Phony credit card scam
"Hello this is Marilyn calling from the underwriting department regarding your capital one credit card account. Based on your recent payment activity and balance you may be eligible for an interest rate reduction as low as 1.9%. There is additional information I need to confirm your eligibility so please return my call directly in the underwriting department this will be the only notice"
Claims to be a contractor of Capitol One and 300 different credit cards that can lower the interest rates down to 1.9%. Sounded like a tank of telemarkers from the Phillippines. DO NOT SHARE any credit with them, as they were unwilling to provide the name or location of the company they are working for.
Received a voice mail from Victoria indicating that I had entered a contest in the last 18 months and implied that I many have won a Lincoln Navigator or other great gifts. Said to call 800-977-7504 and ask for Chad at ext.8067 for prize details. Said there was a deadline, but none was given.
The call came from 708-441-8064 said to call back 800-977-7504 that I had just won a Lincoln Navigator. Called back and operators were too busy left name and number. Someone caled back and said that I had won 1 of 4 giveaways. Their number was 708-441-8077 flat screen tv, lincoln navigator, Jamaica vacation, or $2500. in cash. I needed to attent a promotional on Sa. & here some vacation ideas. with no obligation to buy. Do you really win? and how can they say this without coming through?
