Leave a CommentOne way to get back at these people that wont stop calling you is to post their 800 phone number all over the Internet at places that will call them back or fill out a form at one of those Internet scam sites using their phone number & name if you have it or even any name. Even though the call is free to you, they will still have to pay for all the calls but at a discount.
The message on my cell phone did not give a name. Only the instructions to call back during business hours providing the account number. I checked online to find out that it was not a 'real' call.
Very rude! Calls 5 times a day. When I call back I am placed on hold for a long time. Are these people ******? I want to take care of the matter, the person they ask for doesn't live here.
Looking for someone I never heard of. Called 3 times.. keep telling them this has been my number for 1 year now
Have been told numerous times person their looking for isn't living here.
THANKS JAMES I'M GOING TO CALL EVERYTIME I GET A CALL AND TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO DO THE SAME, WE CAN EXC****E NUMBERS AND CALL THEM AND SEE HOW THAT HANDLE THEIR BILL,I CALLING ALL MY FRIEND NOW AND CONTACTING EVERYONE I KNOW ON EMAIL, THANKS
One of the the GREAT THINGS about 800 #'s of all sorts (866-888 and so on) is that SOMEONE pays for them. So EACH TIME you call that number, there is a charge that is registered to a company / corporate account, and these charges end up on a telephone bill kinda that same as you and I get at the end of the month or quarter. That means that SOMEONE is having to pay for them. Now can you imagine if everyone who got one of these calls, posted this number someone where ***dreds or even THOUSANDS of people would call it. I bet that would make a large bill for that telemarketer company and MAYBE they would get the hint that it is not cost effective to call people and harass them when they don't even have the right number.Just so****ing to think about.Just in case has anyone gotten a a call from this number 800-862-4187. It states that it is a collection agency operated by Jamie Roberts of Bay Area Collections.
Caller lets phone ring but never leaves a message!! I rufuse to answer a call from an 800 number without know who is on the line!
I keep getting calls from this number. They never leave a message. I called them back and it is Bay Area Credit Services. Never heard of them.
S****ed calling today at 7:00 am!! No message left...has called 3 times since.
Calls daily, never leaves message. Our phone number use to belong to person they are looking for. Answered once and asked not to call us anymore, they said ok. Still call anyway. We just don't ever answer anymore.
i get 3 calls a day on my cell, which i do not answer ! they ask for ME but i know already its my ex husband they want. i got a call from them a year ago, but it was a person. they said i had a credit card in my name, opened such n such year, blah blah blah. well i said no way i never had such card ! well then he informs me if i dont pay they are taking me to court... etc, AND he said it was on my credit report and to remove it i had to pay. well i immediately got my credit report, and its NOT THERE ! they even went so far as to say some chic named Janice ( coincidence ?) was a character witness on the card application, they had me convinced ( not quite convinced ) that my ex had fraudulently opened an acct in my name !! its been a year since that call, now they are s****ing up a***n ! this has to be illegal and should be stopped ! after seeing this message board, i WILL be filing a complaint. oh and the do not call list, im on, alwys have been. it doesnt stop them.
It's now 2pm Pacific Time and they've called me on my cell # 3 times since about 10am today. I can see their number of my caller ID so I don't bother answering, and they have never left a message for me. I've been getting these calls from them off and on for a year or so. I figure if it's important enough they'll leave a mesasge. So far they haven't.
They have called me 3 times and I do not know who they are and have told them to contact my attorney and gave them the phone number and name of my attorney.I am 87 years old and do not owe anyone.
When I answer the phone no one is there. Called 3 times today.
they call all the time
I've had this number calling my house on and off 2 or 3 times a day for the past 2 months. Sometimes we answer and they ask for a "Leroy Nimitz". We've told them repeatedly that we have no clue who that person is, to stop calling us and to take our number off their list. The calls seem to stop for a little while, then all of a sudden they will s**** a***n. If we don't answer, a message gets left on our ma****e, just a pre-recorded message where they say "if you are Leroy Nemitz, please call.....". very, very frustrating 111
I do not owe any money to anyone. I have had the same telephone # for 35 years. I told the idiots that my # was on the do not call list and said "Do not call this # a***n" and I hope that stops the call.
To answer all....Your information is easily obtainable (prev. collections exper.)All of your information including your ss# can be bought. However, the information can not be used for anything other then "skip tracing" (research and locating)The cease & Desist letter is the best route to go. It is a good rule of thumb to threaten debt collectors of your (legal) actions if a specific contact # is not removed. Also, as long as you tell a debt collector that they will receive money within a few months(no specific date or amount need be specified), that is considered a valid arrangement. If you tell them you will not pay on your debt or have no intention to pay, they can settle it in court resulting in you oweing your full amount due+ court fees (yours and the debt companies).Amount dues are negotiable. I had a outstanding balance of $500+, i was able to p/o with $200 in full during that phone call. IMPORTANT! if you negotiate a lesser payment to pay-off your account, be sure to get it in writing first. Or else you have no proof. Debt collectors are anonymous for saying a small amount is fine and pretending like that conversation never happened to build bonus and get money from you.
I keep getting calls from this number. One message was left that they are attempting to collect on a debt. I do not have any outstanding or past due debts. What can I do to stop this?
Got a call from them tonite. Their ma****e did not respond when I answered. Also a call from their 877-341-2479 number on Friday a few hours after "Jody Roberts" told me they would stop calling. I****ume that the "Roberts" surname is a pseudonym (have also gotten the call Janice Roberts message).
... and they're a bunch of idiots. Only a cease and desist letter with the threat of a lawsuit stopped them from calling. File a complaint with the California Attorney General's office. Here's their info:Corporate Headquarters Bay Area Credit Service, LLC97 E. Brokaw Suite 240San Jose, CA 95112 Phone: (866) 222-2097 (408) 392-4400 Fax: (408) 392-4520
I have been getting calls from Janice Roberts (Bay Area Collection Service) since 2-12-08. I screen my calls, so have never talked to them. Most of the time they **** up as soon as my answering ma****e goes on. They call about 3 times (****-up) and finally leave a message that if I am not so and so I should **** up. If I am so and so, I should call Janice Roberts at 1-800-862-4187. What is odd, is that my phone # is unlisted and so and so is a friend of mine who made a call from my phone in January. The phone company thinks this is probably just a random coincidence. I'm not so sure... My friend doesn't owe anything to anyone. They called 3 times Sunday morning, 3 times Sunday night, and are after me a***n today (Mon.). Has anyone sucessfully gotten rid of them? How can they have been doing this for as long as they have and still get away with it?
I have been ****arded by calls from two numbers- 800 862 4187 and 877 337 3099 and I have discovered that they are the same company. the first # goes by the name of Bay Area Credit and the second one is True Logic Financial. The website of TLF takes you right to Bay Area Financial. Talked to a rude person at Bay Area Financial and threatened a lawsuit a***nst them if they ever call me a***n. Will keep after them until they stop.
Keep getting calls on my cell from 800-862-4187. Don't answer calls I don't recognize but looked it up via Web to find "Bay Area Credit" and piles of complaints. I don't owe any money and have never given my cell # to any company, so I know this is a scam. I've now put my cell # on the Do Not Call registry, and following the advice of "Dana" above, will answer next time to tell them to take me off their list, so if they call a***n I can file a complaint with the gov't agencies "Dana" mentioned. I hate scammers!
I received a call March 6, 2008. When I called back I reached an operator for "Bay Area Credit Services" (I live in Helotes, Texas). When I provided my number, said she was looking for a Patrick Noonan. I said I had never heard of him and to please take my number off the list.
I get a call from this number 800-862-4187 about three times a day and I am tired of it.
how do we block this number?
Continuous calls from 800-862-4187. Have asked repeatedly to be taken off calling list. They get rude. Have threatened them and still does not work. What to do?
I get calls from them several times a week. I even called the police but they said I can only file a harrassment claim if they call three or more times a day. They are calling to collect on someone named James who I don't even know. Maybe he had my number before me? I've left messages and told the live operator to take me off their list. Nothing seems to help. One of the operators even got huffy with me when I told him I'd already asked for my number to be removed. What can I do?
This is "Bay Area Collection" - I was lucky enough to inherit a new cell # on my business phone from a dead beat that owed $$ to a set of agencies. I tried calling them to inform them to quit calling but Derek didn't give a $&*% - hey he's just the late evening call center dude. My advice is to take names, dates and time you called. Ask for the address to send a cease & desist notice if need be, but the fair collection laws in the US are such that you only need to notify them ONCE and by phone is included. Then if they call after that - take down the date/time/person's name and turn them into the attorney general's office for your state. They will be fined.
These turkeys call 2 to 3 tomes a day minimum. Am tired of their tactics. Don't know these people from Adam.
Well I knew it was some type of bill collector and it was. It turned out to be Bay Area Credit Service. They are calling for a old ambulance bill I hadnt paid. Then to top it off it aint even a person on the phone its some **** ma****e.
They keep calling asking for someone i do not know. I pressed 9 and spoke to an debt collector. I let her know it was a wrong number, I do not know her party, this is my cell phone and I am very angry they keep calling. I told her to take my number off her list. She told me it didn't matter if I was unhappy or angry, they can continue to call. I finally yelled at her to take it off and she said ok.
