Visa was on the caller ID. Robocall about lowering interest rates on a credit card. Fourth call this month. Did not give an opportunity to opt out as some other of these calls have done.
By the way, I tried to call back the number that showed on the caller ID, which said "Nextiva", but the number, which was 213-814-0685, just reached a phone company message that said the number was disconnected. I looked the number up and discovered it was for the actual phone company from Scotland called Nextiva. Definitely a scam, and I almost got caught!
They called and had part of one of my card numbers. They knew how much my balance was and my most recent payment. I tried to pin them down on their information and location (no accent at all) and the male caller said Florida. The initial discussion seemed honest enough, with them providing me with information that made it seem like they were legit. They told me how much credit I had left on the card in question. But when I asked how much the fee was and the new interest rate was going to be, the response was "no interest rate change", but coincidentally, the fee would be just under what I had as available credit left on the card in question. How convenient! In the meantime my wife looked up the number the new kid had given me (said he just started today, so he couldn't really answer a lot of my questions) and my wife yelled from the other room "SCAMMER, HANG UP, Don't tell them anything more!!!" We called our card company and had the card cancelled within 10 minutes.
I answered with a very slow "hello". They hung up on me!

"Cardmember Services" is back in business folks. Same scam as before. Same robo-calls. I keep blocking the numbers, so they can only call me once. Don't say anything, just hang up. Pressing any number 'to stop receiving calls' simply confirms that a live person answered, and they WILL keep calling you.
I called the 800-847-2911 and got through to VISA. The woman I spoke to claimed that they had received many complaints about the calls and were working with the phone companies.

She said UNITED CREDIT FOUNDATION. I told her I guarantee if I look it up it is a scam. She hung up. I called back, got an Asian woman who asked if last 3 of phone # was 911 and I said yes. She said they don't make outgoing calls. I said that is the only way I would have the number. I asked where they were located and she kept saying, we are visa. I told her to stop and finally asked her when you go to work where is the building you walk into? She finally said Phillipines. I told her I do not deal with Indians and Asians, too many scam artists. THIS IS NOT VISA. THE NUMBER FOR VISA GLOBAL ASSISTANCE IS 1-303-967-1090. THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS SCAM AND ARE WORKING WITH THE FTC AND LAW ENFORCEMENT.

My caller ID also said "toll-free call." The woman told me shoe worked for the Qualification Department for Visa and MasterCard (yeah, right, she works for a department that is run by two competing companies). I kept on trying to get more information from her, but eventually she hung up on me.
They called me at 12:08 in the morning, when I answered cursing, and saying that I was going to report them,they never said a word. I had no idea who they were but, NO 800 number should call at that time. Caller ID just said TOLL FREE CALL.

I got a recording about my credit being okay and to press 3 if I wanted to lower my rate. i punched 3 and didn't get anyone. I then hit the zero and got nobody. I hit the 9 and didn't get anyone. My caller I.D. display said unknown caller. I have already reported them to the Do Not Call Registry, because I confirmed that my two credit card companies are NOT doing this calling and they do not use a recording. So this place is a hassle and has caused my elderly mother worry so I have reported them. REPORT ALL recorded calls to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. Even if you have not registered with them you can report a complaint about a call that comes in as a recording and there is no live person. I hope these people go to somewhere very hot when they pass away and then their punishment would be to receive phone calls of a recording every second of every day for the rest of eternity.

Called the number and it was for VISA Global Network. Hang up when you see this number appear on your caller ID. It is a scam.
Just received this message - automated. Came up on my caller ID as Visa Lost-Stolen. Called it and it was Visa Global Customer Care Center. The message was they would lower my credit rate, but I won't give out my number to something like this. I live in Indiana and am on a no-call list for things like this.

There are more crooks than legal folks.

This number called me on my new cell #. I only give my cell out to close family, schools, etc. as we are in the middle of a genuine medical situation with my young daughter, plus this same daughter has a life-threatening condition. I was waiting on 1 of 2 surgeons to call me back at the exact time they called, so I picked the call up immediately. When I heard a recording "Do you want to reduce your credit card rates...BS...BS...BS?" I wanted to scream!!! I hung up immediately! I waited until I got home & called the # which called me to tell them (actually scream at them) to remove me from their calling list immediately!!! So, I called the # & it said it was VISA (just plain VISA). So, I dialed 0. The man was very very nice. He said that the # I was put through to was VISA's lost & stolen credit card department. He said they have many complaints. He said some fraud is using their # to place these calls & get people's CC info from them. He said they are working with the telephone companies to try to stop this. He apologized over & over for my inconvenience. He really did seem genuine. It seemed to be the truth. Bottom line...there isn't anything that can really be done. The next time they call, I'm going to ask to be removed. Although, I'm sure these AHoles won't. We'll see...I'll post if they call again!!

Got a prerecorded message to press 9 to lower my interest rate. A man who called himself Shawn Williams came on and proceeded to tell me about laws changing on 1/1/10 and that this company serves as a "third party representative" for the card holder to reduce interest rates now before the laws change. They wanted to know if I had credit card debt of at least $5,000 and had I made payments on time for the past 6 months. They wanted to know what banks my cards were from. I wanted to check on this, so I told him that I was on my way out. He offered to call back, but I asked for his number to call when I was ready. I then got 18008472911. I asked for the company name and he said they were Credit Card Services (hesitation) of America.

The guy at Visa told me that they are trying to document this group so they can shut them down.
The number they gave you really does go to Visa, but Visa said that is part of how they are avoiding stuff. If you can't act right now or want to talk to someone else, they give you a legit number for Visa, so when you call it you don't think anything. Then when they call back later, you think they really are a legit group.

There was a call offfering to reduce my intrest rate on my Mastercard or Visa card. I do not own a Visa card. Needless to say I just hung up, I figure it was just another scam.
This company called claiming they could reduce my interest rates. BEWARE! They demanded my credit card account numbers along with the security codes. I demanded to speak with a supervisor. I had to ask at least 4 times before I was transferred. The supervisor then got rude with me when I told him he was a scammer and told me he would come F*** me tomorrow. What authority can I file a real complaint with?

Automated call, press 9 to lower my credit card rate. Some guy, "Jeff Mills," claiming to represent VISA and MasterCard picked up, offering to lower my credit card interest rates. Of course, I wanted to play this through to see how much they knew. I confirmed my name, zip code (they were close on this one, but not right on) and card bank name and the toll-free number on the back of the card, which I gave. I stopped at the expiration date: I did not give the date. He said he couldn't help me. I asked for his name and number in case we got disconnected: "800 VISA 911" (800 847-2911). Smelled like a scam. I immediately called my credit card company and they said they sometimes make these offers, but never through a third party, only through their own marketing department. Phew! Hang up! Complaint to FCC filed.

Wed Apr 1 09 12:17pm - robocall left msg on answering machine. 1:43pm - same robocall - pushing 1 got to a person.
I asked what company he is calling for. He told me Visa and Mastercard. I asked the caller's name. He said his name was Michael Samuels (he would not spell it for me, saying it was the regular spelling). I asked for his phone number. He told me his phone number was 800-847-2911 (that is Visa corporate's #, but obviously he is not from Visa).
Refused to put me on their do-not-call list. He said they do not have a do-not-call list because there is only a federal do-not-call list. I told him I was already on it and that they should not be calling me... I asked for a supervisor and he said he is the supervisor. Tried over and over to get the name of the company he's working for and could only get from him that he's working for THE Visa and Mastercard company. He would not tell me what specific bank he was calling me about in regard to my account, etc. You've all heard the garbage over and over and over... He was argumentative, aggressive, etc.
A few days ago I actually got a woman on one of these repeat calls who apologized profusely (after I told her about their previous rep. who kept calling and hanging up on me), and said she would put me on their do-not-call list.
It does seem (probably an illusion) that if I actually answer the call instead of just letting it go to the machine, that I don't get as many of these for a few days.

Received a call just now (03/09/09) at 11:48am Central Time. A message said that I was being called regarding "my current credit card account" and to push 1. When I did so, I was connect to a male who asked me whether I had $3,000.00 or more owing on my credit card. I asked him who he was and what the name of his company was, and he said "You have failed to answer the simplest question on my list. You're an idiot. Get off my phone".
I get three or four calls a week from these people.

I keep getting calls from a company that claims to be called Card Services. This is the phone number the telemarketer gave me, but this number seems to be a legit Visa number, not the telemarketer's number! Each time they call, I ask to be placed on their do not call list. They have hung up on me several times. Today they told me that they cannot by law stop calling me! I know that's not true, but the telemarketers believe what they are told.
Another scam, the same number, the same urgent' If you don;t do it now, you last chance to lower your interest rate. Same number 1 800 847 2911. Block them out.

Told me that I had a credit card with VISA and that it had been opened 9.5 months ago. Stated that her name ws Barbara Lewis and gave me an extension of 261 to return call. I asked for the last four digist of my SS# and she gave me a number that was only one off. Also an address. The phone call was at 10:19 a.m. and it was to one of my landlines which is used was previously my fax number which is unpublished.

Unlike the wortheless DoNotCall website which relies on your lazy State Attornety General do something (which they won't), the FCC does take enforcement action. The FCC acts quickly and you will even get an acknowledgement letter in the postal mail in about a week or two.
I was called by a local business for over two years and my DoNotCall website complaints did nothing. I even sent a postal letter to my State Attorney General asking why they weren't enforcing it. Their office replied telling me to file a complaint at DoNotCall.gov. Gee, that's what I did for over two years and it did nothing.
When I filled out the FCC online complaint form, the calls stopped and have for more than two years. The company was warned first by the FCC but they kept calling so I kept complaining to the FCC. After a few months I got a letter from the FCC saying they took enforcement action and I haven't heard from the company since.
If you want, keep a log of the calls so when they call in the future you can show this on the online complaint form. I just email myself the quick details with the date, time, and number of the telemarketer and keep it in a Do Not Call folder in my Yahoo mail box.

after reading several sites about this phone number which is actually a visa number they are just giving out, i think these people are phishing the US for cc numbers and info. maybe if we all just give them made up info and waste their time they will get a clue... the problem is that there are too many people that believe they are trying to help them and are giving them cc and ss info. if people would quit buying things over the phone and thru spam then we wouldn't get stupid phone calls and full inboxes.

'nadia' was the name she used, wanted last 4 digits of my soc, card number of at least one card with at least $800 still on it ("not too close to limit"), & the cards 1-800 #. When I said it sounded like a scam ( i am also on the dnc list) she claimed nothing fraudulent could be done with the info anyway, & yes, even though they have called repeatedly for a while now, it was "the last day for this offer". The phone # she gave me belongs to visa at several diff locations around the country. I told her to call back later, but I knew it was a scam, googled the number while I was talking to her. Usually when we answer the 'unknown name', it hangs up. My husbands cell sometimes says unknown, or I wouldn't have answered at all! STEER CLEAR OF THEM!!!

got an email from visa stating possible fraudulent activity. they gave an case id number and then gave me a website to go to. the website gave the above phone number and a lady with a hispanic accent asked what bank it was from. i didn't give bank info but told her my case id number and she gave me phone numbers for equifax and another credit bureau but didn't help me. the site looks real so watch out.
Automated message told me they were a rate reduction company(Suspicious from the start) and could reduce my credit card interest rate to 6% fixed.So I pushed number to talk to someone about lowering my rate so I could find out who they were. I spoke with Muriel from 800-847-2911 I asked the name of the company she sated Visa/MC cardmember services baltimore, MD. She wanted my credit card number(s) and other details. I told her I was uncomfortable giving out my information and I would call back at a better time.

In my opinion based in what they have told me, i think they are harvesting credit card numbers and using for some fraud, do not ever give credit card number to anyone who calls you.

First a prerecorder message just like the others. I am on the do not call list. The live person hung up on me when I started to ask where there company is located.
Unknown Name/Unknown Number calls repeatedly (often once per day and even at night) and either says that they want to lower my interest rates on my credit cards, lower my auto loan rates, or extend my automobile warranty ("Just press 1 to speak to someone about..."). I always press 1 and ask for company information or to be removed from their call list, and they always just hang up on me. Today I pressed 1 to talk to somebody about lowering my credit card interest rate, and pretended I was interested. I spoke to an operator who said her name was Whitney. She told me their number (800-847-2911) and said their address was Suite 300 W Peachtree, Ft Meyeres FL 23906. She said they just needed my credit card account information and they would lower my rates. She said that they are affiliated with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express and with all banks. I asked to talk to her manager. He said his name was Mike. When I asked how they found out about me, he said they got my number from Visa and Mastercard because we have a very high credit score and good payment history. When I asked him why his system often called us at night, he became agitated, asking what that had to do with me getting a better interest rate. I asked him if they used the Do Not Call list, and he became very upset, speaking to me in a rude tone, and insulted me for having "nothing better to do with my time." Then he hung up on me.
They have called me several times. I said to stop.I asked to be removed from their list. They said they would.*69 failed to give me the return number.-----This number is for Visa lost cards. I called it. Visa does NOT haveany personal information - only the bank does. So "Consumer services" in Florida is a bogus operation. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!Visa is aware of this scam. Try to get their actual phone number!

Am getting 3 to 4 calls a week for me to upgrade my credit card the calls are recordings.
Automated message begins, "Do not be alarmed! Press 1 to lower your interest rates.." Connected with a live agent, but she refused to provide details on their company. Asked to talk to a supervisor and she forgot to put me on mute, so I overheard her asking around if anyone wanted to play being the supervisor!
I spoke to the "supervisor" who said they don't give out addresses. He provided a call back number (800-847-2911), which appears to be a number for VISA. This company is sketchy.

The VISA people appreciated my call and took down the Costa Rica number 506-2297-9244. --SSS
Recorded message came on my cell phone, and I clicked "1" to find out who was calling. Upon inquiring, the real person answering said he was with "Card Services" based in Wash DC and gave the 800. The call originated from Costa Rica with the number 506-2297-9244
Two phone calls. They are very rude harassing and hang up on me. I am on the do not call and they will not take me off the list. I cannot get info to sue them.
Exact same call other complainers have mentioned. Even though my phone number is on the Do Not Call Registry, AND I have no Visa/Mastercard, "Val" from "Visa" was calling to lower my interest rates, she just needed my account numbers.
It appears that they are calling from Costa Rica. The number that called me was 506-2208-4283. I aksed them to give me a number to call them back, and they gave me 800-847-2911.
I pressed one and asked to be put on a do not call list. I was told they cannot do not do this, but I can call customer service at 800/847-2911 and ask to be put on the do not call list. I was told that I ahve to mail in my request.
Rep claimed company name was "Client Services" out of Raleigh NC.
When I noted the fine for calling a DNC number, rep stated "YOU are the one who pressed 1 on the automated call to connect with me; you REQUESTED this call." He hung up on me when I asked his name.
Yep same as SomaCat. But when I pressed I was told to write to an address in Framington, MA to request removal from their list.

I get about 4 such calls per month on my DNC listed number.
Caller tries to get your name, credit card number, amount of debt, credit card number, and last 4 digit of social security.
I too think this is a scam to get your credit card number.
The only enjoyable part was I played along, pressed 1, told them I had $5000. in debt, etc etc (I don't carry a balance on any card) and wasted 15 minutes of HIS time before I blasted him for being a scammer!

Same as all of the rest of you. Rate reduction, press 1 to speak to operator, press 2 to remove number from list. Pressing 2 never works. Pressed 1 - got hung up on a couple of times, was reassured my number would be removed, warned them I was on the Do Not Call and was actually told I probably wasn't and should check and make sure. Spoke with a supervisor "Maria" who said that they work with over 500 Visa and Mastercard agencies and that each of those agencies have their own call centers with their own "lists", which is why we get repeat calls. Yeah, right!! I don't have caller ID, so all I could get was the 800 number, which is a customer service number. Found an online article from North Carolina that this appeared as a common identity theft scan there. Also a answers.yahoo post that the number on their caller ID was 442074898133, which may not even be a US number, or a falsely generated number somehow to hide THEIR identity.

This is a real phone number to call VISA to report a stolen card. Pretty clever identity theft scam to give the REAL phone number of VISA. If you have called ID, please get the real phone number and call your local police and report that phone number to the FCC, FTC and your state attorney general.
Prerecorded message asking if you want your interest rate reduced on your Visa or Mastercard. Press 9. Argumentative lady answered the phone "Rate REduction Company". I asked her if that was the name of the busines and she said "Yes" and gave me this phone number to call back. I agree with Adrian that this seems like an identity theft scam. REported to FCC and FTC and CA State Attorney General.
This is the number that I was given to call back if I had questions regarding an interest reduction scam which originated from
this company keeps calling even after I have told them I am on the national do not call list. I was able to get his name and call back number. they want to lower my intrest on my credit cards. I have received about eighteen or twenty calls from these people.
