THINK OF IT THIS WAY...WOULD YOU SIGN ANY KIND OF CONTRACT WITHOUT REALLY UNDERSTANDING IT? DIDN'T THINK SO...TELL YOUR GRANDPARENTS TOO!!! and if it makes a difference to anyone...I'm sorry...get me another job and I'll quit tomorrow!!!
they called saying they would help me lowering my rates and i agreed. what can i do i need help
I just received a call today from some guy who claimed he was calling from "an independent company working in conjunction with AT&T" which "will lower my phone bill for long distance rates". Being foolish, I listened to what his so-called long distance services had to offer and I said, "uh huh...okay...yes...oh i seee". After that, he tried getting me to go through that 6 step verification process where I had to say "YES" to 6 questions and I knew so****ing was just not right, so I quickly ***g up on him without going through that voice automated third party process. Am I safe?!?! I know this is a SCAM!
A Telemarketer called claiming to be AT&T (but obviously was not). She requested information and my permission to move to a lower rate. I currently have AT&T and I’m very pleased with the service. I told her she should not have to get my permission to lower my rate but if she wanted to leave her name and number I would check with my husband and get back to her. She said her name was Jane @ 1-800-716-3812 ext 3728. My husband looked into them - this company is a phony and tries to convince the people they call that they are AT&T. Beware...
these people have been calling me for the past 2 months until like 10 at night so today i decided to finally answer my phone and of course my dumb a** was like oh yeah sounds great until i googled this long distance america **** when i tried to call and cancel the 1800 number they gave me was out of service... go figure but at&t was nice enough to help me to put a block onto my long distance services so they won't be able to get into my account
got the same call and the guy claimed to be a third party verizon hired out. he said he can lower my bill by $10/month. i asked him how come verizon won't call me themselves and he said they cannot lower my bill that's why he called. i asked him what process is he going to do in order to lower my bill. he said he will transfer me and just say 'yes' to the other operator. at that point, that threw a red flag. i got this scam phone call from work before and the guy asked for my name and very simple questions that i say 'yes' to. in the recording, they claimed that i said yes to a phone service which cost my work $100. anyhow, if anybody calls that you don't know of, don't say 'yes'. just **** up!!
Long Distance America called me last week - I was skeptical but willing to save money. The operator was exceptionally nice and said that Qwest had hired them as a sub-contractor to save money for low use customers. I am NOT a low-use customer. I verified I could c****e back to my old Qwest plan if I wanted to and she****ured me I could. I did c****e but so****ing was just wrong about this. So I called Qwest and it is a HUGE scam. A lawsuit is actually pending. And I did some math, my LD bill - instead of going down 40% would actually have increased by 200%. Qwest has switched me back with no problem. If this happens to you - call your phone company IMMEDIATELY. Seems like the folks that work there know it is illegal but think they are doing good by saving you money. However in many cases - they are NOT and they LIE to get your business.
CAn somebody give me any ideas what should I do if I already accepted their offer? It's been about two month, nothing happened, but still, I'm concerned.
I just got a call from Long Distance America similar to other folks on this report. They almost got me because I accepted, but immediately did some online research and thankfully I found this site. So I explained the situation with my phone company and put a freeze on my long distance service. It was comical, yet expected that when I called to cancel this Long Distance America scam/**** service, they provided a confirmation number that sounded like it was pulled out of their a**. Moreover when I asked for a name, I was given Joe and was told that I didn't need his last name. I can't believe this so called company is still around (they must be operating as some subsidiary co.). If you're reading this post, whatever you do, DO NOT sign up for this ****. If you have already, call your phone company and put a freeze on your account, if it isn't too late.
A guy calls me and says that his comapny has an agreement w/at&t that is giving everyone a lower rate on my long distance and then proceeds to try to connect me to operator to confirm. Which is strange because we just signed off on a new contract at lowest rate w/at&t. Iasked for his name & number so I could call back. They really need to work on getting these organizations shut down.
I just recieved a call from my "phone company" stating that they had made an agreement with ATT to lower my long distance rate. I told the lady that she cant just switch me and asked for her supervisor. This guy came on the phone and I told him his practices were illegal and his company, long distance america, was misrepresenting itself. He said this was just an offer to switch LD service. I told asked for his name and he said, "you want my name, my name is Good Bye" If anybody gets this call, ask to speak with Mr. Bye, he is a real charmer.
Same as everyone else. Rude telemarketer calling claiming to be Long Distance Services offering to lower our business rates with AT&T. Rude woman tried to verify my information and when I asked to be removed from their calling list, she asked me if I was an idiot for not wanting to save 45% in this economy! Told her no I am not an idiot, you are and so is the company you work for. Apparently today is the day for all the mental ******s to flood the office with telemarketing calls. And since I am a business I'm fair game for these *****s.

These ***ters called me. Claimed they were AT&T. They said that AT&T had just purchased a new long distance company. They said they were going to lower my rates. They tried to verify my address, but they got the city wrong. When I corrected her, she acted like she was*****ouncing it wrong. Then, they gave me some phony numbers that AT&T was going to lower for me. They, then, proceeded to ask if I was at least 18 to accept the c****e!! I said, "Why do I have to accept, if you are going to c****e it for me??" ... She ***g up. BI4CH!

Another telemarketer! This company has called my house 3 times already.
He said they are working with my phone company, knew my name & street address. He said he wanted to lower my long distance charges to about 6 cents, because of some new federal law, that the c****e in charge would appear on page 2 of my bill. He then said he would connect me to a third-party to verify that I wanted this done. She would ask me about 6 questions and I had to give "yes" or "no" answers. When she came on the line I made it a point not to answer in a verbal yes and asked her a question. At that time the original guy came on (who must have been listening in) and we s****ed the process a***n. The girl came on a***n and tried to make me say the word yes. I stammered anything but yes to her question and ***g up. Definitely a scam!!!!
They called at 10:15AM 07-18-2008. Announced themselves as "THE PHONE COMPANY." I asked them what phone company? the man said "Verizon". He said "We want to lower your long distance charges to .10 ten cents a minute" I said that is was already .06 six cents a minute. He said that he was from verizon over & over a***n. I asked him my address and he could not come up with it.
They called at 11:15AM 07-12-2008. Announced themselves as "THE PHONE COMPANY." I told them they were NOT my phone company. Place me on your DO NOT CALL LIST. The caller them said she was with PUBLISHER'S CLEARING HOUSE. I asked, if she was with PCH, why did she claim to be with THE PHONE COMPANY. A male responded, "I am the supervisor. What seems to be the problem?" I told him so far his company has claimed she was THE PHONE COMPANY and PCH. Was she lying the first time or BOTH TIMES? He said she might have said she was with PCH to get my attention. We are THE PHONE COMPANY, Long Distance America. -Is this Mr. Meese? -Are you with AT&T???" I told the caller they "did LIE BOTH TIMES. My PHONE COMPANY has my records and knows who I am. Place me on your DO NOT CALL LIST. Their reply was "We will. But it takes our computer 30 days to delete you. I replied, You call me a***n and you will be paying Federal fines and treble damages!" {CLICK...}
IT's a scam. They try to get you to answer yes to questions so they can use it as proof that you answered yes to have them handle your long distance. In the normal process of willingly transfereing your long distance, a third party gets on the phone and asks several question that you must answer yes to, to prove that you are willingly giving permission to have your long distance switched to this other company. In this fraud instance "The Phone Company" also know as "Long Distance Services" tricks you into say yes several times then lays over your yes to the "Real" question as their proof that you wanted them to switch your long distance service to them.Another ****od is that you plainly think Verizon is lowering your long distance so you willingly say yes.
can you tell me who this is?
asked "is this a business?" when I answered with the name of my business. "Oh I'm sorry we'll take you off the list." That's fine...
I received a call from these people. They wanted to lower my long distance per minute charge from what I was paying now from Qwest. Problem is, we don't use Qwest for our phone service. This is clearly a rip-off.
Some guy called me and said that they are lowering my rate. He gave me a speal about lowering my long distance calls from 10 cents to 6.9 cents a minute. He then told me that they have to verify my information by transferring me to a "data operator" of which was not en***led to answer my questions so he asked me if I had any. I said "No." He then gave me a s***ch about all the questions they are going to ask me and that I should answer yes to every one of them because if not they are going to drop the line. After I agreed he seemed to have transferred me because the traditional waiting music began. Apparently, he couldn't here me because after a few moments of that he asked me multiple times if I was still on the line, of which I plainly answered Yes, I'm here, I can hear you, I'm still on the line. He continued to ask me this as if he couldn't here me and then he ***g up. If that wasn't a su****ious call, I don't know what is.
Called about lowering my qwest long distance rate, gave me the wrong amounts i'm paying now, tried verifying personal data. Told him to give me the offer in writing...he ***g up on me.
Called saying they wanted to speak to me about my Verizon account. I ***g up on them.
