Leave a CommentI'm not default on my loans. Why are they calling me?
I had a defaulted student loan.. I co-signed for my daugher which is a parent plus loan. I had Delta call me and I have to say at first they were very aggressive and firm. some what ignorant. as was I. But they did work with me. I am disabled and my income is low. I filled out some paperwork with them and was given a much lower rate than originally offered. I paid for 11 months .. I was originally told 9 but it carried into 11 months. But my daughter is now paying the loan. It is out of default . there are no outragous interest rates.. and my credit has been restored. I think if you take the time to listen to the advantages the rehabilitaton program has to offer you will find out it is well worth it. In some cases you have to take the good with the bad. in order to see a difference. But its all in the at***ude.
Please define the work "hinky" ........................ ??
Yup .. Collection.. And you should be proud that you have become a professional at determining a bill collector.... You must get that alot. Please share your words of wisdom as to how we too can determine that its a bill collector on the other end of the phone. And explain to us why it is more important to you to avoid a debt call then it is to resolve what you owe... How your credit report looking lately chumly?
I also had no student debt, but they kept calling me as well. Their phone representatives were very rude when I tried to inform them that I have no debt -- apart from my home mortgage which has never had a late payment. I ended up writing to company president Michael Riordan. A David Riordan replied with a written apology. Info on the company is at their Web site www.delta-mgt.com.I would also suggest that you contact the *****chusetts Division of Banks if you continue to have a problem. This is the government organization that regulates Delta Management.
Once your loan goes into default for sometime direct loans, sallie mae etc. no longer has it it goes to a collection company .the best thing to do is call the Department of education if you are not satisfied with the payment options the collection agency is offering wanting more money than you can afford ...KEEP in MIND they are SUPPOSE to be there to help you get out of a situation not put you in a financial burden......dept of ed is able to put you on a payment plan, rehabilitation program, hardship, disability forms or even settle the account for less money than the collection agency would take.... they do knock off some of the interest and penalties... we all know that collection reps go for that BONUS money that means their asking for the most money that can possibly get that falls in the guidelines and that can be pretty steep depending on your income ..BELIEVE ME on that!!! for most cases you will still have to work with that collection agency and follow the payment arrangements you made with dept of Ed...The agencies that have a contract with dept of ed has to follow their federal laws as well...if you feel you are being harrased or threatned whether speaking with them directly or over your VM, home, work, family members and friends call and report them. They need to follow the FDCPA Law( Fair Debt Collections practice act.) If you do owe a student loan and it is not in default you need to always stay on top of it. if you DO OWE a student loan in default you need to take it serious it is a federal debt and the FEDS DONT PLAY when it comes to their money that is where the loan came from technically....COLLECTIONS AGENCY/DEPARTMENT OF ED CAN GARNISH YOUR WAGES .SSI , DISABILITY OFF SET TAXES..PUT LIENS ON PROPERTY, DID YOU KNOW THEY HAVE ACCESS TO CREDIT REPORTS. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO VERIFY YOUR WORK PAY AND HOURS ITS THE THEY ALSO CHARGE BETWEEN 150.00 AND UP EVERYTIME YOU ACCOUNT GETS SENT TO ANOTHER AGENCIES most agencies will remove the collection fees.....REMEMBER to always stay calm when talking to them remember your in default not them.

Delta called me asking for information on my sister. They said it was a federal matte rand could not tell me anything more, but I got the idea it was a debt collection agency. How they got my name & number I don't know, but she has not even lived in this country for over 20 years and has been out of school for over 30 and I have moved several times since then.. I asked if I was in any trouble, they said no, this was about my sister. I asked if I had to legally give them any information about her (as without any more information from them, I wasn't going to give out anything on my sister), they said no, so I then said I was not going to tell them anything and when they s****ed to be very persistent that I tell them so****ing, I ***g up. Hey folks, I'm not my sister...I never co-signed for anything with heer and I have no financial dealings with her. She has been living abroad for over 20 years...get off my back.
If you have ever run into a default situation the whole amount is due plus collection charges companies like Delta Management will charge. They try to steer all their clients into rehabilitation and charge you insane amounts with the promise of making 9 ontime monthly payments when you rehab with the promise of removing the default from your credit report. After nine months they usually will ask you to complete the program over a***n because they can not find you a lender needed to complete the program because of the bad economy. The default status in this case will not be removed. I recommend those students contact direct loans programs to help get out of default. They might allow you to choose the programs available of your choice when you complete the paperwork. For any other student that has defaulted loans contact direct loans and ask about the income contingent program that collection agencies like Delta Management will not tell you about when they talk to you. You can consolidate defaulted student loans under this program and the terms will be based on your income using a formula instead of outragious payments collection agencies want. You have options available and I wish all defaulted loan borrowers good luck on their loans.
I've never had a student loan in my life and these people are calling me. This is rediculous.
I get messages that just states a ladies name, Melissa ****ingham, and she sounds mad at me but she doesn't say anything but that I need to call her. I am too busy to play games so I just wish I knew why she was calling.
Delta Management is a debt collection agency for Federal Guaranteed student loans. Most post will take a slightly different, yet honest slant. My student loans were in deferment and expired. I was not notified despite informing all my creditor of my new address after a move to another state.Per Federal Law, a loan goes into default status after 10 months. They placed my loan in default after 6 months. My first "clue" it was in default status was when I then received a letter in the mail 1 week after they placed it as being in default. The regular payments were $160 a month, so at worst, I owed $1600 (over 10 month right)? Wrong, they added $8,000 in "fees" and collection cost (I guess they pay way more for LD than us regular folks). Anyway, I contacted them to make payment arrangements, I was told that my ONLY choice was to pay them $500 a month for 10 months before they would even CONSIDER removing the default status on the loans. After a default status is removed, you can refinance and possible get more forebearances. Anyway, I told them what makes them think I can pay $500 a month, when I obviously did not pay $160 a month, and for 10 months at that? They told me to take it or leave it.In the same call, they obviously looked at a copy of my credit file and told me "You are paying $** a month to your car note and $** to your mortgage, so you MUST pay us as well." This is the point where the conversation turned **** folks. They then told me the name of both by employers and my wife's employer and told me they if I did not give them bank account information and a payment TODAY, they would take steps to garnish my wages (legal) and my wife's (not legal)an put a lien on my home (not legal). They took my tax refund for the recent tax filing period of over $5,000 so they already had more than the $1,600 I was behind in. Guess what? I was told that since they "took" the money, it will eventually post to my account, but I do not get credit or consideration for making a payment. In other words, at that point I was still in arrears and even though they took the $5,000 my account was still accruing interest at a default rate of 12% despite the "payment" that brought me more than current.See, when you are 10 months late on a student loan, the full amount becomes due and payable. Wages are affected (garnishable)and any Federal Tax refunds are affected as well.Keep in mind that even when you ask any creditor to stop calling, do it in writing. Even then, if you really owe it (like a student loan) they will take the written request as proof you do not intend to pay.Solutions:1. Pay the debt, make payment arrangements.2. If you can't and you are married, the IRS has an Injured Spouse Relief Form. This will allow you and your spouse to get "part" of any tax refunds due to you.3. Enroll in a local Community College. Of course you will not qualify for new loans, but if the debtor is enrolled half-time (2 cl*****), you should qualify for an AUTOMATIC loan Forbearance. Delta Management did not tell me this was a possibility. Less than $200 to enroll in 2 cl***** locally and my employer reimbursed me.4.Last resort contact one of those "tax places" to help negotiate so****ing or file Chapter 13 for all debts and get an automatic forbearance.I did option 3, filed the Injured spouse claim and I am back on track.
This number calls me 5-6 times a day on my cell phone and now they've s****ed calling my sister (whom I don't live with.) I don't know how they got either number but they always identify themselves as Delta Mgmt. I'm actually ahead of my student loan payments so there's no way I'm in default. I really don't know who these people are, but they seem quite hinky. ;)
***....am i a criminal or so****ing?!!! He sounds so scary and creepy like i've done so****ing bad...get a real job your freak!
This company is constantly calling me more than once a day. Isnt this illegal?
These idiots called my son about my daughters student loan account. How they got his number is a mystery to us. Our daughter is up to date on her accounts and there should be no reason for them to call anyone other than her, I called them to see what they wanted and as she was on the road, when they asked for her SS#, so****ing they should have had, I told them that they were to never call my brother's number regarding this or any other matter. I made them mad and they ***g up.
This bozo's keep calling after I told them not to call me ever a***n. They are harrassing scam artists. They said that my loans were in default, which they are in forebearance, not default, and that they added on a $6K penalty fee. I told them where they could go and how to get there. They keep calling. Maybe I should make a personal visit down to their headquarters to straighten them out...
A man left a msg asking me to call this back this 800 number. They requested for a Robin McClure to return his call. When I called back and used the x 231 - the man stated he was trying to reach me for a reference for this robin mcclure. The stated I lived in a particular address, which I don't he was rather rude. Not sure what type of game/scam this is. He did id himself as Delta Managment, Tony Lorenzo.
800-688-6337 called and harassed my MOTHER My phone is unlisted but of course mother and I share same last name so they look the name upLeft x245 and a Jen. *I* called them and said under NO cir***stances should they call number they were calling I DO NOT live thereI will deal EXCLUSIVELY with orig creditor as is ALLOWED BY FEDERAL LAWFEW PEOPLE tell these s*** bags that! it usually stops those weaselsAsk for certified letter, AND letters PROVING signatures of agreement as well.

I had just received this phone call today and they said that they have a very important matter to discuss with me. They left the 1-800 number and then an ext. number so that I can call back. What is this place calling me? I had also received a thing in the mail saying that I needed to send them a check for over $1,000. I am already paying back my loans with a different company.
Same as above, called and left a message that "Its important I call ..Ext ?" My question, important to whom? Called from a different number and asked "what is this company", I was told if I gave them my phone number, the one which they called......... I said "I am asking a simple question...what is this company? are you a job aplication? are you a Trucking company?" Response was still "If you give me the phone number we called......." I ***g up. Yup, collection!
Called left a message to call back with a case number. Called from a different number! (617-660-3200). On the voice mail, left this 800 number to call with a case number. After some web research I found out that they're called Delta Management Services, based in Chelsea, *****chusetts. They are basically a collection agency who pride themselves with their craft of harassing people.
