Don’t even have Verizon

Thank you to those who posted warnings on Been Verified. I, too, received a voice mail instructing me to call 1-800-754-0961 and enter a 10 digit reference number. This "reference number" was my husband's cell phone number. The origin of this call was 804-588-3159, which is a ******ia area code. When I ran the 804 phone number through Been Verified, the name****ociated with it was Laura Montique. I have blocked the 804 phone number.

Same here....they called twice from a local number but asked me to call back (800) 754-0961, with a reference number for a phone number cancelled years ago. I'm no longer with Verizon - but today I also received a mailed bill from "Verizon", with their logo for 3 months of past due fees. And today as well I also received an email from address [email protected] a fake email about the same issue. I switched my plan to another provider 3 months ago. Unnerving the spam is coming phone, email and snail mail. In the comments this has been going on since 2008?

Says to call immediately bc my service is in danger of being disrupted. They are calling my telephone number, but our listing my sons number as the reference number. When I called the number back and enter my number or the number which they say is my 10 digit reference number which also happens to be my sons cell phone number, it says that number cannot be located. The call originated from (804)588-3159 but leaves (800)754-0961 as a call back number. Neither me nor my son have had Verizon iaa our phone carrier in about four years. This Hass to be a scam. I just don’t understand what they’re scam is if you call the number back and it says that your number can’t be found. But how in the world is this going on now in 2023 and has been going on according to the comments since 2008?

Sounds like an automated call. does not identify who the caller is. Been Verified named Laura Montique as the****ential owner. This is the 2nd time they have called. Neither time offered an identification but noted my own phone number as the reference number. I'm blocking it.

Got a call from 248-260-2215, Robo call that sounds like an automated call from Verizon. Say it's an urgent issue from Verizon Financial and to call 1-800-754-0961. Did a search on 248-260-2215 and it comes up as Verizon in Detroit. 800-754-0961 comes up as Laura Montique, in Florida. Must be a hack that is still going on in May 2023. I'm blocking the number.

They have called 4 times with in 10 minutes and it comes up Fairview Hlth System

They didn’t even come close to having my last name correct. I was told to call this number and use my phone number as the reference number.

They s**** you with decent internet connection s***d for the first few weeks or month, then as slow as AT&T's connection, what a ***mer and now close to a $100/ mo. For basic service 450 min. Not a good deal, I am swit****g over to simple mobile $40. A month same thing as Verizon's.

I just received a call from this number, I didn't answer and they left no message. This is obviously not legitimate, otherwise the number would be identified and a message would be left. I never answer numbers that I don't know.

THIS IS A SCAM. Just spoke with Verizon (using 611 number) -- and this is NOT a verizon wireless number. Everyone needs to report this number to Verizon so they can address the FRAUD. Also Verizon can BLOCK this number so you do not recieve additional calls. THIS IS A SCAM!

From Buffalo, NYI've received 5 calls from these people today. It's the first they've tried getting a hold of me.I'm not the primary holder of a verzion account, although I am on a verzion account. I don't plan onpicking up the call as I don't recognize the number. I suggest those who receive a call fromthis number, Do Not Pick Up The Call.

I've been receiving calls from them for the past month, and once when I accidentally answered, it was an actual person on the line. I just ***g up and refuse to even bother with them anymore.

They call sometimes 2 or 3 times a day and never leave a message. Scam? Verizon has NEVER contacted me like this before and would leave a message if they did. Going to set to ignore.

They continue to call me everyday without leaving a message and just the other day they sent me a text asking for me to make payment via text. My gut instinct is if it really was Verizon they would leave a personal message on my phone or contact another number on the same account.

I just got a call from this number and I know for a fact I do not owe verizon money since I just paid my bill to them yes****ay (and it wasn't even overdue...nor did I have any over due calls or notices).  I have NO idea what this number is.  I picked up, and no one was there.

They keep calling me from this number, I don't pick up since I don't recognize the number.  They never leave a message but they call everyday two to three times.  Do not pick the phone up if you see this number!

2nd time called

Totally a scam. Called me today and claimed I owed a balance and that I needed to pay or our service would be terminated. I asked for a call back number and said that I was su****ious of these kinds of calls because my ***her-in-law had been the target of a phishing scam not more than a couple months back. I then asked for the number a***n, and she hesitated, said a***n that I was in danger service interruption, then finally gave it to me. 800-754-0961. Verizon knows how to reach me and they do it easily via mail or email or text when they need to. These people are crooks, and I can only guess that those who post claiming otherwise here are simply working for these scammers. If you have any doubts that you owe Verizon money, simply call them. Don't trust anyone who calls you to necessarily be who they claim to be.

11/18/09  Rec'd a call from 1-800-745-0961. Called at exactly 9:00am - no message. Just a **** up call.

They call multiple times a day, every day of the week, even late at night. I have to turn my phone off before I go to bed now. Every morning I have a voice mail with the message cut off and giving the 1-800-754-0961 number.This is obviously a scam. If it was legitimate they wouldn't hide behind "Unknown".If you call Verizon using the number given on your bill they will have no idea at all what you are talking about, thus proving the calls you are getting are a scam.Wish i could get these **** things to stop!

This number keeps calling my cell phone and my daughters cell phone.

A***n, caller calls my ***her-in-laws cell phone, identifiy themselves as being from Verizon,asking for me by name, and asking for me to return their call. (That won't be happening.) ***her-in-laws phone is not the primary number on my account. (Although I am the Primary Account holder.) Can we say Phishing?

It's not a scam.  You people are paranoid.  It is Verizon!  If you don't have Verizon Wireless then it is entirely possible someone listed your number as an alternative contact number, now, or in the past.

I've gotten a couple of calls from the 949 286-3311 # and all the recording said was to call them immediately at the 1800 754 number. This has never been the way Verizon has contacted me. I do have an account with them. Crazily enough, I was recently in a chat room where this number, and it's questionable validity was being discussed and I actually recognized it!  I'm certainly not going to call, but they're using up my minutes! All of these scams, what's next?

I got a call from this number, and I do not have Verizon now, and have never had Verizon so that tells me this number is basically a fraud.

My business got a couple messages to call 800-754-0961 this week. We do not have any wireless service at all much less through Verizon.I called the number back and the first time, there was no greeting other than "enter your mobile phone number." The second time I called, it was answered "Verizon Financial Services." The rep said that someone by the name of Javier Ramos gave them my number as their home #. I****ume that Mr Ramos is behind on his bills because I have been getting other collection calls for him as well.The rep said they would take the number out of the account. We'll see. They did not ask for any personal information at all though.

I also received this phone call from 949-286-3311. Claiming they were from Verizon Wireless.Once I took that call I got su****ious. I did not release any information.I told them I would contact them myself, I ask for the ph #. He gave me #1800-754-0961. I'm glad I check here first.

Rcvd this call on my home phone every other day for the last 2 weeks.  This is a canned recording from "Verizon Wireless" calling us about our account.  Verizon does not have our home phone number and we made sure of that when we got it (even though Verizon pressed us and pressed us for it we never gave it up).  Another site I visited showed this number as a phishing/scam number.  Verizon contacts us by mail for anything regarding our account, so  these calls are an aggrivating bunch of baloney.

From the other website on this, it's pretty clear that this is a phishing scam. Do not call the 1-800 number back or give any personal details away. I was called by these s***bags yes****ay (May 5th, 2008). Luckily I googled the number before bothering to call them.

I too got a call that the only part that was left was the 800 number.it said it was from Verizon financial services and then asked me to enter my mobile phone number a number of times.  I ignored that and finally got a person who could not tell me who was using this company number because"it's illegal" even though they called here but ssaid she'd delete this number off as a contact number.Thanks for the info!

All the 949 numbers listed are from Verizon Wireless Financial Services. If you owe them money even when your service is still active the harass the***** out of you. After demanding that they stop for over 6 months I got nothing. The supervisor even lied to me about them having a fax number. All I would get in response was an explination of why the calls were happening. One day I some how got the manager at one of the stores to call the number and request the fax number for me. I have it. The fax number to Verizon Wireless Financial Services is 1-908-306-5324. Fax them over a written letter asking them to stop calling. Include your number or account number. After recieving the fax, by law they must stop and they can be sued.What a great class action lawsuit this would make huh?

just got this call and it sounded pretty su****ious i tried to ask for a lil bit more info. and the call was disconnected so i would not recommend calling it back this is the number it gave me  1-800-754-0981 no company specified she just said "wireless account call back and we'll help and verify your wireless account"

I received a call from this number (8007540961) and spoke with someone who claimed to be from Verizon Wireless. Upon questioning the person calling, several red flags were raised. (I called Verison Wireless and this number is NOT****ociated with Verizon Wireless.) In fact the person who called stated that my account was past due and that the due date was such and such date. I knew better since I recently made a payment and the account is current. When I questioned if this person was in fact from Verizon Wireless, he stated that he was because he had my password. The password he gave me was not correct. Second red flag. I told this person that I will contact Verizon Wireless to clear this. He then stated for me to return his call at the 800 stated above. Third red flag. DO NOT GIVE ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION OUT TO THIS NUMBER, NOR DO NOT CONTACT THEM. This is an attempt to ***n your personal information. I hope this helps.
