Leave a CommentMy number is 1-800-813-6994 Mark Cards Inc, Hilton-Walmart gift certificates, no contact but number. I bet if you used a pay phone it would not go through
I got the same Happy Birthday thing today, but my birthday is in May. : ) When I am filling things out online and there is a birthday field that you can't leave blank, I just pick a day, month and year as fast as I can using the pulldowns and so I've probably got a bunch of birth dates floating around out there. Man am I going to get old fast......I wouldn't worry about them knowing much about you is my point.Anyway, mine was colorful with balloons, except mine is the Hilton, not Hyatt. Same offer number as I've seen before in these posts (PB007), and same 800 number. The back of the card indicates it was sent (or maybe just made) by:Mark Licensing IncMark Cards IncI'm half tempted to go to a meeting just to be able to wait outside after, follow someone home, and know where THEY LIVE!
Sounds much like the "offer" (PB007) that I received from Mark Licensing / Cards, Inc weeks ago. Mine was for a 3-Day/2 Night Hilton Get-a-way and, if I had called within 48 Hrs, it says I was eligible to receive their Week day Bonus of a $300 Walmart gift-certificate. I don't find Mark Licensing or Mark Cards anywhere on the internet, nor do I find a valid address or an entry on reverse phone lookup. If valid, they would have a left a trace somewhere.
Looks exactly like what happened to 'CB-25 Aug 2009' whose comments are above. Both Hyatt and Walmart are involved in my case with the same free airline flight dribble. The only thing CB may have failed to mention or was new for me was that they had a colorful picture grouping of 10 candles with the wording "Happy Birthday ________" using my correct first name. CB did not mention anything about birthdays being used as a familarity ploy. - What bothers me is that my birth month IS IN February !! It scares me that these idiots might actually know my birthdate - thats ONE thing to many as far as I'm concerned !!Remember that this was a tear-the-end-stubs-off type MAILING and the phone number I reference was the one they WANTED me to call - I did not callFinally, the reference an OFFER NUMBER-PB007 -
Sue - 14 Aug 2009I received a "Happy Birthday" card in the mail offering me a $300 gift voucher to Wal Mart along with 4 days/3 nights at a Hyatt and two complimentary round trip airfares to any major international airport in the continental US. I called the number (800-813-6994) on the card referencing offer Number PB007. I was told that all I needed to do to redeem my gifts was come and listen to a 90 minute s***ch at 8500 Leesburg Pike Suite 306 in Tysons Corner, VA. I made an appointment with them for 8/13/09 at 7:00pm.On 8/12/09 we got a message on our answering ma****e from "Johnny" reminding us of the appointment. We called back to confirm and asked at that time how the gift voucher with WalMart worked. We were told we would get a form to fill out and send in and we would get a $300 gift card for WalMart sent to us. I repeated this back to confirm that there were no other requirements and that it would be a $300 gift card, and was told that was correct. I also asked for confirmation that we would get 4 days, 3 nights at a Hyatt of our choice, as well as 2 free round trip airfares - and was told that was correct. We drove 1.25 hours each way for the appointment. We sat and listened to the "s***ch" which was a sales pitch for Global Holidays. We opted to not purchase a membership even though extreme pressure was exerted. We were brought to another room where our gifts were to be distributed. What we received was entirely different than what was confirmed on the phone. We got a form that we have to fill out and send in with $9.95 to begin to parti****te in a rebate program which takes 1 year to fulfill. After we spend $100 at the store, we have to mail in our receipts and then they will send us $25. We have to do that every month for one year to achieve our $300 "gift certificate". Regarding the "free" airline tickets - we have to send in a $70 "activation fee" to Celebrity Productions in order to get a vacation form to fill out. Regarding the "4 days/3 nights free at a Hyatt" - after we pay the $70 noted above, we can then "request a 3-day stay".During the sales pitch we were told that they were a Better Business Bureau member with an A+ rating. I looked them up today - they are not a member and they have an F rating - the worst possible rating. I filed a complaint with the BBB as well as the State's Attorney's office.Caller: Global Holidays, Inc.---------------------------------------Oh and Yes and as an aside, I got am SECOND letter from these crooks yes****ay - my ***her that is a senior citizen CALLED immediately me to tell me I could win this - NOW I have to be worried that he will call or send in stuff thinking it's free while I am not there!
I received a similar notice in the mail saying that WALMART wanted to give me 2 free airline tickets and that I had to call a toll free number (866-862-4071) to get them. The fine print on the backside mentions Cert Inc. and says that the promotion is not affiliated with WalMart, that certain restrictions apply, and that the $300.00 merchandise rebate requires a $12.95 refundable(?) processing fee. This is just the tip of the "gothcha" iceberg, I'm sure. Don't believe the 6 Oct 2009 post by Ken. It's probably been planted here.
No call but I got a voucher letter with this number (800-813-6994) in the text of the letter. Claims I can get $300 worth of Walmart gift vouchers and $50 Amex gift card. Supposedly this is from Hyatt and an unnamed airline. This almost worked on me since I had stayed at a Hyatt less than a month ago.
Check out the tail of what really happens when you answer these "offers" at http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-813-6994/7 and look for the post from "Sue - 14 Aug 2009"This Ken person up there obviously works with these scammers. Do not be fooled.Just remember the old saying, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't."K
I got a mailer in the mail for my birthday, and figured I would call up to see what it was all about. I talked to someone by the name of "Bob" and be was very honest with me. I got my gifts and just got back from vacation with them, all I had to do was pay taxes. But on what gift do you not have to pay taxes even when you win a car on Opra's tv show you need to pay your taxes.
I got on their mailing list somehow. They offered me a "complimentary 4-day/3 Nigh Hyatt get-a-way to many of the Hyatt properties located in the continental USA. Offer also includes TWO complimentary ROUND TRIP AIRFARES to any major international airport in the continental U.S.!!!!"Do I believe this claptrap? Of course not! I predict high pressure sales people trying to squeeze so****ing for nothing out of the people that fall for this scheme. Plus the $300.00 Walmart bonus certificate is so soooo cheap looking as it is a black and white Xerox copy but then the idea is to hook a fool out of their money.Notice how the phone number stays the same but the company name c****es like ***** underwear? Hmmmm, there just couldn't be so****in mighty grubby about the owners of that phone number? Could there?
Received same "Dept. of Revenue, Dept. of Funding" Bailout Form 2009 mailing today - phone # is 1-877-572-3908. Offers 2 free tickets - & $100 in GAS if I call in 72 hours. This had the logo for United Airlines at the top, and CheapTickets at the bottom. Mailing also included the "boarding pass" with my name, a "seat number, flight number, and gate number."The back of the "boarding pass" stated Certs inc. 424 E. Central Blvd. #413, Orlando, fl 32801
Well, they've c****ed theri approach to 2 nights and 3 days frre at any Htatt in the USA and if you call within 72 hours, free airfare to any major airport! It does alook official..Thanks for the "Heads Up"!
My scam mailer text - which is VERY similar to the 10/16/08 entry above:"Official" looking mailer that pulled apart. Outside return address not given - but reads " Division of Revenue, Department of Funding. BAILOUT, Form 2008Permit #850, mailed from zipcode 32114Inside it has a logo "Cheap Tickets" - then it reads:Our Promotional Department has scheduled you to receive TWO round trip airline tickets to international airports in the continental USA, includes a three day/two night getaway that can be used at ***dreds of Marriott properties in continental USA.To claim gift call 1-888-811-5261mentions when to call and gives a reservation #- A basic looking sheet of paper is also included that says "Travel Itinerary" It appears to mimic a boarding pass - The scary part MY NAME is on this bogus ticket.(bottom of mailing states: This promotion is not sponsored by or affiliated with Marriott but is a major supplier of Certs Inc.)---I wonder what we all have in common in order for them to get our names/addresses on this list - as I do not receive this junk normally?
Just got one of those letter too. Thanks guys for the heads up, I've ripped it up and thrown it out!
This is another scam about free airline tickets !!! Avoid it like the plague !!The letter has the Dollar Rental Car and NWA logos onit. It Says 'Our accounting department shows that you have been awarded two round trip tickets to any major international airport anywhere in the continental USA. To claim this special gift, simply call 1-888-842-3496. Monday thru Sunday 7am-9pm. Flights fill quickly. First to call, fist to fly. Reservation number 7997"The post mark on the letter is from Zipcode 32114 Permit #850. It has FORM 2008 written on the top. It says "WARNING the penalty for obstructing or interfering with the delivery of this letter is a fine of $2000 and up to 5 years imprisonment". Above your address is written 'Postmsater please deliver between 4/22 -4/24 ... that was 6 months ago! These people need to get a life and a job, they must think we are all complete idiots
I received the exact same letter as Jays original posting. A friend of mine called a similar number and they stole, and used their number for long distance internationally. It was a pain to fix, and cost them a lot of money. What a wonderful birthday gift!!!I suggest that no one call their number.
I have been receiving these "self-mailers" (mailers that are folded into halves or thirds) over the last year, the most recent was on August 30, 2008. The mailers have shown company names such as Global Holidays, Global Travel, Event Planners, World Wide Travel, and even one that does not show any company name. With the exception of the one, all ask the recipient to call a toll-free number (examples: 800-809-6310 or 800-813-6994 or 866-930-3999 ) to receive "Two Roundtrip" airfares or tickets to any "major international airport of your choice within the continental U.S." The exception states the destination to be "over 40 of America's favorite resort destinations." All have the words "To claim this special gift", you "simply call" the number provided. Each mailer provides a "Boarding Pass" that can be detached from the other portion of the mailer, each asks the recipient to call "within 48 hours", and each provides one or more U.S. airline logos or strong inference that the airline is involved. No airline is****ociated with the adverti*****ts - as verified by the airlines. Here are some facts (in the event you don't know already): 1. These mailers are all deceptive, misleading and ****ing - designed to lure you into the trap. There is more than one company involved in these schemes. The toll-free telephone numbers likely belong to one company, widely reported to be Certs, Inc., 424 E Central Blvd #413, Orlando, FL 32801, tel. 866-292-099, ( http://www.certsinc.biz/ ). However, they may belong to another company, which is currently under investigation by the Florida Attorney General. All of the following names have been linked to one organization by Florida officials: Suncoast Incentives LLC, Suncoast Vacations, Capital Financial Marketing, Travel Services USA, United Vacation Network (now dissolved), and World Vacation Destinations LLC. The companies that appear on the mailers you receive likely contract with the outfit that sends out the mailers and fields the phone calls.I say "likely" because it is difficult to pin all this down. I have found that governmental agencies are very reluctant to allow U.S. citizen consumers access to the information. Thus, it is hard to expose these hustlers before more financial damage is done to Americans.2. There is no "special gift." The definition of a gift is a voluntary transfer of property to another, gratuitously and without consideration, i.e., the recipient does not have to pay or do anything in return for the gift. In these instances, the recipient is required to sit through a lengthy, pressurized and deceptive sales pitch - first. The amounts of money involved are in the thousands of dollars. The sales pitch is so convincing and lasts so long, it wears a person down. That's the intent.Adolf ****** said, "If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed." This concept is followed meticulously by the sales force in these "steam rooms."After hours of haranguing by sales people, the individual or couple will be put through so many restrictions, stipulations and requirements related to receiving the "free round trip tickets" that the "gift" is all but impossible to obtain. Look at the testimonials of people who have been there.3. While there are real companies by the names given on the mailers, at least one gives a false address. Global Holidays (aka Global Travel) does not have an office at Tysons (Tyson's) Corner, Gallows Road, Leesburg Pike or Vienna, ******ia. Non-existent, period. This has been confirmed by onsite review. Yet, it is likely these real companies are the ones that provide the sales force at the various "seminars" around the country.4. There is nothing provided on the mailers that make it possible for the recipient to identify, verify or contact the sender without calling the number provided. Legitimate advertisers do not operate in this manner. Legitimate companies do not offer gifts that are as costly as "two free round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental" United States without requiring you to do so****ing in return, e.g., pay a fee, buy a product or listen to a sales spiel. The old adage, "If it looks (or sounds) too good to be true, it probably is." should be revised to "...it definitely is too good to be true." It is a downright lie.One unlucky person told the St. Petersburg (Florida) Times he didn't think his shame should stop him from warning other people to be more careful. "Most people who make mistakes like I have," he said, "would just take the whipping and go on." If you have been duped, report it, expose it, and let everyone else know in the hope that it may prevent at least one other from being swindled by these bandits.5. Received a mail solicitation congratulating me and offering "two round trip airline tickets to over 40 of America's favorite resort destinations." It featured American, Southwest, Marriott, and Wyndham but on the voucher stated the offer was not affiliated with any of them but that they were major suppliers. This was the number to call and claim. No organization name is given but the return address is 391 Roberts Rd., Oldsmar, FL 34677
This call was from VIP Travel.
