Leave a CommentAmerican express customer protection dept.. Called me to verify my iden***y.
Received voicemail (male) left on my cell phone from someone from "American Express" calling to offer a "special opportunity" as a "valued" American Express customer and that it wasn't a sales call. When the 800 number is called back, a recording says "Thank you for calling American Express. Please enter your account number now"I became immediately su****ious, and just hit "0", which prompted another recording "Our hours of operation are ******x, please call back so that we may****ist you."I'm pretty sure it's a SCAM!!
Received a call at home and at work to call this number. Home call was was an automated message that said it was AMEX with an important call that was neither a sales call or account problem call.Call at work left same # but was a live person named "Tom." When I contacted Tom he communicated an offer receive a significant credit in exc****e for a payoff. He asked for the first four letters of my mothers maiden name as security and informed me of my current balance from current statement and helped me find items on the statement. He said I could take advantage of the offer immediately by phone or wait till I received a confirmation letter which would be 7-10 days. I chose to wait for offer in writing and that is the stage I am in at this time.
American Express- is a special incentives team, when they called said no problems with a ccount. Is an optional program to get credits back for balance reductions.
received a call from a man name Tom and said he worked at American Express. He said it was not a sales call but it might be so****ing that I could take advantage of. He said to call him at: 8005554318. I called AMEX and apparently it is an AMEX #, and they were checking to see if my payment was submitted.
Caller left message that he was from AMEX. Wants to talk about our account. Not from Sales Department. Sounds like he wants to make a payment arrangement.
