This comes up as 800 service for me. I've received it several times over the past few days. If this is really Discovery Research I have to laugh. I worked there when I was in college almost 20 years ago and no I wasn't involved in polygamy or ****** though it was low pay. When you live in a college town where everyone is fighting for jobs it's tough to get anything besides low pay. Discovery actually paid more than many of the jobs I had.And they are correct about the exemption on the do not call list. It doesn't apply to them so you can get angry at the caller, but it's not going to help much. If you want to be on their specific do not call I would probably call at one of these numbers: http://www.discoveryresearchgroup.com/locations/ if you keep getting calls after asking to be put on it. Not all of my coworkers understood that it was better to get someone off the list rather than making someone angrier and angrier by calling back. Some of the calls are random. Some of the calls come directly from the company that hired them to do the research. For example an auto company asked Discovery to find out how satisfied their customers were. They are also correct on not giving the health information. Legally they can't give that information to anyone, but who they asked for. What they are doing is getting information from people who have used either a specific medical facility or the insurance to see what their satisfaction is. If you get a call at the same time it is because one of their workers has been given a list of people to contact. That persons shift is likely to be at the same time every day. He will call through the list one day and then will call through it a***n the next day. So I'm not telling everyone to be OK with this. Just clearing up some misconceptions about the company. If you want them to be on the national do not call list you're going to have to get the law c****ed about them.
I asked the marketer to take me off of their list. Ever since, he calls and ****s up as soon as I answer. They have my cell phone #, so it costs me a minute each time. I am reporting them...
800-973-7470 seems to be from Star Market Research. When I called back that's what the recorded message said and claimed they don't have to comply with telemarketer laws since they do research - ya right? I'll bet they're still trying to sell so****ing. Also, they called a nearly 11 pm.
They ***g up when I answered. I called back and listened to a recorded message telling my they are not subject to the donotcall.gov requirements and that I may request the interviewer remove my number from their list. Recording said "good bye" and ***g up. I am registered with donotcall.gov and am going to report this number, just in case.
I have received a call from this number over the last 3 nights at 8PM CST. I don't answer calls from people/numbers I don't recognize so I don't know who it is.....but from reading all the entries it sounds fishy.
How to fix this: Call (800) 678-3748 which is the switchboard to the Discovery Research Group. Press 0 for the operator, and then be beligerent about how many times you've requested your phone number to be removed from their list. Also say if the calls do not cease immediately, you will call your Senator and the FCC to place a complaint. Should do the trick.

As always, I tell everybody I know, NEVER answer a call unless you know who it is. Otherwise you're gonna be paying for it. Hey, I may be Crazee, but I'm not insane enough to be paying for any long distant calls from anyone. Oh, I know that this one is supposedly a toll free call, but no name came up in my caller I.D. I also get calls from my own area code, but if no caller I.D. or when it says private, I still don't answer it. So, Y'all be smart & take care. :o)
called for my just-graduated son saying they were Discovery Marketing inquiring about his recent healthcare issue. when I demanded to know how they would have such information, they replied that they were exempt from do-not-call AND any discussion of what they know about him. Calling the number back gets a lame recording. Filed complaint with FCC/Do-Not-Call anyhow.
Answered the call just to tell them off. Said they were doing survey about who in the household was in charge of purchasing s***s. They called at 7:00 EDT.
They're in Utah. It figures: cheap labor, multiple wives, ******, and all that horrible stuff. Just add this to the list of social **********s they perpetuate.
I received a call from this number regarding my mother's health plan. Due to "confidentiality laws" the woman said she couldn't divulge what health plan it was or what company she was working for. Of course, this is BS, and I told her not to call ever a***n and I ***g up on her. When this calls come in, I never know who I am talking to so they don't get any info out of me!!
Received multiple calls/day for over a week. I have told them not to call 3 or 4 times. They just won't stop.
As a follow up post, I received an email back within a couple of hours from a polite lady saying she would see that my # is removed and she apologized for any inconvenience.
It is this company. http://www.discoveryresearchgroup.com/index_drg.htmlThey are not subjected to the do-not-call list as they are not "selling" anything. I dropped them a note and told them to remove me, I do not need cell minutes chewed up with this stuff.LOU
Have no idea why this number should be calling. We do NOT take calls from 800 numbers or unknown en***ies. Have a feeling it might be related to all the POLITICAL/STIMULUS GARBAGE GOING ON, but cannot prove it. Wish these companies would LEAVE US ALONE.
The called and asked if I bought tools and wanted to ask me questions. I should of listened to thier questions but didn't have time. They sound like normal humans.
When I called after hours the message says that youve reached Distributy Research Group. But I believe this to be a "fake company" name. When I pushed the #8 ****on to hear a list of the company directory, there werent any listed. So****ings real fishy.
I have been receiving calls from this nmber several times a day for the past week . . . I have it on my "auto-reject" but wish I wasn't getting them at all.
