Leave a Commentyeah me too a victim of this 800-608-0575. What the*****! a call of a minute charged m 39.92. whom you can trust now a days. I made me felt so ******. ****, I fell like kicking some a** of this company responsible of doing such criminal act.
I got charged $32 for making a call to a paris hostel from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris - not even an international phone call. I searched online and found this and a lot of other complaints about the 800-608-0575 number. The one thing I realized is that they go under multiple different names - or they c****e the names when someone is onto them. There seems to be a class action a***nst them too but not sure how that would work out. I just wrote to the "Contact Us" page for the Charles de Gaulle airport complaining about the company and asking them to now allow use their facility for this scam to take place. I am wondering if complaining to the airports, hotels, and other places where you faced this scam would help make this company go out of business more than complaining to better business bureaus. Hotels especially may get scared that they will lose business because of this and take action a***nst the company. Just a thought.
Sigh. wish I knew ahead of time, but alas I got ripped off as well. Made a 3 or 4 minute call from Brisbane airport to a local number and got charged $14. I guess I should count myself as lucky after reading how much others were charged. Go to bank ma****e and get a cash advance from your credit card if you're desperate. It will probably be cheaper than what you get charged using your card at the payphone.
This is such a rip off my husband is in the military and was flying over sea's and made a phone call in ireland that was no longer than 5 minutes long to the u.s. to let me know that he was ok this company charged me $32.50 $35.90 $66.23 $19.34 and $3.54 this i a huge rip off don't ever swip your debit card at a pay phone i called the company and the guy said i was racist b/c i asked to speak to someone that spoke english correctly. they offered a $26 credit to my account and ***g up
yep, add me to the bunch!i called the US from France and got charged 51 dolars for a 3 minute call.Than i made two more calls....62 dollars more..i'm crying :(
I experienced the same thing ($150 for 2 short calls) - after looking around the internet and calling my credit card company, this is apparently a common occurrence. I found this website and it seems like a formal place where a complaint can be filed (ripoff.com)- otherwise try to make your credit card company realize that they must do so****ing about this, especially if they're aware of this problem. It's just as wrong to watch your customers get robbed when you know it's happening. Remember, dial 0 on the payphone to find out the rates before calling so you know what you're getting yourself into - I learned this a few days too late.****s to be cheaped out like this, but we all learned so****ing!
I "had" to use this # to dial the states from the Carribean. Never were we told of a minimum charge or how it would cost us up to $60 or more for even a 1 minute call! This is BBG Communications FYI - DO NOT USE this ripoff company/number to call anyone! Get a phone card if your cell won't work!!
I made a local call in Italy at the airport, a called to a taxi cab. Use my credit card and this company charged me 50 dollars.
Made a call from Belgium to india, for < 1 min, and got charged $50!
If you've been overcharged and this number comes through on your bank statement,DON'T CALL THE NUMBER AND GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO, and CHECK NOW TO SEE IF THEY ARE USING YOUR CREDIT CARD #I was overcharged, and although I did not call them, I later found that my credit card had been cloned. I am in the process of getting back the $3,000 they took in a matter of 3 days...PLEASE BE CAREFUL, call your bank/credit card carrier, and make sure that they don't clone your card like they did mine...
Same thing here. Got charged for a 5 min call from London to Toronto. 45 USD later...so****ing's going to happen.
My phone call was made from Duesseldorf Airport in Germany to the Delta International # lasting about 5 minutes (which they say was 24 minutes) and cost me $66. When I called International Satellite Communications (800-608-0575), they said the rate was supposed to be $5.99 a minute along with a connection fee of $14.00. That is just criminal. They offered an adjustment of $19.00 which I rejected. It's not about the money - it's about fraud. So far I have filed a complaint with the FCC along with the Visa Business conduct office (888-289-9322) which they are forwarding to the proper authorities.Try not to take the money and file a complaint if this has happened to you. This company may also have some affiliation with BBG communications since this is what originally appeared on my credit card bill.
I just got the following email response from these ppl, after they charged me USD 60 for a 2 minute call to Ca***a from the baggage claim area at Frankfurt airport (I had complained to the airport):"I am the person in charge of customer service for the company providing the telephone service available at the Fraport Airport. I have just received your inquiry about billing information from our company."You must take into consideration that these were operator****isted calls, which are connected by a platform service and billed through a credit card. As such, it is inherently more expensive than other forms of payment."These variables always add a significant increase to the price of any call, regardless of the country that the call is originated from. It is worth noting that prior to the connection of the call, rate information is always available upon your request."Nevertheless, it is our policy to satisfy customers in any way possible. As a onetime courtesy, the charges that appear on your bill will be credited in the amount of $47.41 USD and it will appear on your statement within 1-2 billing cycles."I would greatly appreciate confirmation of the receipt of my e-mail."If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me."Kind Regards"
This happened to my husband last month- he called a friend in Tucson to update him about his flying status. The bill on our credit card and listed as "Faircall" was almost $50.00- they talked for less than a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How does this happen?
I had 7 phone charges a***nst my cc in the past month.
As all above, I too had a nice bill waiting. 2 calls from Mexico to Ca***a, one lasting 5 minutes, cost of $56.58, and a second lasting 10 minutes, cost of $90.25. Thing is, this number was on the phones in our hotel room, listed as a direct call to Ca***a or the USA. So, I called the 800 number to ask about the huge bill, and the operator told me that "rates" differ depending on time of day. As low as $3.99 / minute, and up to $7.99 / minute. The operator asked if I had talked to a live operator, I replied "no" as I did not, and he mentioned that he will look into it. After a few minutes on hold, he came back and gave me a "one time" credit of $73.42, which will be great if I get it.So if you have these huge charges, call the number and see what they can do for you.
14 minutes call from Dominican Republic to Ca***a = 83,81USD$. After reading the posts here, I called the number showing on my credit card bill. This number points directly to customer service. They ask me my credit card number and from there, they were able to tell me all the call details (number called, duration, origin, etc..). So, international calls are 3,99/minutes + Admin fees.14 minutes @ 3,99$ = 55,86$83.81 - 55.86 = 27.95$ So, the transaction fee was 27,95USD$ !!!!The operator put me on hold and came back with a credit of 33,52$. It is "suppose" to be processed within 2 weeks... We also got our card cloned during this vacation (Visa called us very soon after this transaction). We used our card 2 times. Once for a day trip (paid at the hotel) and once for this call. So, I think they are also selling cards number on the internet. Do not trust this company. C****e your credit card numbers after using this service.
I made a local call at Beijing airport in 1 or 2 mins. had been charged $15.96.usually, 30 ****ese cent.
Same thing. Made a call from the Denver Airport to San Francisco. The first time I was connected to a wrong number. The call lasted 30 seconds with a charge of 16 dollars. The second time the call was routed correctly, lasted about 1 minute with a price tag of 30 dollars. This is just ridiculous. Can't really understand how they are allowed to do business.
I made a telephone call from the Sapphire Beach Resort and Club in St. Martin (Dutch side). When I dialed from the room the recorded message said it was $4.00 a minute. I got charged $41.91. I called the credit card company (Bank of America) they would not help me. I call the 800-608-0575 Satelite Company and they offered to give me a credit for $16.76 and my Bank said "take it". I called the resort and they would not affer any****istance to let me hear the message a***n. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. WE ARE BEING RIPPED OFF AND NO ONE WILL HELP US. The Satelite Customer Service is located in California - you would think someone would help us stop this unethical business practise. THE RATES WERE NOT PUBLISHED! How do we we get proof to dispute this charge? Why doesn't Bank of America stop accepting these charges from this merchant. They are unethical.
I made a call to india from brussels airport and they charged me $49.38 three times~~! and when i called this 1800 number....that guy said that they will give back $39...when i said that why they charged me thrice, he ***g up the phonw...
$51.29 to leave a 30 second message on my girlfriends cell phone, 113.54 for about a 10 minute conversation the next day.
The hotel I was staying in Venice, Italy told me that the only way to call to the US was to use this number. They charged me 41 $ for a 1 minute call. 3 times.then 140 dollars for 5 minutes.
This is a company that calls itself international satellite communications and says its based in LA California. It operates phone boots at Detroit Airport and charges 22$ for a 2-3 min. phone call to Detroit. Given that it's an international airport, it preys on people who don't speak English well. This company would not exist if it wasn't for credit card companies (the only way you can use the service) aiding and abiding. So I called the Visa ethics hotline 18882899322 to complain. I also contacted the Detroit Airport to ask them to remove those booths.
Igot a call and ***ody there. I was charged $11.27 for that call to Me. This # is a company that practises fraud. I will Be contacting the Oregon State Attorney General.
On October 28th, 2008, I called from Prague Airport to Beroun, small city 10 miles from Prague. My family lives there. Both cities are located in the Czech Republic. I called my wife to let her know I am all right. The call lasted 20 minutes. On November 6th, 2008, my credit card was charged twice - $92 and $42. The statement was funny: "Call From The Czech Republic". Finally, I paid $92 + $42 = $134 for twenty-minute local call....:-) I am trying to get my money back but I am very sceptical. The bank statement shows number 800-608-0575. I called this number and the guy named Tom denied talk to me about this incredibly high price and did not comment two charges for one call. He said that the name of company is International Credit Card Calls but they apparently c****e names. It si probably typical ripoff company. Check this complaint board:http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-608-0575Finally, never use your credit card for phone calls from phone booths at Prague Airport.Jan
Same as everyone... I made 2 calls - one did not answer and the other lasted 5 minutes and was charged 110$!!I am filing a complaint.
Yes i made one phone call and ***oy picked up and it charged me 48$, my visa bill was 300$ , and my friends was 800! Did anyone figure out how to get there money back>??
the same story for me. i made 2 phone calls from Beijing Airport to my home town which normally only costs around 5 cents each. But they charged me around $80 totally!! It is so so ridiculous. I called them back and get $30 refund. i will file a complaint to FCC.
Everyone, please join me and file a complaint a***nst them. You can file an online complaint to the FCC.FCC, http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumers.htmlClick on File A Complaint. Then choose the appropriate complaint type. It really is a number of things, first is false advertising. Then there is fraudulent billing. Choose the options you feel fit best. Most importantly, provide them with the name of the company and the 800 number on your card.Company Name: International Satellite CommunicationsPhone Number: 800.608.0575If they get enough complaints, hopefully so****ing will happen. We may not get our money back, but hopefully the FCC will put them out of business.
Yeah .. 5 calls .. $200. Use caution.
I called Switzerland from France for a minute call, and I got charged $32.54... I'll be fighting my credit card company to get reimbursed!
I used a payphone to make a call in my local area - it cost me $15.59! Same thing, no information about rates. URRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
Same story as the people above, I made 4 calls from withing Bulgaria to a Bulg***** phone # they were all under 3 minutes each to a local number.I got charged 137 $!!!The Name of the company is International Satellite Communications
I have the similar situation - only 1 call -less then 1 minute from Italy to New-York cost me $41.91!
I called to New-York from Milan and this call cost me $41.91! And also no information about rates!
Similar to the guy above....I called from London/Heathrow to the U.S. and had to call three times before I got through. And I then got charged three times on my credit card bill! This seems to be a scam of a company called International Satellite Communications. They are supposed to be located in Los Angeles, California according to the guy I reached when I called 800-608-0575.I am going to lodge a complaint with the Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles Better Business Bureau. This is ridiculous.
i made 2 seperate calls from frankfurt airport in germany to the US and to France and was charged 3 seperate times in the amount of $87, $55, and $46!!!!!! what the f***? i am infuriated! i will try to call them and get a refund as others have done...i can't believe i was charged almost $200 for making 2 five-minute calls.
How can I file a complaint for this number???? I called a US number in Florence while my friend was in Florence for a 30 second call and this company charged my avvount 47 dollars!!! I am infuriated for being so terribly ripped off. And when I asked the operator for the rates, they didnt answer and just connected me to the call. They know what they are doing. Avoid using this number.
