Leave a CommentThey called my aunt and got my number, as I represent my ***her's estate. Now they are calling me. They refused to say who they represent until I cite the MA laws, then they won't tell me specifically who the bill is for. I told them they need to send me a bill IN WRITING or the judge won't settle it. They "offer" to settle it outside the estate. If they weren't playing idiot games, I might do that but now they need to talk to the judge (the estate is solvent). Reported them to the MA AG for harassment. They may be legit, but their tactics are illegal in the state that I live in.
Also got a call from this number about a dead relative.@Colin - They may be legit but they should stop bothering people about dead relatives.
I am an attorney and from time to time am appointed by the Probate Court to administer estates where the is no next of kin in the jurisdiction. I am dealing with an insolvent estate now. I get calls from this number about the decedent's credit card debts from an outfit called Estate Information Services. It's a debt collector based in Columbus, Ohio. They are legitimate.
I agree, thank you for your reply. I've gotten alot of calls since spouse deceased, and some are nice and offer condolences but some are not even hearing what you say. Shame on them.
This number called about a dead ex, and said they were looking for the people connected to his willl. If they call a***n, I'll call the police. So who ever you are I hope that you hear that.
who does this number belong to?????????????????
I got call's from this number for weeks at my office. don't know how they got my office number. They left a few messge's but couldn't identify themselves when I phoned back the 1st time. I stopped answering after that. Call's continued until they some how got my home number and called at 8:30 am Sat. The guy said he was from West****et Managment and asked for the person handling my dead mothers affairs. I was ****ed and unloaded on the guy how pursistantly continued to ask for the person handling her affairs but wouldn't tell me what he wanted sighting HIPA. He named several members of my family. I think they are running a scam. De****able! Told him never to call me a***n and so far they haven't.
"Teresa" called and asked who was handling the affairs of deceased person ******. She told me she was with "West****et Management" collecting a debt for American Express (one of many individually-held credit cards my step***her owned without my mother's knowledge; no idea what he did with the money). I told her he died owing more than he owned (truth). She asked if he had a life insurance policy, or if there were any other source of funds. Next, she offered to "settle" the debt for 85 cents on the dollar ($640 instead of $750), which is a joke, considering he held the card before he married my mother, and my mother knew nothing about it.I told her we were using the limited funds available to hire a lawyer instead. She then asked that we call 800-878-3317 and give them the lawyer's name, and they would s**** dealing directly with them. Nice enough, but persistent. Unsure if American Express sold the debt to "West****et Management," or if they are a division of AmEx. Either way, they have been the most persistent callers by far. Step***her died owing several thousand dollars to various credit cards, all without my mother's knowledge. None of the cards have been as persistent as AmEx / West****et Management.
They call me several times a day, but I do not answer at all. One day they called every 5 minutes for about 4 hours. I can suppress my ringer and then see who called later. Praying on people's grief is shameful and should be illegal. Not everyone who owes money is a dead-beat. Our econonmy situation has put a lot of people in a serious bind. Add that to losing a loved one, most especially a life partner and family breadwinner and make decisions that the lost spouse always made is torture when you are harrassed by these people. So I just turn the ringer off and will let my attorney talk to them. Not saying that's what all should do, but that's what I do.
Got a call today (Sa****ay). She did not know my name. She said her name was Rosemary Lawless (appropriate huh). Would not tell my husband who she was with or why she was calling. Sounds like a scam to me, shame on them for preying on people's grief.
These people called me and asked who was handling the affairs of someone with the same name as my ife. They wouldn't accept the fact she was not dead and kept asking who was handling her estate. I regret not being as uncouth and ***sh as this person and did not give her a good cussing. Probably because she called so early. They have no reason for calling my home.
Received a call asking for the person handling the affairs of... I called them back and talked to Steve Teeple(the name he gave) and he wanted me to settle with them for an amount they suggested on a credit card in the name of the deceased. Said activity was shown on the card on 12/28 and the deceased passed on 12/03. Gave him the attorney's name handling the affairs but he could not 'find' it. Since we turned everything over to the attorney maybe he thought we would get scared and pay up.
They call at all times of the day, leave only a phone number. ext # & reference number and make it sound so important about you, when in fact I have called them back and have told them over and over that the person they want is dead and stop calling me, and lose my number. They still call the last one a few minutes ago.
West management is horrible! They call me at 7:50 in the morning. They got all smart a** with me from the s****.I told them I was recording the call.(I have a small Panasonic voice recorder) Then it turns out the debt was for my ex husband, not me.I told them that I think its a law that they cant discuss someone else's debt with anyone else. They s****ed cursing me out, saying I knew where he(my ex)was.I said I didn't know where he was, that Im not his mother. The guy said "Well maybe you should have done a better job raising him" They have called 4 more times trying to bluff my kids as to where their daddy is "If they have one" was how they put it.My next door neighbor is a lawyer and is handling this for me,its only been a week so we will see how they like it,as they have violated several laws which en***les me to compensation, due to the harassment.I have heart problems and their calls have upset me so hopefully I will win a judgment.
