got a text saying someone requested to talk to me from jail and i don’t know the inmate.
Supposedly from a jail. I did not accept the call.
This is a call center that is used by jails all over the US. Just got a few calls from this number. On my voicemail was an automated three second message saying press three. I answered the next time. Ended up being from someone in jail.
Jail
Not a scam. This was from a jail. I knew who was in there and knew that was the best place.
I don't know anyone in jail...?
Not spam.
DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A SCAM.BUT IF IT SOMEONE THAT I KNOW THAT IT IS IN JAIL,THEY NEED TO CALL A BONDSMAN.
This was not a scam, and it was my boyfriend calling from jail
To NCIC: Your service, if you want to call it that, may be legitimate but your obvious cheap **** used of the name NCIC, as in National Crime Information Center of the FBI, and then profess a religious activity in the name of Jesus Christ is totally reprehensible. You capitilize on the misfortunes and mistakes of others and then take the name of Jesus Christ? Come on!
This is NOT spam or a hoax but NCIC's choice of a name is an opportunistic play on names that makes it all look su****ious as*****. On top of that the way they handle the calls really ****s. So if you get a call you ought to follow it through as distasteful as it is.
If you have any questions, call 800-***-2189 and they should be able to answer them all. Most small, city holding cell-type jails leave their phones on 24 hours per day since they are arresting guys around the clock. Some jails deactivate their phones after 11pm and re-enable at 6am. Our customer service can try to listen to the caller's name, but often it is slurred, garbled or just an obscenity depending on the nature of the arrest and mood of the detainee. And yes, when a guy is in jail, he will try to call 20 times or so to the same number hoping to get through to friends or family to get him out ASAP. Remember, they have a lot of spare time and often the phone is in the cell. The prepaid accounts are generally $25 minimum payment plus a $4.95 one-time account set up fee (the lowest set up fee in the industry). You can get a refund of the $25 or remaining balance once the person is released. You can also recharge the account for no additional charge.I hope this information helps.NCIC
This number called me, I ***g up. 30 seconds later it called me back. They were doing the same thing everyone else has reported, the collect call from NCIC. The second time it called me back I hit 3 to disallow further calls and all it did was just repeat what it was saying in the first place.
Hi this number is NCIC Inmate Telephone Services, basially it's a company that services federal and state prisons so if an inmate is detained they can make a call to a family member through their service. They called me as someone from my family was held on bail for some traffic ticket, so I picked up acepted the call they charged me 4.95 setup fee, and then 38 on my card and told me any outstanding balance can be credited back to me, I called today they told me I have 4.18 left of which 2 bucks is for them to process a refund fee! so I really am en***led to 2.18, can u believe these people????Unreal...
This is a scam. They are getting people to pay for fake calls.
This is the inmate phone in Sumner County Kansas jail. The jail itself is located in Wellington KS. You can Google Sumner county jail to find out more including an inmate search if you think you might know who it is who is trying to reach you.
Same here- got a call at 4:40am this morning from an inmate- sounded like he said Alan. Didn't answer the 1st time and was listening to the voicemail when they called the 2nd time. This time I answered but was so confused/out-of-it just pushed the ****on that said I would refuse the call. They didn't call a***n but I lost the rest of the night's sleep because I s****ed second-guessing myself and wondering if someone I know got arrested or so****ing and needed my help. I don't know any Alans (that I can think of) but like somebody else said, the voice was kinda ****led. I had to listen to the voicemail 4 times to finally decide that I think thats what it said. I'm glad I found this chatboard. I was feeling awful! I don't know anyone in prison and I certainly hope ***ody in prison knows my cell phone #! Is this a scam to get people to pay for a collect call? Call when they're sleeping so that they will think its an emergency and accept the charges? Oh- and I agree with Dan above- seriously, how does an inmate get access to a phone or computer at 4:40am?
What inmate has access to a phone at 4 AM? Fix your **** automatic dialing software!
Called NCIC and spoke to the operator and requested that they remove me from their call list. We'll see if that works. Last call came in at 3:55 AM. We don't know anyone in jail.
i missed 20 phone calls last night from them. I'm 19 college student and don't know anyone in Jail. Calls ranged from 5:29 am (PCT) to 7:32 am... 20 calls in that time span. Though they did leave a voicemail, the name spoken was ****led beyond recognition. Yet when i called them back, it was a recording with two options "set up an account" and "learn more" after about 15 secs, it ***g up on me. Iwent to the website and found no helpful information to answer the question: Who called me? How can i get the name of the inmate who attempted to call me?
This is the Caller ID of the NCIC Inmate Telephone platform, so someone tried to call you from a jail. For more information, see our website at http://www.ncic.com
