Leave a Commentcharging small amount to credit card. Calling this number gets nothing but a recording. sounds like this is fraud!!
I had a charge of .10 on my credit card. When I called the 800 it stated Ring Central and the number was not activated. I suspect that they are making small charges to see which cards are disputed and which cards not, and then they will try larger amounts to those cards not disputed. Unfortunately, to persue the investigation I would have to close my cc account and be issued a new card. What a pain as this is a burden for most card users.
Saw a .13 charge on credit card - almost missed it as was unusually small amount buried within all other statement charges. BEWARE! Suspect it is ID theft in progress - they charge really small amount to be missed by victim yet too small for credit issuer to raise flag. CONTACT YOUR BANK ASAP TO REPORT FRAUD AND CALL ALL 3 CREDIT BUREAUS RIGHT AFTERWARD TO PUT FRAUD ALERT ON YOUR FILE!
After I found this same type of charge (dated Oct. 1, 2008 by IPS for $.13), I did a search by the phone number that was****ociated and found many other posts (on 800notes, whocallsme, crochetandy, etc). My bank advised me to close the Visa check card that was charged and they would complete an investigation. If the card is not closed, the scammers can come back and make a withdrawal for a larger amount (since they *****d it and found it to be active). Posts told of people contacting the FTC and FBI.
Oct. 2 for $.13 by IPS 800-590-6984. Checked "800notes com" on today's date...13 other people's debit/credit cards across the country have been charged anywhere from $.09 to $.17 on Oct. 1st or 2nd by the same 'company.' I have closed that card and applied for new number as this type of charge is done to find out if it is an actual account and then a larger withdrawal is made on a later date. ****close your account and report the charge/theft.
Charge of .16 on credit card. Bank indicated possible fraud, cancelled card. called the phone number, received following message "Ring Central, the number you are calling has not yet been activated".
I also had a charge for .07 on my debit card. I called BOA and they canceled my card, re-issued a new one. I also filed a claim for the .07. I told there fraud dept to check the web and see the number of times this number has been cited in ref to bogus charges.
charge of $0.08 on my credit card - my bank said if I am not disputing the charge there is nothing I can do but watch my account and see if they try to make additional charges - I have no idea who this is - I also called the phone number and the recording says the number is not yet activated as of 10/15/08
there was a charge to my bank account of $.15 with this number next to it, when I called the number it says "Ring Central, the number you are calling has not yet been activated".
Bogus charge to my checkings account for 16 cents by IPS 800-590-6984 on October 2. I will be getting a new card #.
Credited my Barclaycard $0.07 on 01 Oct 08 - why? Seems fishy, will query this with credit card company
Charge of 8 cents on debit card.
$.16 charge on debit card. Tried calling and got a recording that the number had not been activated.
This phone number appeared in conjunction with a $.14 debit from my bank account on 9.30.2008. I tried calling the number and got a recording that the number has not been activiated. This may be a scam to "hit" bank accounts with a small amount of money, then come back for a large amount. Beware!
Charge of 8 cents appeared on my credit card
This phone number showed up on my bank statement with a charge of 0.11. I have no clue who or what this is and how they were able to charge my account. When you call the number it says it has not been activated yet.
I have a charge for 0.11 on my debit card dated Oct. 1st from this number. I have no clue what it is. I called my bank and the rep. called the number and it says the number hasn't been connected yet. I called to dispute the claim and that rep said their database shows it is "Advertising" and tried to question me regarding calling them even after I explained everything to her.
Showed up on my banking account for 16 cents
