Leave a CommentI got a call from these folks twice after signing up for free gifts and giveaways at Folk Life and the Fremont Fair. In each case, I appeared to be signing up for so****ing different--once for a cruise, and once for a free Target gift card. In each case they claimed I was one of just a few winners, and in each case there was a hefty minimum income requirement before you could get the "free gift" with its taxes and fees. This is not a prize, it is a promotion, and the marketing people behind it in my opinion are ethically questionable. I won't be signing up for any of these "Drawings" anymore. The notification call this time actually came from a private 253 area code, where the person instructed me to call the 1-800 number. These techniques have "scam" written all over them.

I got several calls from "Kathy" at this number offering a free vacation. I finally called back and was told that I could get a free vacation, plus a free dinner with a limo ride, plus a $500 gift certificate for online shopping, if I went to a 90 minute info session in Tukwila. The person I talked to on the phone said the company offering this was called "VI Passports". I Googled "VI Passports," and found another 800Notes page from a different 800 number, but it sounded like the same deal. Basically, it sounds like you don't have to buy into the timeshare to get the vacation and all the other stuff, BUT the vacation and the other stuff aren't really "free." You have to pay taxes and fees up front. I got talked into signing up for the seminar, but I probably won't go now that I know these things aren't really free. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
they say call this # and sell you a time share , or ?they got my # from a golf show in portland , or .
