Recieved repeated recordings to call an 800 number. When I did they said that I had an outstanding debt of $986 from SBC in 1998 at an address that I have never lived at. I didn't even live in this state in 1998! I did a search for the address they gave me and it doesn't exist! This debt isn't even on my credit, which I just recently checked. The scary part is that they had the last four digits of my SS# but could not produce the rest when I asked. They said that they would send out a packet of information on fraud. We'll see.

Leaves a message every other day; says to call

Sales call despite the fact that I am on the do-not-call list.

Always a recorded message, once a day Monday through Friday. I check my credit report enough to know they have the wrong number. When I call them back using the number in the message I just get music.

A recording was left on my ma****e and did not say what it was about. We are on the "do not call list" and I want these calls to stop.

This phone number was displayed on caller id. Listed underneath UNAVAILABLE. The caller said this is not a sales call. The 1-800 number was repeated. I do not know of this agency. My number has been on the DO NOT CALL LIST for over a year. My phone number is unlisted. After looking down this page of complaints, I would say that this agency is a nuisance and needs to be stopped.

I called and interrogated the agent and she asked for Jose. I told her twice that we do not know anybody with that name. She said we would be taken off their call list.

Did not call back, as my number is on do not call registry...I filed a complaint through that website.

They called saying they were collecting on a debt from back 2004 for Verizon. I called Verizon and they have not heard of this collection agency and this is not an agency that they use. The bill they are claiming to be collecting on was paid back in 2004 by my late husband but since he has passed, I have not record of the receipt or anything.

Followed up and spoke with Collections Rep and Manager. They were trying to reach someone who never had this number. Said they would remove my number from their records and not call back.

Called cell phone with pre-recorded message to contact them. Number is on do not call list and it is a cell phone. Filed complaint with Donotcall.gov also.

They call on my CELL phone, which uses up minutes! I've also filed a complaint with donotcall.gov were my cell phone number is registered.

Im getting this number calling me 10 times a day with the same number or the 888 number. Im tired of it. I had try to block it then last week I had this number calling on my daughter cell phone. How can I do to stop this annoying number?

I've received 9 calls from them s****ing on March 26th. The 800 number (seven calls) didn't leave a message. The 888 number was a British woman telling me to call back. I called the 888 number and got music and quickly ***g up. I called the 800 number and was put on automatic hold, after hitting "1" for English, so I ***g up. A few minutes later I was called by

I have no debts to be collected. I checked my report after getting this call 5 times. If they will not tell me why they are calling me before I give them any information. Then they have no business calling me. On my cell phone no less. These companies need to be stopped!

They call me at least once a day and leave messages sometimes its just annoying.

They have called me every day, twice a day, for two weeks. I'm tired of it.

This agency keeps calling our business phone and leaving an automted message to call them back. We have tried to block them, tried to make contact with a "real person" and are on a no call list for unsolicited calls. Very bothersome. If a no call list does not remove your number what good is it? Remember folk's, no legit company should be asking you personal information over the phone like your SS number or bank account numbers. NEVER GIVE THESE TO ANYONE. Report them immediatly!

Automated message identifies itself as American Agency with an "important call" and to please call back. This call is received *every* business day from 9-11AM, some with a voicemail some with just a missed call to my cellphone. I once called back from a landline, only to be put on hold for several minutes, ended up ****ing up the phone.

I get a call from this number on a daily basis. Each time the recording says I should call back to this number.

I have received calls from this number repeatedly for the last 3 weeks. When I call them back, I am left on hold for more than 4 minutes, so I have ***g up. Finally, today, someone answered. The woman insisted it was not harassment, and stated that they were looking for a woman named Wanda who had this number in June of 2001 (which she only told me when I told her I had this number since 2001). I am on the cell phone do-not-call list. When I told her I was going to file a complaint, she said that the do-not-call list does not apply to them. She also said it was my own fault for not calling in sooner to have my number removed.

I was really angry how hard it was to get information from these people. I asked them how I can identify them as a legitimate business and they said there is no way or they didn't know. I am sure that is a lie. The Attorney Generals Office of California is 916 445 9555 and tell them you want to find out the Licence Information for American Agency in Torrence CA their PO Box is 2829. Hope that is enough information for anyone else.

Called and left a message with no information on why they called. Said in the message that it is not a sales call.

Called multiple times on cell phone and finally called back. Appears they are a collection agency possibly based in San Diego. They ask for your phone number which I figured I would regret giving them, however wanted to get the annoying calls stopped. They had an incorrect phone number and said they would remove (see if they do). The guy they were looking for was in jail (simple Google search told me that - they couldn't do that?)

They called me like 3 or 4 times and just play a recorded message saying to call American Agency. I called them back and demanded they tell me what government agency I can call to file a complaint. Long story short they said they are a COLLECTIONS AGENCY. Their Address is PO Box 2829 Torrance California 90509. The Managers name was Kathy Graves. They wanted personal information from me and I said: "How do I know you are legit" and they gave me no info on how to double check their claims.

This service is another scam. You put in a number. Then they say you can trace reverse number. 3 of 4 did not work. The one they said they have on file, they want $39.95 for the information. Ignore this ****** website.

This number has been calling my cell phone everyday for the last week and a half, if not twice a day. I answered once and it was a generic automated message saying please call us. I wish they would leave me alone.

Got a call on my cell asking me to call them back.....at the SAME number they had just called me from.  So why just not talk?  Anyways, called them & they gave some bogus name of person they were looking for.  I have had this cell for almost 4 years.  Said my number would be removed in 48 hours.  It better be.....costing me precious minutes.

We talked with an agent who would only tell us they were a California Corporation, and thats all they would say, they kept saying they were trying to get a hold of a Bike Shop, and they are working for a client. We mentioned the complaints in regards what we have found on the website, and we were told "sorry we can't help with complaints" and we were ***g up on.

I have received several calls from this company/individual.  I haven't figured out the scam yet!  If they can find you/us -- then one of us/you should be smart enough to find them?  Do ya think?  Is it time to reverse the problem? and not just keep spinnin our wheels complainin?  Who will be next?  What number will they use then?

Collection agency, looking for someone else. Just need to call from a land line, give them your cell phone number. They will tell you who they are looking for and you can tell them, no one here by that name. They will then tell you, sorry we will remove the number and that c****e will go into affect in 48 hours.

i called them back from my work phone, about 5 times. finally talked to a person..they asked me for my cell phone number. I told them "you called me, here is my name". The woman said "it's an automated ma****e, we don't know your name". I asked them what all this was about, and she asked me for my cell number a***n...I told her i was not going to give any information but my name. She said no, and so did I. She threatened, "The calls won't stop until you give us your phone number"....I told her they can call until they are blue in the face but they aren't getting any information from me until I get some info from them. Then my co-worker s****ed to laugh and I ***g up....I will submit the above complaint later.

More info - I called back, spoke to a supervisor, and found out that the person they are looking for had my cell phone number EIGHT YEARS AGO (I've had the number for about seven years now). It took a lot of being rude and impatient to get even that much information out of them. My advice - ask for a supervisor, and badger them until they agree to remove the number from their files.

I got a call on my cell phone (a COMPANY cell phone) that just said to call them back at 800-521-5165, "this is not a sales call", and they had "important information" for me. I called back, and twice was put on hold. The third time I finally talked to a person who said they were looking for someone - someone whose name I had never heard before. She would not tell me where they got my cell number. She did say they would remove it from their file (although we'll see if that actually happens). The name of the company is "American Agencies", they are indeed a collection agency, www.americanagencies.com.

Call my cell every morning at the same time!

The caller is a collection agency called "American Agencies" (www.americanagencies.com).  When their automated system calls, it doesn't even link you up with a live person, it just tells you to call their number back (which is just infuriating).  They called my cell number (actually a company cell phone!) because EIGHT YEARS AGO it belonged to someone they are trying to collect from.  I had to call back three times, ask for a supervisor, and be very rude before I got even that much information from them.  Supposedly they are removing my cell number from their system - we'll see if the calls stop.
