone called my step-mother claiming to be from "Educational Services" and calling regarding a "college application" I had supposedly filed. They said that I had not provided a home telephone number for them to contact me at.Weird.
Caller left vm on cell phone--was trying to found out info on a dead person.
