This is a***nst SEARS MAINTEN-ANCE SERVICE & SEARS in general. I purchased a dish-washer with a maintenance contract. The pump motor went out so we called Sears (1-800-4-REPAIR). The sent out a Tech (who didn't know what he was doing). He looked at the unit and said he would have to order a part. The part came in and he came back out. He said that the unit was built in and attached to a granite top(which he saw the day he came out)and couldn't install the pump unless the unit was remove from the counter. I called the company that originally installed the unit for Sears. He came out and in less that 5 minutes removed it from the counter. He said to call him when it was time to reinstall. The charge would be $100. I called Sears a***n and a different Tech came out. He said the removal wasn't necessary. After he installed the new pump, I call the service dept back. Bottom line, they wanted me to sign a waiver for damage or injury in my house. I checked with an attorney and he said that it had nothing to do with reimbur*****t for their mistake and it could affect my warranty. To be careful. They got rude, nasty and wouldn't pay me. I finally had to file a BBB Complaint. Some Sears Executive finally told the BBB that the release form wasn't necessary and to call them for reimbur*****t. I tried several times but no one would return my call. I recently got another number (708-233-4720)at Sears, and launched my complaint and problem. They a***n said that their Legal Dept said that I had to sign the "NOT NECESSARY" waiver to get paid. THIS IS NOT THE SEARS I GREW UP WITH NOR IS THERE ANYONE AT SEARS THAT CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REIMBUR*****T FOR THEIR ***** UP VERSUS A WAIVER FOR AN INJURY IN A HOUSE. This problem has gone on since Jan 2008 with no resolve. I am asking everyone to boycott SEARS and make sure they know you're buying elsewhere. Thank You for your support. It's time the public stopped patronizing businesses that ***** over the public.
