Leave a CommentMessage on home answering ma****e, 7-15 at 12:50 pm. Stated "American Express and urgent you call 800-678-0738 before end of day". Checked the caller ID and it appears to be a cell phone number out of Chicago. Called AE at Cust Svc Number on invoice. He verified the 800 number IS an AE number and without asking, immediately transferred me to them, never asking what number called us. A girl at the 800 number said they needed to "update my account" and had some questions. Told her if she needed update, mail that request and didn't appreciate a threatening call for such non urgent nonsense. Said she would send it and "is there anything else she can help me with". I asked what number she called from. Said it was automated and she didn't know. She too did not ask what number called us. Same day, received 3 more calls from same caller ID.--- one at 5:***m; 6:15pm and 8:04 pm. Each waited through answering ma****e message and then ***g up without leaving a message.
om shanti bapdada masjar fes ok
This is a phishing scam and is NOT from American Express. Check their phone numbers on their (American Express) website and the back of your AMEX credit card and you will see that it is different. The prerecorded message is always the same: "THIS IS AMERICAN EXPRESS CALLING ABOUT A VERY IMPORTANT BUSINESS MATTER, YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER IS URGENTLY NEEDED BY THE END OF THE DAY, PLEASE CALL US AT 1-800-678-0738, AND PLEASE HAVE YOUR AMERICAN EXPRESS ACCOUNT AVAILABLE WHEN YOU CALL, WE CAN BE REACHED 24 HOURS A DAY, THANK YOU." Some of the phone numbers he/they call(s) from are the following:
Get a voice mail telling me to call 800-678-0738 from supposedly American Express on an urgent business matter. Told me I needed to call back before end of the day and to make sure I had my account number. I don't have an American Express account. I looked up American Express main number and contacted them. They looked for an account under my social security number and couldn't find anything. The person I talked to said they checked and it was a valid American Express phone number which doesn't agree with other reports. They did give me another number to call in the morning to validate if someone has opened an account using my phone number, address, etc.
Number one this is not a complaint. the number you recieve is the credit dept. call center for American Express 1-800-678-0738 we always advise if you are not sure of this number please us ethe number on the back of your card we strive for your security and it is for that reason we will give no account #'s over the phone till proper id is made if you are not sure olease feel free to ask for our rep id or last transactions or payments we can gladly verify them for you.
Calling and leaving messages that the call is important and to call back with your account number
A man said "Stand by for a message from American Express" A woman said "Message for David Mathis" Another male voice with an accent "This is an important message from American Express... blah blah blah.. Please have your amex number ready"
I got a message supposedly from American Express. DO NOT CALL BACK! From the AMEX website:• Never release your card number, card identification number, PIN, or password to an unknown party. (Note: American Express will not request any of this information if we are calling you - we may only request this information if you are calling us. Beware of parties contacting you and requesting this information). If you must call AMEX, use the # on the back of your card.
Call came in: This is American Express, it is very important that you call this number and have your credit card numer information ready when you call...8006780738
800-678-0738 american express call us give us your account number. Calls every day a few times/day. Mens voice.
Got a message on my work and cell number to call this number with my account info.
Called saying need immediate attention and to call back by the end of the day. Also be sure to your account number ready. Clearly scam! I mean s***!
Calls from a New Jersey Cell Phone, also now from Unknown Number so I cannot block it -- ask for your account number -- when you call in it sounds like the AMEX system, but it is not a valid AmEx number.
Had a message on my home VMX to call this number with my Amex Acct#.Didn't call, found this site first.
They said that they worked for AMEX.
Claims to be American Express. The person they are looking for does NOT live at this phone number (but does have an AmEx card). They say it is in regards to "a business matter." Sounds like a scam, but I am not sure. It might be some sort of collections division of AmEx. I have asked to have my number removed from their computer. Most recent call was received at 7:30pm on a Sunday!
Claimed to be American Express, wanted me to call back with my account number. They did not use my name, and they are NOT a valid AmEx number. It's a scam, and I am sick of them calling me every other day (including Sunday night!).
I received a call from that number today at work and at home. Both numbers called in from 718-564-3261 and said to call this 800 number. The guy knew the amount of the payment that I had made yes****ay. He said that he needed me to update my work information???? I told him that I wouldn't do that over the phone and I called AE through the number on their website. This is definitely a scam and the AE guy that I spoke to said that they're getting a lot of calls like this and they think that someone who works for them, or one of their direct affiliates, is selling information.
I received one today 12/23/08. I called the FBI and was told to call the FTC, which I will do tomorrow. Don't give out any info to anyone that calls you.
They claim to be American Express and need you to call them back at 1-800-678-0738 by the end of the day with your account number
call came from 718-564-3261 and said call american express by the end of the day for an important business matter at the 900-678-0738. Checked my account it was fine. This is a scam.
It's a recording claiming to be American Express. I called the real Amex number. This is a fraud. Do not enter your number.
They call from 718-564-9861 and say they are American Express. Called AMEX. They don't call from a 718 area code.
Just got a call from this number and a message was left stating for me to call back about an urgent message from American Express.
A call came through my cell phone showing the # 718 564-3261 which I did not recognize so I figured it was probably a salesman trying to sell me so****ing. A few seconds later there was a message stating: This is American Express calling about a very important business matter. Your attention to this matter is urgently needed by the end of the day. Please call us at 1 800 678-0738 & please have your American Express account # available when you call. We can be reached 24 hours a day. Thank you. I knew right away it was a scam since American Express would not of left a message like that. The thing that bothers me is, I do have an American Express card which was purchased through Costco and the only phone I have is a cell. How did they get my phone #? Did someone at Costco get a hold of my information?
This # is a scam, I called amx DIRCTLY BY USING their CUSTOMER credit card tel # to see if I had any problems, no problems. PLEASE DONT CALL THIS #.
I called amex they said it is one of there reps but it probably a solitation nothing important
Jo you call and make a payment if you beleive it is not a scam( if you call the number they will answer american express)only call the amex numer on the card (i have been scammed before like this be careful) they are so good at calling and sounding real. All they want is your info and your money. They also call from a NY cell phone number and say all the same stuff that number is 1-718-564-3261 they are a scam DO NOT FALL for it. They called me twice today and the second time we answereed and told them to stop call por I will report them tp the police yet she still was yelling Maam as I ***g up.
They ask to call them back and to have your American Express card handy.
Scratch the previous comment. Despite it sounding like a scam, it really IS AMEX!
Was also called today. Suspected a scam directly and have informed AMEX customer services.
American Express - calling a business phone line
Received the same message. Called AM EX..they never called me. Big scam
Have called me at work 3 times after telling them I am not allowed to accept private calls while on company time. They don't understand enough English to know they are breaking the law.
Got the same call, telling me they needed me to contact them by the end of the day, but called after 4pm.... so, I knew it was not legit. Amex is too big to NEED someone to contact them by the end of the day! The number they left on my cell phone voicemail was: 800-678-0738 and the caller ID number was: 954-308-5595
just got this same call. figured so****ing was wrong when they didnt specify who they were calling for. thank god for websites like this.SCAM
Same call at home. Said it was a very important business matter.I Googled the number and got this. Glad I checked
I got the same call at ho****e Caller ID showed 9543085595
Called AmEx on the # on the back of the CC & AmEx denies ever calling.
I have received several messages to call American Express at this number and others. Funny, because I don't have an AE account. I called the number and they first have an automated system to take your account number. Ultimately you can talk to a person, but they won't look up your account without your SS#. Hmmmmm......
Sounds like a scam. They ask for your card number repeatedly.
i also got this same voicemail message at work:"Called my office phone number claiming to be an American Express representative. Wanted me to call back with my credit card number."i figured it was a scam since they didn't use my name.
Called my office phone number claiming to be an American Express representative. Wanted me to call back with my credit card number.I called the American Express directly to check what phone numbers they have in their records. They do not have my office phone number. It's a scam.
